Reflection on Next Sunday Readings - 9:15 AM Sun. February 2nd: Presentation of the Lord In the Gospel, Luke paints a remarkable scene for us. A soft footfall on the pavement of the Temple interrupts the noise of official and private prayers, said or sung in Hebrew, as a couple approaches the small altar where the offerings of the poor are made. Then the Passover of the firstborn of Isra-el during the tenth plague of Egypt is recalled by an offering of the first fruits of the womb. But unlike all the other ransom-ing of the firstborn of Israel in this Temple, which have been symbols or recollections of the older Passover or ransoming, this offering and ransom is the event of which all the others were merely prophecies. All the offerings made on sand-scoured desert altars or barren heights, all the offerings made in the echoing cham-bers of this Temple—through thousands of years—point only to this offering, which passes through the hands of a poor provincial girl.

SACRED HEART VALENTINE’S SOCIAL Gene’s Bar & Grill Mon. Feb. 10th

LAST DAY TO SIGNUP IS FEBRUARY 2ND Good Food! Good Entertainment! Good Company! The Valentine Social for Sacred Heart for parish adult mem-bers is at Gene’s on Monday, February 10th. Sign-up sheets are at the church entrance to select your entrée choice: BBQ Ribs or Shrimp We all know it is important to socialize with our parish mem-bers. It is a true blessing which reaps many benefits.

January 26, 2020 - 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time "He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father

and followed Him." (Matthew 4:22) Just as Jesus called the first apostles, He calls each of us to follow Him, too. Not everyone is called to leave their business or family be-hind, but we are expected to put God first in everything. Everything from our time in daily prayer, our talent in participating in one of our parish ministries, and our treasure to support the financial needs of our parish mission.

Financial Committee Mtg.– Sacred Heart January 20th 1. Reviewed latest financial reports. Need to check on a cou-ple of figures that seem to be in the wrong expense category. 2. Steve Pavek reviewed with us the Building Team and Cap-ital Campaign update that will be presented to the parishion-ers along with a tour of the building after the Masses on the weekend of Feb. 8-9 and after the 5:15 Mass on Thurs. Feb. 13. It was good to see the positive picture of the finances and the building progress. 3. Feb. 1-2 weekend is the kickoff for this year’s Diocesan Annual Appeal. Adam Munstenteiger on Saturday and Adam Erdmann on Sunday will read the bishop’s letter and present the case for this year’s appeal. On the Feb. 8-9 weekend we are going back to filling out our pledge envelopes at church. 4. Fr. John has not yet worked on the Stewardship presenta-tion we hope to do this year again at all the Masses. 5. Fr. John has a person who will be cleaning his house on a regular basis. 6. Suggestion that we remind people in adult formation about cost for books and materials . 7. Cleaning of the church after construction is finished. Will speak with building team about getting an estimate to have at least the cleaning above 8 feet high done by a professional cleaning team. It would save us quite a bit to do as much as we can ourselves. 8. It was noted that some parishes send thank you notes when visitors make a donation by check. It makes a very positive impression. 9. The building team is in discussion about painting the walls and sprinkler pipes in the church a beige color to better hide the appearance of the pipes. 10. Next meeting dates: Monday, Feb. 24 at 5:15 and Tues-day, April 14 at 5:15.

The Roseau Knights of Columbus have moved their

next meeting time to 9:00 AM on Sunday, Feb. 9 and

will serve a pancake breakfast after the 10:30 Mass

that day.

Date Changes: • KC Breakfast– February 9th following Mass • KC Meeting- February 9th before 9am Mass

GROW IN YOUR FAITH

JAN 26 • 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Following Jesus Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people. (Matthew 4:23) • Adults: To whom could you preach the gospel of Jesus

Christ this week with actions rather than words? • Kids: What could you do for someone this week that

would tell them something about Jesus?
