1. LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA

Gran Canaria it’s the circle island, with contrasts and blond sand beaches. The island with

open doors and mix of cultures keeping the local traditions alive. It is a corner in the South

Atlantic where you will find anything you have ever desire to relax, have fun and enjoy the best

holydays.

Is the second largest island in population (380.000 inhabitants). As the whole archipelago is of

volcanic origin. Of it, 43% of the territory is protected and also has almost 60 kilometers of

coastline occupied by white sand beaches. With a conical profile its highest mountain, Pico del

Pozo de las Nieves (1949 meters).

It has two distinct areas: the northern slopes exposed to the trade winds, short ravines and more

humid than the south side, with a dry climate and large ravines that depart from the Summit or

Pico de las Nieves to the coast. Each area offers microclimates.

All this makes this island known as a "miniature continent". The average temperature during the

year it´s 21 degrees.

2. WHAT TO SEE IN GRAN CANARIA

A visit to Vegueta is recommended to start in the Plaza de Santa Ana a few meters of the

founding camp, chosen by the conquerors as the first center of urbanization, still much of the

initial layout is preserved.

El Museo Canario (the Canarian Museum), mainly dedicated to the Hispanic culture of the

Island which preserves and exhibits the most complete collection in the world of

A few meters away is the Plaza del Espíritu Santo, surrounded by several major Vegueta stone

mansions.

TRIANA

Looking from the banks of Vegueta , you can see the Plaza de Hurtado de Mendoza (populary

known as Las Ranas-The Frogs) is aligned with Municipal Library Building and the old Hotel

Monopol, become shopping center offering leisure facilities with cinemas, cafés and restaurants,

and, somewhat below the Teatro Pérez Galdós.

Also from Hurtado de Mendoza leaves the narrow Calle de La Peregrina, ( prelude to the

shopping street of Triana ) whose term begins Cano Street, which is the birthplace of Don Benito

Pérez Galdós , a museum dedicated to his memory and his work.

La Calle de Triana offers different samples of the historic architecture of the city, with

outstanding modernist facades. At the end of Triana Street, you its San Telmo Park, where comes

a Tourist Bus Tour to see the city from the top of a bus.

LAS CANTERAS BEACH PROMENADE

Las Canteras is one of the most beautiful urban beaches in the country and the winner of the

Travellers Choice 2015 from Tripadvisor. The locals from Gran Canaria considers it a gift. It is a

large expense of golden sand lapped by the waters bounded La Barra, a reef in calm waves

without isolation of the open water. The avenue: walking the beach offers numerous terraces to

spend hours quietly . From any of them, watching the sea , is on the right Confital the foothills of

La Isleta, with ideal waves for surfing at any time of year. To the left can be seen in the distance ,

in the west end of Las Canteras the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, building designed by architect Oscar

Tusquets and sculptor Juan Bordes integrates also the Palacio de Congresos de Canarias stands .

It is a splendid compendium of the universal culture of the city , as it brings together the major

social and cultural rights, such as the International Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

and the Music Festival of Canary events and multiple concerts of classical music and other styles.

The urban area includes the Auditorium Las Arenas Shopping Mall, original architecture, cinema

projection rooms, shops and restaurants for all tastes .

3. BEACHES

If the visitor comes in search of sun and beaches has reached the best of their destinations.

The wealth natural of Gran Canaria is varied and its beaches, most of golden sand is unique for its

attractions and its conditions. You can also avail all the services for a day of peace and with full

confidence in the quality of its waters. The island has 60 miles of beaches, from the impressive

Maspalomas 250 hectares of dunes by the sea to the west secluded coves as Güigüi or the lively

and cosmopolitan capital of Las Canteras beach. One to the other side of Gran Canaria, the

beaches can be enjoyed all year round by the climate of the island La Isla also has thirty nude

beaches .

The tourist area and where the largest number of hotels and apartments , as well as all kinds of

entertainment establishments are concentrated, is also the area where you can find the best

beaches from Tarajalillo Mogan , enjoying all year a dry climate and sunny. Here the effect of

trade winds is minimized because the mountains the clouds hold north , allowing the south of

Gran Canaria enjoy every day of the year of clear days.

In the North Island beach stands the capital , Las Canteras . In more than four miles of golden

sand , protected by a natural reef curious known as La Barra, residents and visitors intermingle .
