WHAT IS THECADETINSTRUCTORSCADRE (CIC)?� Officers of the Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC) are

members of the Canadian Forces Reserve whose

primary duty is the supervision, administration and

training of teenaged youth of the Royal Canadian

Sea, Army and Air Cadets in Corps and Squadrons

across Canada. Opportunities exist for summer

full time employment at any of the Cadet Summer

Training Centres located throughout Canada.

(see map on pages 5 & 6)

WHERE TO START?

� Locate a Cadet Corps or Squadron near you by

visiting cadets.ca/cic, and contact them directly to

inquire about available vacancies.

� The Commanding Officer of your chosen corps

or squadron will forward your completed

application to the Regional Cadet Support Unit

Headquarters for review. It is then sent to the

nearest Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre for

processing (see page 11). The CF Recruiting

Centre will contact you for an interview.

LE CADRE DES INSTRUCTEURS DE CADETS (CIC),DE QUOI S’AGIT-IL AU JUSTE?� Le Cadre des instructeurs de cadets (CIC) sont des officiers de la Réserve des Forces canadiennes qui ont comme responsabilité primaire la

supervision, l’administration et l’instruction des jeunes cadets royaux de la Marine, de l’Armée et de l’Air du Canada. Durant l’été,

les instructeurs ont la possibilité de travailler à temps plein à l’un des centres d’instruction d’été des cadets situés un peu partout au pays,

(voir la carte aux pages 5 et 6).

PAR OÙ COMMENCER?

� Informez-vous directement de tout

poste disponible auprès du corps de

cadets ou de l’escadron le plus près,

(visitez cadets.ca/cic).

� Une fois que le commandant du corps

ou de l’escadron aura fait vérifier votre

demande au quartier général de l’Unité

régionale de soutien aux cadets,

celle-ci sera transmise au Centre de

recrutement des Forces canadiennes le

plus près (voir page 12), qui vous

convoquera à une entrevue.

WHO CAN BECOME ACIC OFFICER

THE CANADIAN CADET ORGANIZATION

� Consists of a variety of challenging and rewarding activities;

� Provides a dynamic and structured youth program at no cost to

Canadian Youth aged 12 to 18; and

� Employs over 7,500 officers of the Cadets Instructors Cadre who

train more than 60,000 Sea, Army and Air Cadets in over 1,100

Cadet Corps and Squadrons across Canada.

The Aim of the program is:

• To develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and

leadership;

• To promote physical fitness; and

• To stimulate an interest in the Sea, Land and Air activities of

the Canadian Forces.

� You must be between 18 and 64 years of age;

� You must hold a secondary school diploma or equivalent;

� You must be a Canadian citizen;

� You must meet specific screening requirements common to most

organizations working with youth; and

� You must meet the minimum CF medical standard.

CONDITIONS D’ADMISSIBILITÉ� Avoir de 18 et 64 ans;

� Posséder un diplôme d’études secondaires ou

l’équivalent;

� Être citoyen canadien;

� Répondre aux critères normalement imposés par

les organismes oeuvrant auprès de la jeunesse; et

� Réussir l’examen médical de base des Forces

canadiennes.

L’ORGANISATION CANADIENNE DES CADETS :

� Offre gratuitement aux jeunes de 12 à 18 ans un

programme dynamique et structuré;

� Propose une variété d’activités stimulantes et

valorisantes; et

� Comprend plus de 7 500 instructeurs militaires

chargés de la formation de plus de 60 000

cadets de la Marine, de l’Armée et de l’Air répartis

dans plus de 1 100 corps et escadrons partout

au Canada.

Les objectifs du programme sont :

• le civisme et le leadership;

• la bonne forme physique; et

• un intérêt pour les éléments mer, terre et air

des Forces canadiennes.

Not so long ago, I was a cadet and I always

looked up to my officers. They took the time to

listen to me and guide me through a difficult time

in my life. When the time came for me to join,

I never thought twice about doing it. It was my

turn to give back!

Last year, I graduated from Nursing School.

The income I received as a CIC officer employed

at a Cadet Summer Training Centre has not only

helped me pay for my tuition, but the experience

I received helped me land a really great job!

I’m 50 and I did it! I joined the CIC. Becoming a

youth leader was challenging but the rewards are

a thousand times greater and gives me a great

sense of personal satisfaction.

J’ai voyagé partout au Canada pour travailler dans

les différents Centres d’instruction d’été des

cadets. Je me suis lié d’amitié avec des gens

formidables et mon sens de l’aventure et du défi

ont été comblé à 100%.

Dans ma communauté, je suis reconnu pour mes

capacités organisationnelles, mon professional-

isme et pour le développement des jeunes leaders

de demain. Je fais une différence et je suis fière

de faire partie du CIC.

J’ai joint le CIC à mes débuts d’étude collégiale

et cela m’a donné un bon coup de pouce pour

payer mes études. Je suis maintenant sur le

marché du travail et ce deuxième revenu me

satisfait totalement!

� Training begins upon enrolment at your local

corps or squadron. Formal training is conducted

at Regional Cadet Instructors Schools (RCIS)

located throughout the country (see map on

pages 5 & 6). Courses can either be offered

consecutively or over several weekends,

depending on your availability and the regional

training schedule. Some courses are also

available on-line through Internet distributed

learning, allowing you to study from home.

A well-trained leader is a valuable addition to our

cadre. Therefore, we pay you and cover the cost

of the course. The list of all available courses is

located at cadets.ca/cic.

� La formation commence dès l’inscription au corps ou à l’escadron local. De la formation

plus formelle vous sera donnée par l’une des Écoles régionales d’instructeurs de cadets

(ERIC) répartis à travers le pays, (voir la carte aux pages 5 et 6). Les cours sont dispensés

d’un seul bloc ou échelonnés sur plusieurs fins de semaine en fonction de votre disponibilité

et du programme régional d’enseignement. Certains sont offerts sur Internet, ce qui permet

d’étudier à domicile.

Comme nous tenons à la grande compétence des leaders qui se joignent à nous, nous

offrons une rémunération et les cours sont gratuits, (visitez cadets.ca/cic pour consulter la

liste des cours).
