in« tiBvvji wijj a nmpiioc tu Mi. Swanson's friends throughout the county. It is said tbat while the deal is not finally clostd, negotiations are practically completed. Mr. Swanson is one of tbe best known citizens of bis pare uf tbe couuty, has wielded a virile editorial pen, and his paper baa been a valuable factor In the growth and development of Royalton and the surrounding country. His d parture will be regretted, and tbe connty will lot-e a good citizen when he leaves. It i9 raid Mr. Swanson will se-k a larger field.
Mr. Joslin is not a newspaper man, and will probably put some one in
i charge of tbe paper. An interesting part of the transac
tion is teat it is said that >*r. Jatlin j will ba sppointed poftma^ter on the re.'igfjcitiofi of Mr. S^acsou. This
jcoes not suit some -eople of Koyaltou, | &nti a petitioa of protest, it is said,
will be pat in cir ulntion. So that a li%ely post flice contest is expected. Man? think that Geo. Wilson deserves
; the plrce, and that he would make a good pofctma^ter.

RUMOR THAT J. H. SEAL WILL BE MELROSE POSTMASTER.
St. dond Times: Some business men of Melrose visiting in the city on Saturday state tbat tbere is a ru mor going the roands at that place that Postmaster John Kolb is to be displaced. The rumor has it that Prof. Seal, of the city schools, is booked for the position. Seal is said o have done a whole lot of hustling
for Lindbergh for congress, and this, in addition to the fact that he is a brother-in-law of the congressman elect, leads those who claim to be on the "inside" to believe that the xn-mor is well founded. The poistofflce will be moved shortly after the first of the year to the Hoeschen building.
A NEW BUSINESS BLOCK. Theo. Brockhoff, a well known
hardware merchant and prominent business man of Wadena, has pur chased a business lot on Broadway, in the vicinity of Hennlng Landahl's office and contemplates the erection of a brick business block early in the spring. Mr. Brockhoff's plans as to the disposition of the blook when completed have not yet been announced.
The equipment of the Little Falls Business College is second to none in the Northwest. Its the school tor you,

If tbe sipply.tank is placed ootside cf t£e risk a safe distance from the burning building, say over 10 feet, and the removal of the danger of filling inside the building, we will pass that feature as approV9d. You will notice that unprotected hollow wires from supply tanks to the inside flame generators or common lamp generators, are hazardous, and where not properly protected or installed as per Item b, on Page No. 14, or where such hollow tubing is exposed to being knocked against, loose, or otherwise liable to accident, or wbere lamps are
> too close to the ceiling, or for portable or table lamps, a charge should be added to the rate of the building and stock for such hazard. The flame generator should be protected with a suitable rcetal box with door, and so installed that there will be no danger to woodwork or other surroundings in case of over beating. Where such generators are not safe a cbaiVo hl.'Onld be ftads. If the su* :k>; damage from over-heated flame generator box could be confined in an enclosed room cot off from the main stuck, it would of course be advantageous.
It is the intention to make the charges for these several bad features accumulative, so that a system with one defect will be charged but a small minimum amount, and one with several defects to receive the maximum.
Your systems in nearly every case have more tban one defect es named above. When reduced to one charge we shall be pleased to credit in our present rate.
We enclose a copy of the different permits for gasolene lights and systems which will enable you to see what conditione there are no permits for.
Yours truly, Walter I. Fisher,

FaGkinson. will arrive at Mora this evening and will leave once for Mille Laco. There is great excitement in the lake country and th^ sturdy pioneers tbat have waited so long for a railro.d feel that their hopes are to be realized at last. If the Soo dees build into tbe lake country it is very probable tbat tbe Great Northern will build an extension from
*ftlikc-i north to connect with one of its northern lines. There is strong rivalry between the Soo and the Great Northern and it is not likely that Jim Hill will sit calmly by and see the Soo invade its territory.
•Should tne Great Northern build this extension it would furnish Mille Lacs lake with unexcelled railroad facilities, giving it direct lines to the twin cities and to Duluth and Superior. This would insure the rapid development of tbe Mille Lacs lake and make it a popular summer resort, as it woald be easy of access from all nearby centers of population.

There are plenty of surveving crews in tbe field. Do tbey mean anything? Or is it simply a bis bluff on the part of the Soo to make the N. P. get down to business and give it favorable rates on hauling its grain cars from Glen wood to Duluth? „ Time will tell.
