La Maison Mellerio dits Mellerio est le joaillier de grande tradition. Depuis 1613, par sa saga, son patrimoine, son savoir faire et sa clientèle prestigieuse, elle incarne l'histoire de la joaillerie française. Son intégrité, son indépendance et la vision authentique de son métier lui permettent d'avoir une approche sur-mesure des besoins et désirs d'objets précieux, intemporels, dédiés aux moments importants de la vie. Mellerio entretient une relation de confiance, unique et pérenne avec ses clients qui affirment leur différence en refusant les dictats de l'air du temps. 2015 signe une année importante pour la Maison, celle d'un anniversaire. Il y a exactement 200 ans, François Mellerio est le premier joaillier à ouvrir son établissement rue de la Paix. Il sera suivi, bien des années plus tard, par les autres grands de l'industrie, créant ainsi la renommée internationale du quartier de la place Vendôme, devenue capitale de la Haute Joaillerie. Mellerio dits Meller a toujours entretenu des liens étroits avec le monde de la mode. Dans les années 1950, la Maison a notamment collaboré avec de grands noms tels que Cristobal Balenciaga, Marcel Rochas, Christian Dior ou encore Pierre Balmain, dont elle parait les mannequins à l'occasion de défilés. Cette année, Mellerio poursuit et approfondit ces relations privilégiées avec la Couture en proposant une collaboration artistique à l'un de ses plus talentueux représentants. Après avoir fait ses armes chez Thierry Mugler et Jean-Paul Gaultier, le créateur français Alexandre Vauthier décide de lancer sa propre marque en 2009. Invité régulier de la Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, c'est en janvier 2015 qu'il intègre le sérail des Membres Permanents. Virtuose de la coupe et maître des matières, le styliste choisit de relever un nouveau défi : celui de se mesurer à la création de pièces de Haute Joaillerie, avec ses exigences et son savoir-faire si particulier. C'est ainsi qu'est née la collaboration entre Alexandre Vauthier et Mellerio dits Meller.

"Imaginer et suivre entièrement l'élaboration d'une collection de Haute Joaillerie a

toujours été un rêve d'enfant" confie Alexandre Vauthier. Alexandre Vauthier découvre en septembre 2014 la Maison Mellerio, ses archives et son atelier. Il est alors marqué par la créativité et l'étendue du savoir-faire unique de cette Maison quadri-centenaire, la dernière indépendante et familiale de la place Vendôme. Cette rencontre signera une collaboration sans précédent entre le plus jeune membre accrédité de la Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture et la plus ancienne Maison de Joaillerie du monde. "Nos deux Maisons, en apparence si éloignées, se sont immédiatement retrouvées autour de

valeurs communes d'amour du métier d'art, d'indépendance et de créativité" souligne Gilles Haumont, Directeur Général de Mellerio International. Les archives, précieusement conservées depuis 1776 ont immédiatement inspiré le créateur. Ce dernier s'est plus particulièrement attardé sur une série de broches datant du XIXe siècle, le dessin d'une rivière de navettes et une gouache d'un bracelet architectural des années 1970. Le créateur a dessiné toute la collection d'un trait : quatre pièces de Haute Joaillerie et trois pièces de Joaillerie, qui seront développées et commercialisées à partir de Septembre 2015. Fasciné par l’émeraude, pierre fétiche de Mellerio, Alexandre Vauthier a souhaité en faire le fil "vert" de la collection. Résolument élégante, graphique et contemporaine, celle-ci met en lumière la précision du style du designer et le savoir-faire de la Maison Mellerio : des bijoux souples, mobiles et transformables. Structurés en ligne de fuite, les maillons des pièces de la collection Haute Joaillerie forment une succession de "V", l'initiale du créateur. Ce n'est que lors de la fabrication par le chef d'atelier que le "V" s'est révélé former le "M" de Mellerio, signant ainsi une collaboration prédestinée !

In! the! Mellerio! archives,! preciously! preserved! since! 1776,! Vauthier! was!

architectural!1970’s!bracelet.!!Vaulthier!designed!a!new!collection!in!one!stroke:!

Vauthier!chose!emeralds,!also!Mellerio’s! favorite!stone,!as!the!signature!gem!of!

the!new!collection.!Resolutely!elegant,!graphic!and!contemporary,!this!precious!

stone!emphasizes!the!precision!of!the!designer’s!style!and!the!craftsmanship!of!

Mellerio:!supple,!mobile,!and!transformable!jewellery.!!Structured!with!vanishing!

lines,! the! links! in! the! new! pieces! are! set! as! a! succession! of! «!V’s!»! resembling!

variations! of! the! designer’s! initials.! When! assembling! the! pieces,! Vauthier!

« LA VIE EST BELLE » of LANCÔME by MELLERIO

With more than four centuries of experience, heritage and know-how, Mellerio has become the ultimate symbol of French High Jewellery Tradition. The House’s integrity, independence and true vision enable it to uniquely customize its approach for discerning clients who wish to make timeless precious objects a part of their lives, especially in the most meaningful moments.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Lancôme’s creation by Armand Petitjean, the brand asked Mellerio to create a jewel, which will adorn the 80 flasks of the limited collection “La Vie est belle l’Extrait de Parfum”. They will be internationally commercialized at the end of the month of November, and only one flask will be sold in France, exclusively at the Printemps Haussmann.

Mellerio reinterpreted the wings of liberty, the organza bow draped around the neck of the bottle “La Vie est belle”, to create a pink gold coated silver piece. Several wings are pierced, others are chiselled inspired from a motif found in Lancôme’s archives, and the final ones are polished with the “mirror” technique, one of the three traditional metal treatment processes, used in jewellery. This ornament highlights the sublime glass smile dreamt up by Armand Petitjean and created in 2012 for “La Vie est belle”, using the latest glassmaking techniques.

Through this collaboration, Mellerio pays a special tribute to Armand Petitjean who imagined many precious jewelled objects at the beginning of the XXth century, demonstrating his know-how, creativity and visionary mind. It also turns out that Mellerio created magnificent beauty accessories, especially in the years 1920, 30 and 40, such as beauty boxes, lipstick and powder cases. We can also discover in the House archives exceptional drawings representing a rock crystal cream jar, inlaid with precious stones, dating right back from the 1850s!

It is with great pride and honour that Mellerio has accepted Lancôme’s request,

and has taken on the challenge of creating and to replicating 80 copies of this piece, a task probably never undertaken yet by the expert of the Made-to-measure ...
