Nguyễn Thanh Tú Ted, 51 years old, of Beaumont, Texas was born on June 25th, 1967 in Đà Nẵng, Việt Nam. He left this world to be with the Lord Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 at 2:30 PM.

He is preceded in death by his father, Nguyễn Toàn, parents-in-law Lee Joe Woods and Diann Woods.

He is survived by his mother, Trần Thị Phước; wife, Shatosa Citizen; son, Nguyễn Jaylon Peter; daughter, Nguyễn Nhia; stepson, Travien Citizen, stepdaughter Jamie Citizen; stepson Austin Citizen; sister Đức and husband Minh; sister Trang; sister Thu Kate; sister Vân Victoria and husband Huy; sister Hà and husband Bình; brother Tân and wife Hằng; sister Tâm and husband Trung; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gathering Rite

The mass begins, as at Baptism, when Ted’s body is led by the priest intothe midst of the community of faith. As he is covered by a white Pall andis blessed with holy water, and as he rests beneath the light of the Eastercandle, we recall Ted’s first birth with Christ at Baptism. We pray thathis soul may find rest and peace in Christ, and that on the Last Day he willrise to be with Christ, the Risen Lord. (Please stand and face the rear ofthe Church)

READING I

A reading from the book of Wisdom

The just man, though he die early shall be at rest. For the age that ishonorable comes not with the passing of time nor can it be measured interms of years. Rather, understanding is the hoary crown for men, andan unsullied life, the attainment of old age. He who pleased God wasloved; hewho lived among sinnners was transported. Snatched away, lestwickedness pervert his mind or deceit beguile his soul; For the witcheryof paltry things obscures what is right and the whirl of desire transformsthe innocent mind. Having become perfect in a short while, he reachedthe fullness of a long carrer; for his soul was pleasing to the Lord,therefore he sped him out of the midst of wickedness. But the people sawand did not understand, nor did they take this into account. Becausegrace and mercy are with his holy ones, and his care is with his elect.

A reading from the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians

We know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we havea building from God, a dwelling not made with sands, eternal in heaven.

So we are always courageous, although we know that while we are athome in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not bysight. Yet we are courageous, andwewould aspire to please him, whetherwe are at home or away. For we must all appear before the judgmentseat of Christ, so that each one may receive recompense, according towhat he did in the body, whether good or evil.

Rite of Commendation

Incensing: The fragrant smoke of incense reminds us that our prayers,like incense, rise to Heaven. With the sweet smelling incense, we honorthe body of our brother, Ted, which has become at Baptism, a Temple ofthe Holy Spirit.
