INTRODUCTION

There are some element that we have to know in a short or novel. When we

are reading a novel, we have to find these elements; those are themes, plot,

settings, characteristics, and many more. According to the African Writers Siries

(Kehinde), we are going to do the characterisation. In this interesting novel, we have

found a lot of characters, whether main characters or minor characters.

Main characters are the most or more important characters in a story, while

minor characters are the less important characters. In this story, the main characters

are Kehinde and Albert. Both of them are Nigerians.

There are a lot of minor characters in this nice story, such as Joshua, Bimpe,

Moriammo, Prahbu, and many more. All of these minor characters are used to

support the main characters.

After reading and analysing this Emecheta’s masterpiece, we have found so

many charactersatics of the characters. We list them, including some evidences from

the text.

wanted. They loved it, despite its plainness. (ch. 1, pg 2, line 31)

6. Plump Kehinde, who had never been thin, was now, at thirty-five and

after the birth of two children and years of eating takeaway fish

REFLECTION

Alhamdulillah, a colossal grateful to the Almighty, because of his bless, we

could finish this assignment. This is our first assignment for this semester, and we

really enjoy doing it.

From the beginning, I was so happy when our English teacher, Mrs. Loo gives

us this assignment. This is because, we love the story ‘Kehinde’ so much. Even

though we have not finished reading the short story yet, we can imagine the story

quite well. This make us so exited to finish reading it. In a short period of time, we

succeed. We enjoyed reading it, because it is full of new vocabulary, and easy to

understand.

For us, the period of time given to complete this assignment was suitable. We

do not have to be too rush to finish it. Therefore, we can manage my time properly

while doing this assignment.

Besides, we also can learn a lot of new things, especially the Nigerian culture,

and about life. After doing this assignment, we noticed that life is so precious, but

meaningful.

Eventually, a lot of thank you to our Language Study teacher, Mdm.

Rosemary Lee Chiong Kee, for the useful guide during this assignment. To our

beloved friends, your helps were really appreciated. Thank you.
