Un citoyen canadien est quelqu’un qui est né au Canada ou quelqu’un d’un autre pays A Canadian citizen is someone who was born in Canada or someone from another country who has resided here for a period of three years and has sworn an oath of Citizenship. The Oath of Citizenship is as follows: ``I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, according to law and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfill my duties as a Canadian citizen.``

The oath states: ``fulfill my duties as a Canadian citizen.`` Duties are like responsibilities. They are things you are expected to do!
