But above all it is an opportunist omnivore that feasts on fruit, leaves, nuts, and insects depending on what it comes across on its travels. It is a social animal that lives in groups of between 5 and 20 and so the task of raising the young is not the mother’s sole responsibility. After the first weeks, other members of the group may look after the young monkeys. Although they are typically tree- dwellers, Capuchins are also ca- pable of living in varied habitats including dry forests, rainfor- ests and mangroves.
