Jean-Philippe Weimerlighting designer
The very first time you meet Jean-Philippe Weimer, it’s like co-ming face to face with an oak tree. His feet are firmly planted in the earth that he respects and cherishes. His foundations are his convictions. His search for beauty is his stance. That is why he allows his mind to dream. His mind is a willow at the water’s edge; traveling, undulating, sketching, thinking of nothing but creating. It invents subtleties for reality between the present, the future and the past. By tuning in to his voice, moving his leaves and branches, listening to his silences, one may catch a glimpse of other trees within him. The light feeds the forest. The forest gives life to light.
His profileJean-Philippe Weimer is self taught, intuitive, creative and a perfectionist.
His workTo invent innovative plays of light that integrate in situ in perfect harmony with the landscape and the architecture.
His conceptTo go unnoticed To illuminate with the greatest attention and accuracy a landscape, a tree, foliage and its shadows, or me-rely a leaf For every garden, it is poetry and mystery. For every light, it is design. For every effect, it is a unique and invisible tool Light is transcended when one can not guess where it comes from.
His realizationsEach lighting fitting designed by Jean-Philippe Weimer is unique. It is fully integrated with its environment however complex it is. It is made of natural materials such as copper, bronze, stainless steel, wood, brass, and stone.
His philosophy“Custom design” Jean-Philippe Weimer studies the lighting re-quirements of a project in its entirety: From the analysis of the landscape, to the design of the object, right through to its ins-tallation and integration He entrusts his workshop with the ma-nufacture and the marketing of his work (SENDIE SA). He works in partnership with colleagues who share the same appetite for perfection. He delegates the technical aspect of the project to his lighting technicians. He coordinates the implementation and the monitoring of the project, and acts as foreman by perfor-ming lighting tests and ultimate adjustments on site.

It is in his studio of arts associated to light that JPW develops his design researchs and begins working on the original lighting plans of gardens.
Each garden needs a specific lighting project, the invention of special devices and exclusive objects adapted to the particular needs of the landscape.
Observing the land, being aware of the sight, listening the client, create the essential first steps of Jean Philippe Weimer’s creation based on the art of entertaining. The human, the vege-tal, the states of light.
Night is his play ground.Light his raw material.
The creations of Jean Philippe Weimer create an unexpected conversation between shadows and lights. His light scenes reinvent the garden as a field of perception. The visual expe-rience that he offers shows unknown spaces and glorifies new perspectives.
Night, light, garden as an invitation to look for meaning.Jean Philippe’s fundamental support is a making the invisible beautifull.
The subtility of his realizations writes a light story that inte-grate the lamps so much that they disappear or become hy-bride. The lighting products melt with the vegetal. The vegetal becomes light.
