Even the most ambitious mar-ket forecasts for new and al-ternative powertrain concepts indicate a clear tendency: The combustion engine (ICE) – and especially the Diesel en-gine - is still going to be an irreplaceable technology for transportation. Two require-ments drive the entire trans-portation industry nowadays: the substantial reduction of GHG emissions towards a car-bon-neutral mobility by 2050 and the reduction of pollutant emission to meet air quality requirements even in the most congested urban areas. These demands drive further conse-quent development and opti-mization.
During this conference, we will highlight the significant poten-tial of diesel engines as part of future powertrain portfolios for Light-Duty applications as well as HD On-/Off-Highway installations. The never-ending refinement of the classical ICE
towards improved efficiency, lowered CO2 output and mini-mized pollutant emissions re-mains still a key aspect of pro-pulsion system engineering. Further significant reductions of GHG and pollutant emis-sions can be achieved through the transition to new fuels pro-duced from renewable sources to novel and enhanced specifi-cations. Additive manufactur-ing and composite materials enable enhanced functionality for highly stressed engine components and thereby offer unprecedented freedom for optimizing powertrain design. Electrification of the Diesel en-gine is another promising ap-proach to combine the advan-tages of different engineering sectors and create synergies for the future. The latest de-velopments demonstrate, that Diesel-powered vehicles are among the cleanest vehicles available in the marketplace, while maintaining their supe-rior fuel economy compared

to other propulsion systems. Its high efficiency positions the Diesel engine as an attrac-tive element for future power-train lineups even under more tightened regulatory boundary conditions and simultaneously altering market conditions.
The 6th edition of FEV’s inter-national expert conference "Diesel Powertrains 3.0" is for the first time integrating HD On-/Off-Highway themes into the program and will be host-ed in Turin, Italy on July 8–9, 2020. In addition, we are de-
lighted to announce, that the FEV conference will be an inte-gral part of the comprehensive CO2 reduction for Transpor-tation Systems conference of ATA/ANFIA and SAE Torino. As a highly focused engineer-ing community meeting, the event will provide valuable in-depth insights into novel and upcoming technological inno-vations for the next generation of sustainable Diesel-engine propulsion systems. Join the conference in 2020 with an at-tractive contribution from your enterprise and provide us with
a title and an abstract till De-cember 10th, 2020.
With best regards
