Who we are?

The department of wood processing

and buildings is one of the two mainApicom Company departments,besides that of building materialsdistribution. Passion outcome and thetradition in woodwork that exists inHarghita county, our main product -the timber houses - are appreciated bybeneficiaries from all over Europe -over 90% of our production havingyearly been exported. For example,out of 80 houses built in 2003, 70have been transported and puttogether in France, Germany, Italy,Spain and Hungary.

Development

The accelerated programme ofinvestments into this department - indeveloping during 2004 - will have asa result an important productiongrowth, the raising of the qualitativelevel by the implementation of newand modern technologies and thus,the diversification of the range ofproducts with a large degree ofp ro ce ss i n g a n d co mp l e x i ty .

By this, we intend not only to satisfythe increasing requirements of ourclients from abroad, but also toexpand our presence on the buildingmarkets and of our timber products inRomania.

What we produce?

Apicoms main wood processing

activity is timber-house building fordwelling and holiday. These may beproduced in 6 Apicom standardvariants, by following our own plansor modified as required by the client orusing the clients original plans.

Besides the house building, we offerour clients consulting and assistanceservices, both for the architectural andtechnical projects. In addition, bymeans of the distribution department,we assure the entire building mat erialsand finishings necessary, as well as thecalculation and projection of thematerial need.

We also produce a series of othersmaller buildings and finite productsused in decorations: pagodas and

garden furniture, houselets andplayspaces for children, componentsfor terraces, kennels, fences andaccesories, flower stands, etc.

In addition to these, we also producesemi-finished products for theindusrty of constructions, such as:timber doors and window frames,timber partition, floor boards, slatsboards and girders, etc.

Advantages

Timber constructions enjoy a series of

advantages, in contrast with otherbuildings that are using traditionalbuilding materials.

Durability - the fireproof timbertogether with t he impregnated oneused in Apicom house buildinghave a prolongued duration,exceeding the medium durability oftraditional building materials.

Elasticity - the timber elasticitydoesnt allow the appearence ofcracks and diminishes the earth-quake vibrations and the seismicwaves. The installing of centralheating equipment, plumbing andinner centralization mean, at thesame time, low prices.

Short building time - a cons-truction finished over a short periodof time, means also low prices.

Thermic and phonic isolation -due to t he materials used, there isobtained a thermic and phonicsuperior isolation value.

Fireproof protection - the woodused in Apicom house building isfireproof protected by means ofchemical solutions, having a fireresistance up to 90 minutes atflames (class of resistance to flamesF90 B-DIN).

Low prices - the price of timberhouses is more reduced than that ofother traditional building materials.

Timber breathes - the inner air renews

in about 24 hours - and it has a hydro-scopic bearing which perfectly adjuststhe internal humidity level, creating ahealthy microclimate. Therefore, atimber house is a healthy one, in wichthe comfort and the biological lifeprotection is optimum. in addition,using timber in constructions, adds tothis a specific natural valency: texture,co lour, e legance and natura lfragrance.

Life and health

Fireproof treated and against degra-dation, the Apicom timber - used inbuilding - is durable, assuring simulta-neously a good thermic isolation. Inaddition, due to its elasticity, thetimber used in constructions presentsa low earthquake risk.

Structure and walls

Apicom suggests 6 standard timberhouse types to the clients, dis-tinguishable according to thedestination, area, structure andfinishings.

The constructive variants are estab-

lished together with the client, thelatest choosing the type of thewindows and doors, the materials forroof, the thermoisolation andfinishings, etc.

A large range of materials andfinishing solutions are offered byApicom, by means of its buildingmaterials distribution department:hydro- and thermoisolating buildingmaterials, roof solutions, windowsand att ics, ceramics sanitaryinstallments, parquet lacquers andpaints.

At request, t hese 6 representativestandard types can be architecturallymodified, as required by the client.

Additional t o these pre-definite types,Apicom builds holiday and dwellinghouses taking into account the clientsown building projects.

The roof

There are a lot of t echnologies used inbuilding Apicom houses, concerningthe structure and t he walls, accordingto t he clients preferences:

Apicom suggests 6 standard timberhouse types to the clients, dis-tinguishable according to thedestination, area, structure andfinishings.

Sandwich - resistance skeletoncovered with a 10-15 cm timberpartition, prepared for isolation.The inner timber parti tion may bereplaced by ghips cardboard.

Girders I - simple construction, 42mm double grooved girders.

Girders II - 42 mm girder, doublegrooved construction with possi-bilities of isolation by the adding ofa resistance skeleton.

Massive I - 70 mm girderconstruction, double grooved, withpossibilities of isolation. The innerwalls consisting of a resistanceskeleton covered with t imber parti-tion or with ghips cardboard.

Massive II - 90 mm girderconstruction, double grooved, withpossibilities of isolation. The innerwalls consisting of a resistanceskeleton covered with timberpartition or with ghips cardboard.

The structure of t he roof is based onthe following categories of 7,5x15 cmrafters:

for tile roof, counter slates and tileslates are needed

for bitumened tile roofs, 20 mmcalibrated board is needed

for roofs with corrugated plates,5x5 cm slates are needed.

Thermoisolation

Glasswool is the t hermoisolantmaterial used, which provides anefficient thermo and phonic isolation.The glasswool, a natural material(obtained from bazalt) is a very goodthermic and phonic isolator (0,033 -0,035 W/m K) wit h a reduced specificweight (30 - 100 kg/m3).

Double grooved timber girders for constructions. The timber istreated and precisely processed assuring a perfect double groove join and,at the same time, assuring stability and rigidity of construction and a goodthermic and phonic isolation.

Sandwich type structure. On the inner side of the walls, theglass wool is covered by a layer in order t o stop t he vapors formedbetween the partition surface, between the hot and cold medium.On the exterior side, the air void that remains maked the formedvapors become dry.
