Preface

The 4th International Conference on Technology Trends (CITT 2018) was held on themain campus of Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo (UTB), Ecuador, during August29–31, 2018, and it was jointly organized and supported by three recognizedEcuadorian institutions: Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo, Universidad PolitécnicaSalesiana, and Universidad de Cuenca. The CITT series of conferences aim to becomethe premier venue for research on technology trends. It brings together top researchersand practitioners working in different domains in the field of computer science andinformation systems to exchange their expertise and to discuss the perspectives ofdevelopment and collaboration in these areas. The purpose of CITT is to facilitatetechnology and knowledge exchange among researchers, academics, and industry so asto benefit from the advances in computing technologies. The content of this volume isrelated to the following subjects:

CITT 2018 received 204 submissions in English from 269 authors coming from 17different countries. All these papers were peer-reviewed by the CITT 2018 ProgramCommittee consisting of 214 high-quality researchers coming from 24 differentcountries. To assure a thorough review process, we assigned at least three reviewers toeach paper. Based on the results of the peer reviews, 53 full papers were accepted,resulting in a 26% acceptance rate, which was within our goal of less than 40%.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the invited speakers for theirinspirational talks, to the authors for submitting their works to this conference, and thereviewers for sharing their experience during the selection process.
