Representative of this group is Chen Shun-chu, whose use of family photos with strong personal meaning as an artistic medium paved the way for popular use of mixed media photographic art in the 1990s. This exhibition, which derives its name from coral stone, a distinctive geological feature of Penghu, reects the artist's complex

attachment to his hometown. Centuries ago settlers of Penghu used their knowledge of local materials to gather light, porous coral stone from the oceans to build walls and homes that could withstand the powerful monsoon winds that frequently lash the archipelago. These structures still stand today and protect descendants of those rst

Kusama Yayoi A Dream I DreamedToward the end of the 1950s, Japanese artist Kusama Yayoi was recognized throughout New York art circles for her ideas and creations in the areas of surrealism, abstract expressionism, minimalism, pop art and performance art. Today she continues to hold large-scale exhibitions featuring her trademark polka dots at major modern art museums in the west. The positive response these exhibitions gain caught the attention of fashion brand Louis Vuitton, which undertook a joint collaboration that further popularized Kusama in the world of fashion. This current Asian exhibition tour began in 2013. After showing in Seoul and Shanghai, in 2015 it arrived in Taiwan where it opened at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition oers

a comprehensive, broad look at Kusama's many works and classic styles over the past six decades while also showcasing her latest works. E: When did you start making robots? Does this creative theme have something to

do with you son?

It was about ten years ago, my children were in Vancouver and I missed them, so I created the first set of robots AKIAKIS. It was for them. It was a story of three robots going diving and on an adventure. It was then that I began my creative journey of robots. All the robots I created are for dierent purposes; some are in amusement parks, some travel together with

passengers on trains, and some robots are in school studying and playing sports with children.

E: What is the main difference between the robots and your other creative works

other than them being different artistic expressions?

A: personication. Through the character, the story behind can be conveyed.

And because of personification, the robots are more approachable, and easier to interact with, so that the viewers can quickly be drawn into the world of my story, or even develop ones of their own.

E: People usually nd robots icy and cold, but your robots are rather humorous and

interesting. What do you think is the reason for their unique characteristics?

A: I am an artist, not a scientist, so it is warmth that made them dierent.

E: Out of so many robots, which one is your favorite?

A: As I said, every robot has its own story, and they are all my favorites.

E: Your work for this exhibition, 2GETHER LOVE, you said it is a trip of a robot

family. Where do you want to take them?

A: I think...the signicance of family trip is not about the destination, but the

point that people can get together, and this is my purpose for this exhibition. Most of my robots are scattered around in different places, and it is a rare opportunity for them to get together at an exhibition space with such signicance; it is a where people from around the world can see and meet

my robots.

A: My works come from my love for my children.

With no expressions, "Light Bulb Man" consisting of a large round head and thin body is public artist Lin Chien-Jung's most iconic and well-known work. It always hides in the corners of a building or a public space, glowing dimly. It is not a large work, but it is very eye-catching. This year, Ever Rich and Taoyuan International Airport use "Love" and "Embrace" as the theme for the Art Fest "2GETHER LOVE", and invite Lin to place a number of cute "Light Bulb Man" in the airport, hoping the dim lights of the works can bring some comfort and warmth to the travellers.

L: In the creative process, I try to find different possibilities, expressions, and technologies; but to realize concretely the images I have in mind, I need more than just my ideas, inspirations, and my own devotion. I need help and assistance from many people to turn my ideas into physical works.

lonely. How would you like us to see it?

L: You are bright. It is just chicken and likes to keep things to itself.

L: My works are like another me. I am not too comfortable listening to how people think about me.

"The world is a bit blue and a bit humorous; so look at it from another angle!" This is taken from the brief introduction on the Facebook fan page of illustrator SECOND, the author of Songsongmeow. The white "Songsongmeow" with only on eyebrow and always has its cellphone around was created one evening by SECOND, who was born in 1983. Since then, it has become one of the world's most famous cats. Not only has it amassed over 100 thousand likes on Facebook, the countless illustration exhibitions and merchandise design have made the laid-back Songsongmeow a very, very busy cat. It has even gone international with its popularity, and made appearances in Japan, US, Shanghai, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong. In 2015, Ever Rich and Taoyuan International Airport invite Songsongmeow to showcase the newest image installations, which can be seen behind the glasses on both sides of the airport's departure hall. Next time, when you and your friends and family pass by with your luggage, do not forget to take a picture with Songsongmeow to capture the joy of travel!

E: When did you start illustrating?

S: I fell in love with illustration when I was in elementary school. It was not until after graduate school that I decided it would be my future job.

E: Is Songsongmeow male or female? How old is it?

S: Songsongmeow is a boy, and he is a bit over one year old. (It is a boy! Not male. Smile)

E: I nd cats weird and hard to understand. Is Songsongmeow also like this?

S: Songsongmeow was born one night when it climbed out of my blanket and grabbed my cellphone. This is rather unusual (smile). Songsongmeow will also move around under the blanket to other peoples rooms to play with their cellphones or take away some of their troubles from their phones. Because he has stolen too many troubles and worries, one of his eyebrows wrinkled up. Songsongmeow is hard to understand, but he is very sweet and understanding.

