SRC Comment améliorer la fiabilité et les
couts ?
CEFRACOR CIPG GT9
2 Réunion plénière CIPG GT9 nov 2011
SRC aspects industriels et objectifs du projet
Faits : Nombreuses défaillance de tous type d’inox ( 304 800H)
rapportés dans la littérature et dans nos REX;
GT9 Groupe the température - CIPG CEFRACOR
Plusieurs sociétés sociétés concernées :
TOTAL TECHNIP IFP AM INDUSTEEL UGITECH Haynes Intl EPA HEURTEY PETROCHEMICALS.
Exemples chez Total : 800H : High pressure , high temperature line 304 H : Convection tubes - welds 321H : support hangers on radiations elbows 316H : High pressure steam Elbows

For each grade determine the critical severity level :
Severity index : depending on the stress system and fabrication parameters ( forming , welding , filler material type ..)
For each grade determination of severity index threshold to proposed mitigation solutions : inspection , heat treatment , avoid .

Work Package 1: Refinement of recommended practiceThe current recommended practice has a yes / no susceptibility assessment for each alloy, regardless of the design details. The goal of this work package is to refine this assessment, bytaking into account stress introducing or stress relieving factors. The idea is to develop a five-point (semi-quantitative) scale which specifies the stress intensityfactor. Included in this scale are:- Presence of weldments- Cold deformation over critical value (say, 5%)- Wall thickness over critical value (say, 20 mm)- Forging- High restraint design- Heat input / interpass temperature during welding- No thermal expansion allowed- Smooth transitions in thickness- Dissimilar welds- Stabilising heat treatment, yes or no.A scale similar to this one is already available in ASTM standards.Based on this scale, one can try to determine the safe and unsafe regions for the keyengineering alloys in the programme. The key alloys to be used in this part are 304H (or thestabilised variants 321 or 347), the work horse 800H and the nickel base alloy 617.The assessment of the critical stress intensity factor can be approached both by laboratory tests, and by collection of industrial data (anonymous questionnaire among all partners). In this way, ina Nelson-curve type of approach, laboratory and industrial data may be combined to define a“safe” limit to the stress intensity factor for each alloy involved.Estimated cost: 50,000 euro
