FOR LADIES AND KIDS

Ways to protect ourselves byreducing the radiation coming from acell phone called a cell phone. How dowe know and follow the ways in whichcell phones can reduce radiation andprotect us? With cell phones becomingan essential ‘tool’ in today’s world, cellphone radiat ion is completelyunavoidable.

This is because even if the cellphone is not used, the radiation from thecell phone towers and the radiationemitted by others will be affected.Studies show that this is why birds havedisappeared from cities. In this case, it would be best forus and our family and descendants to know and followways to reduce radiation and protect ourselves.

It is important to note that there are twice as manydisadvantages as there are advantages to thesehandsets. Important among the disadvantages is thatthere is a huge risk that our brain will lose its function dueto its radiation. Experts say that radiation can cause twotypes of cancerous tumors in the brain (Gliomas andAcoustic neuromas).

People who use mobile phones for more than 30minutes a day are more likely to develop the disease. Sothe important thing is that we reduce the use of mobilephones.

Avoid using cell phones as much aspossible.Avoid using mobile phonesin those places if you have landlineusage. This is because mobilephones are more vulnerable thanlandline phones. If you want to convey any briefmessage to others, use the SMSfacility instead of making phonecalls.Do not talk or give cell phones tochildren. Children are at risk of beingeasily vaccinated because theyhave low immunity.Do not talk in rural areas where thesignal on your mobile phone is verylow. Radiation exposure is high.It is better to talk using the speakerfeature of mobile phones thantalking in the ear and talking onheadphones. But take care not todisturb others in public who speaklike this in public places. If you have a habit of sleeping withyour phone nearby, drop itimmediately.

When you communicate with others, bring the phone to your ear and talkas soon as he turns on your contact.Do not hold the ear when going to thering. This is because the ring emits 14times more radiation than the amountof radiation that occurs whenspeaking. When talking on cell phones, talk inthe left ear instead of in the right ear.Only the right side of the brain is morelikely to be affected.Avoid playing games on cell phonesas much as possible. Absolutely

avoid playing, especially when traveling. This isbecause the lens area in our eyes is likely to beaffected as the eyes take on difficulty.Avoid putting mobile phones in Vibrate Mode.Do not place cell phones in the left side pocket of theshirt. May reduce the chance of radiation affecting theheart. When talking on a cell phone, hold only two sides andtalk. Do not speak with the hands completely coveringthe back side. The internal antenna of your phone isoften placed in the middle of the back of the phone.See the instructions for this in your manual book.

5FEBRUARY 2021

More than anything, it was the songs that wereimportant in the film. For almost a year or two, thesesongs were heard in many villages and this madeThooku Thookki tremendously popular. Lalitha,Padmini, Balaiah and I acted in the film. For the firsttime, T.M. Soundararajan sang the songs written for me.It was possible to listen to these songs over and overagain without getting fed up. I was proud to be part of thismusical opera. As I said before, the real star of this filmwas the music.”

Though I did mentionChidambaram Jayaramanand Sirkazhi Govindarajanas masters in depicting thekarunya (pathos) rasam, even TMS was equallyadept in eliciting this rasam. He brought to life the well-known Bharathi’s poem ‘UnKannil Neer Vazhinthaal, ennenjil Uthiram Kodduthadi’

(When your eyesheds tear, my heart leaksblood) for Sivaji Ganesan’slips in the movie VietnamVeedu (1970). Another of my favorite TMS pathosmelody was the lullaby song Yen Piranthai Mahane, Yenpiranthayo? (Why you’re born son, why you were born?)in Baga Pirivinai (1959) for a handicapped SivajiGanesan character. In the same rank was anotherKannadasan lyric sung by TMS, Veedu Varai UravuVeethi varai manaivi (The kin up to home, the wife up tostreet) in Patha Kannikkai (1962) movie, describing thefinal journey of a corpse to the grave.

Moreover, in two of the three Tamil movies heacted in early 1960s, TMS played the character role oftwo Hindu saints of medieval India namely Pattinattarand Arunagiri. Both these saints were prolific Tamilpoets. By his acting and singing talent, TMS brought tolife the form and substance of the poetry of these twosaints as well.

If one has to mention a deficit in TMS’s endowedtalent, the general consensus was that ChidambaramJayaraman and Sirkazhi Govindarajan were betterconcert artistes than TMS. It may be because theirrepertoire and individual passion were richer.Jayaraman in particular promoted Tamil music per se inhis concerts and earned the title Tamil Isai Chittar (TamilMusic Mystic).

In my opinion, the Hindu devotional songs ofGovindarajan were an order higher than that of TMS. Ofcourse, TMS did contribute his share to Hindudevotional songs and we should bethankful for it. Other contemporarymovie singers of TMS.

A few words about othercontemporary Tamil movie singers arealso in order, to round up the majestyof the voice of TMS. Other than MGRand Sivaji Ganesan, there wasGemini Ganesan (1920-2005), whoenjoyed a long career in romanticroles in Tamil movies. Though TMSdid sing for this Ganesan as well, more often the ‘voice’ for Gemini

Ganesan’s was chosen among other singers likeGhantasala (1922-1974), A.M. Rajah (1929-1989) andP.B. Sreenivas (1930-2013). The last mentioned,Sreenivas died only a month before

the death of TMS. The voices of these three non-Tamilians were sweet and soft, but lacked the punch andpower for vira (heroic) rasam in which TMS excelled inTamil.

There were few othersingers like A.L. Raghavan,S.C. Krishnan and J.P.Chandrababu who excelledin humorous songs. Twoa c t o r - s i n g e r s ( K . R .R a m a s a m y a n d T. R .Mahalingam) had wonderfulsuccess in late 1940s andearly 1950s with theirpowerful voices, but fadedin the latter half of 1950swith the simultaneous rise inthe fortunes of MGR andSivaji Ganesan. Then, in1969 for his own movie

Adimai Penn (Slave Woman) and early 1970s, MGRpromoted S.P. Balasubramanyam (a Telugu native) andK.J. Yesudas (a Kerala native) for reasons known only tohim. When these two slowly gained a foot hold in Tamilmovie world, the grip TMS had in playback singing cameloose, partly due to his age.

In sum, TMS had a long life and by his gifted voiceearned the admiration of millions of Tamils as the polestar among the Tamil movie singers. Though his mortalremains had vanished, his voice will continue to live inmultimedia for long.

SAD DEMISE BROKEN IDOLSIdols, broken or worn out idols old damaged God

in the house, what odo? This issue / question is for everyone. Many

people leave fragmentary idols and pictures in theirhomes in a temple or on the roadside, under trees. Butknowingly or unknowingly doing so is a great sin.Unforgivable crime.

Do not neglect public and ruined things that arenot necessary after performing pujas while you are athome. Other religions make fun of our religion by lookingat pictures of ourHindu deities on theroadside. We shouldnot give them thatopportunity. Imagine ifyou had seen imagesof other religionssomewhere like that.

It is good tooffer (submit) imagesand idols to Agni Bhagavan that we do not need. Thusyou will come to doubt whether it is right to put 'spictures in the fire. But Agni Bhagavan is omnipotent.Sacred at all times. So it is not wrong to submit images of

in Pavithrakni (or) do ‘immersion’ (dissolution) in aflowing river or lake. But even if Agni submits to LordBhagavan and puts it in the river, one must first worshipthat idol / image and say that it is Parameswara, theabode of Kachcha Kachcha Surasreshta. Know that thisis also immersion (dissolving).

Let everyone know this. It is our duty. FollowDharma. Defend Dharma.
