Area 1 CURRICULUMWe continually examine ways in which to improve the educational experience for ourstudents. I attend conferences and read extensively about new methods, programs andcurrent research. The committee discusses the many area of instruction within thesystem, as well as assessment results. I serve on the Transformational Team for RttT,which is working on a new teacher evaluation system. I have been involved with ourPEAK Program (peaceful environment at Kenston) since its beginning. We are a "workin progress" as we expand our reach and deepen our knowledge of how to make abullying program effective.Obviously, the facets of curriculum are broad ... too broad for complete review in thisspace. Basically, my educational experience of longstanding is a valuable asset on thiscommittee.Area 2 PUBLIC RELATIONSPublic education is vital to the success of our nation. We need its citizens to be engagedand informed. Since the majority of our citizens are not directly involved with KenstonSchools, it is imperative we establish lines of communication which engender trust inour decisions. I helped launch our IN THE KNOW Email Program with the intention ofreaching these very citizens. We are constantly expanding ways to involve seniorcitizens. Kenston communication is key. Informed people are interested people. Andwe need them.Area 3 FINANCEAs a Board, we are duty bound to be excellent stewards of tax dollars received. And weare! We constantly work on ways to better utilize the citizens' moneys. We are one of thefirst schools in Ohio to have a wind power project. We are currently developing ways toexpand our nonrenewable energy portfolio. We are researching better programs for longdistance learning when class sizes are low. We are involved in a First Energy RebateProgram. Several departments have been reconfigured to implement cost savings. And, of course, we continually keep abreast of the new bills coming from the Statelegislature.WHY I SHOULD BE REELECTEDI am uniquely qualified to serve the Kenston Schools and the Bainbridge/AuburnCommunity. My involvement with both spans 44 years ... as a parent, grandmother,Kenston teacher, community leader and now as a present board member. My eight grandchildren in Kenston provide one perspective of the schools. My 22 yearsas a Kenston teacher provide another. But most of all, my lifelong passion for education, coupled with my commitment andenergy make me a positive member of the Kenston Board. I'm running for reelectionbecause I'm confident my experience and enthusiasm are beneficial to Kenston Schools.I love the job!