E: It seems that Songsongmeow has a great life, and nothing can upset him?

S: He is rarely unhappy, but he gets nervous when the cellphone signal is weak.

S

E: Did you expect Songsongmeow would make so many great things happen in your life?

S:Because of Songsongmeow, I went to Tokyo Design Week last year for a painting exhibition. Then I went to the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, and seminars at Eslite in Hong Kong. These are all unexpected journeys and interesting idylls. So I often feel grateful for Songsongmeow, and think that I should work harder drawing Songsongmeow.

E: So the things he says and the thoughts he has are also your words and thoughts?

S: Yes. But more often I feel these are the comforting words from someone who observes me closely by my side from a second angle. Some people often tell me that Songsongmeow seems to speak their feeling when they struggle to nd a proper word to describe the feeling.

E: What message do you want Songsongmeow to convey to the travellers at 2GETHER LOVE?S: The last hug I remember the best was back in graduate school when I was chosen to represent my university to participate in an anime workshop in France. The night before I had dinner with my professor, Ms. Chu Cha-Ray. After the dinner, when I was about to get in the car and leave, Professor Chu and my classmates stopped me, and each one of them gave me a big hug. I felt the warmth right away. Maybe Asian people are shier, and often times we need distance to remind us the important bonds in life. With the works this time, I hope to remind people that a hug is a natural and warm thing.

S: Inspiration often come and go very quickly. For example: when you are walking on the street, riding scooter, or taking a shower, you will suddenly think of some images or sentences you want to express. To prevent myself from forgetting these ideas, I will write them down in a notebook, or use the memo app in my phone.

E: Who is your most admired illustrator?

S: Yoshitomo Nara .

E: So stationaries, daily products, Taipei Arena and Kaohsiung's KRT, what is

Songsongmeow's next big project?

S: People are wild about the Songsongmeow's Words train in KRT! I always think reading with your ngers being able to touch the paper is an

important thing. So my next big plan is to publish the rst illustrated book of

Songsongmeow!

When spring festival arrives, many people use their vacation time to travel overseas. In order to make airport down time a part of this joyful experience, during this year's spring festival period Ever Rich arranged Aviation Theater performances. Feng Dance Theater was responsible for composing the plays, which consisted of a combination of music, dance, literature and other artistic elements. The shows made it feel as if a full-sized theater were transported into the airport. The deputy general manager of Ever Rich, Pan Tsuei-yi, said: "Aviation Theater" has earned extensive praise and support from domestic and foreign travelers since its launch. During the peak New Year's travel period, we invited well-known performers to join our shows. Top students from several universities served as actors, singers, dancers and musicians. Aviation Theater is the first theater of its kind in the world. Since the end of last year it has performed in Terminals 1 and 2 of Taoyuan International Airport, winning widespread acclaim and positive responses from travelers. Some people preparing to travel abroad have even called in advance to inquire about show times, so they can catch a performance prior to departure.While this type of mobile art is a popular trend, Ever Rich was the first to incorporate it into an airport terminal, again demonstrating its commitment to travelers.

With its unique geographical features, not only is Kinmen a popular destination among tourists fond of nature, it is also the paradise many species of birds "revisit" regularly. The most representative of these birds would be great black cormorant. Weighed as much as 2 kg, this seabird has strong and bold bill. Its distinctive feature is that their feet have webbing between all four toes, which is not found in any other species. Every winter, especially in January, thousands of great black cormorants will migrate to Kinmen from the mainland or Siberia to spend the cold months.Ci (Compassion) Dike is the best place to watch great black cormorants. Flocks of great black cormorants fly out to fish in the Kinmen-Xiamen waters, and return to their habitats in late afternoon. Also, the mini islet in Tai Lake is another place to spot great black cormorants. With dense woods and absence of human activities, the islet welcomes a large number of great black cormorants every winter. Kinmen's rare birds are denitely world-class scenery.

( ) ( ) ( ) ( )Located in the southwest of Kinmen Island, Shueitou Village is a seashore village with building groups with western style or southern Fujian style, among which the "Huang Family Youtang Garden" with the style of Chinese classic gardens and the "Deyue Building" with the western style are the most representative. The "Huang Family Youtang Garden" was established in the thirty-rst year of

Kanghsi in the Ching Dynasty. As it has been used as a private school and newspaper office, it is full of academic avor. The "Deyue Building" was

set up in the year of 1931 for antitheft by Huang Hui-huang, a wealthy Chinese merchant living in Indonesia. It has become the most attractive scenic spot of the village.

Sheitou Village

Located at Wujiang River estuary in Nanmen District, Jincheng Town, Kinmen, Jiangong Islet is 500 square meters in area. Many believe that, in late Qing dynasty, the local people left late stage leprosy patients on their own on the islet, and that is why the islet is also known as the Leprosy Islet, or Taigu Islet (literally the islet where the eliminated ones are left alone). Back then people did not dare to step onto the islet. In 1949, ROC Armed Forces decided to build the islet into a military stronghold. Upon approval by the Ministry of the Interior, the islet was renamed to Jiangong Islet in 1960. On October 20, 1997, Kinmen Defense Command downsized the forces in compliance with the "ROC Armed Forces Rening Program", and withdrew the troops from the islet. The islet was

abandoned and facilities left decaying; however; nonetheless, due to decreased human activities, it became a paradise for birds. In 2002, Kinmen County Government renovated the islet in aim to facilitate tourism development.Standing on the islet and looking at Wujiang River estuary, we can see an intertidal wetland ecosystem formed by kandelia and black mangrove. The wetland nurtures a rich life system, including fish, shrimps, shellfish, horseshoe crabs, crabs, and many uncommon organisms we have not seen before. Water birds glide in the air above the wetland, waiting for the perfect opportunity to hunt. These are the treasures of Kinmen. The coastal park nearby is always bright in the evening, and it is a popular attraction among local citizens. Walking forward, the Koxinga Shrine is on the right hand side, which was built to celebrate Zheng Chenggong, the hero who fought against Qing in late Ming dynasty. The shrine was built in 1968, and is a wonderful site where people can relax and pay respect to the great historical gure. The observatory deck in front of

Koxinga Shrine is where one can see Jiangong Islet in its entity and look afar to Lesser Kinmen. This is a great destination where one gets to see the dierent charms of Kinmen.

The Zhaishan tunnel, located southeast of Gugang Lake, is an underground tunnel that leads directly to the ocean from the inner land. The excavation of the tunne l was launched in 1961 and completed. The tunnel serves mainly to preserve the combat capability of military boats.The main body of the tunnel was excavated through the bedrock of granitic gneiss and divided into a walkway and a waterway. The walkway measures approximately 101 m in length, 6 m in width and 3.5 in height, containing seven camp houses. The waterway is distinguished with A-shaped entrance and exit, each equipped with a rolling-machine controlled water-gate. It measures approximately 357m in length, 11.5 m in width and 8 m in height, which can accommodate 42 military boats at anchor.

Visit Kinmen and buy knives, it is probably the most representative souvenir of Kinmen in most people's memory. On August 23, 1958, the Communist army began bombing Kinmen, launching 57 thousand shells within two hours. Once a weapon of war, artillery has become the raw material of Kinmen's most famous steel knives. One shell can be made into forty steel knives. A visit to Maestro Wu, you can still see the old maestro sharpening the knives in the factory full of shells.

The "Shanhou Village" consists of the Upper Fort, Middle Fort and Lower Fort. The famous "Kinmen Folk Culture Village" refers to the Middle Fort built in 1900 during the Qing Dynasty. This was the rst village in Kinmen to be turned into a tourist destination. The sixteen symmetrical two-courtyard historic

houses, an ancestral shrine and a school academy are known collectively as the "Eighteen Houses of Middle Fort at Shanhou". All of these were built by Wang Kuo-Chen and Wang Ching-Hsiang after they became rich by trading with Japan. The overall layout was developed by famous Jiangxi architects and the great attention to detail can be seen in each house's location, purpose, interior spaces, courtyards and lofts. Even the carved beams and themed clay sculptures were not left to chance. The entire project took 25 years to complete.All eighteen historic houses were built on the hillside facing the sea in three orderly rows. Together, they represented a highly detailed and intact example of Southern Fujian architecture. Visiting tourists particularly enjoy standing in the alleys to take photos of the saddleback roofs, gabled walls, swallowtails and blue sky. This work of art by six master craftsmen brought from Tangshan is a must-see destination for all visitors to Kinmen.

Shanhou Village

Overseas Cultural Museum continues the education on the development of Jinmen people's overseas settlement introduced by Jinshuei Elementary School. In return, the people's migration has brought signicant

cultural inuences back to Jinmen. The museum reects the process and result of the fusion of Southeast Asia

colonial culture and Min-nan culture, and concretely presents the changes in material culture and values. Early on in Jinmen, many locals migrated overseas and introduced back to Jinmen foreign cultures. From food, clothes, architecture, religion, to lifestyle, Jinmen was gradually inuenced by Southeast Asian colonies, and

began to showcase a new hybrid look. After years of hardworking, many of these people accumulated great wealth and returned to hometown Jinmen. They built large mansions to show what they had achieved in life. These houses were important symbols of their glorious homecoming. Therefore, many large "fusion" houses with luxurious decorations were built. These houses stand out even more in Kinmen's traditional villages.Like other Western-style houses, Chen Jing-Lan's old residence also features ve foot way (corridor),

Western-style gables, and decorative details that fuse both Western and Oriental styles. The house also has a marvelous ocean view. It reects the shared values and collective consciousness of the unique

society in a specic time period where men went abroad and women stayed after to take care of the

family, which ultimately gave rise to a new architectural style in Fujian and Guangdong areas.
