CHOICE OF STAFF IN CHARGE.

That choice plays a large part in the satisfaction each user may expect from his machine and from its work. Our acquired experience, after years of sales of our machines, allows us to declare :

"Bverywhere our machines are attended to and serviced by cogipetent staff, they give total satisfaction".

When running incidents occur, in most cases they are due to the fact that the staff in charge have an unsufficient knowledge of the machine (during the first months of use) or to a careless and négligent staff.

Our machines are not delicate - far from it They are valuable tools whose functioning and servicing require regular care. To attend and •service car machines, no special knowledge is required. A good general mechanical knowledge suffices (particularly for the packing machines). First of ail, the staff in charge MUST LIKE THEIR MACHINE. ?

»

Consequently, there is what we wish to recommend, regarding the attendance to our machines. This is for your benefit as well as for ours :

- One man should be NAMELY RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS MACHINE. That way he will like it, be interested in it, and learn ail that is to be known about it. First of ail, it must be avoided to let the machine be attended to by différent people with NO RESPONSIBILITY.

- You should choose a serious man, trustworthy, and very regular at his work. Our erector and our engineer will teach him during commissionning, and they will perfect his knowledge during the scheduled Visits we recommend you to ask from us.

- The man in charge should be brought to consider the machine as HIS OWN, to be attached to it, and to take pride in attending to it and servicing it under the best possible conditions.

IN YOUR INTEREST AS WELL AS IN OURS, for the efficiency of your machine • and for keeping it in good working condition and with a good appearance, we recommend you to SCRUPULOUSLY respect the prescriptions of the present instruction notice.

vili - TOP IMPORTANT SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS,

ELECTRICITY TO EARTHP

To be realised with a cable of similar section and type as the general feeding cable» To be linked to the special red painted screw positioned on the connecting box of the churning motor, and on the milk factory general earth connection, (This earth lead is provided in the 4 lead cable for the churning and working motors). • The earth connection is most important for the SAFETY OF THE ATTENDING ' STAFF. In case of an accident due to a wrong earth connection, the penal responsibility of the client might be engaged. .

WE EXPRES3ELY RECOMMEND OUR' CLIENTS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT, AT ALL TIMES, THE FOLLOWING SAFETY RULES, AND TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL THEIR ENGINEERS, AS. WELL AS ANY OTHER PEOPLE,, ARE" CONSTANTLY AWARE OF THESE RULES, AND THAT THEY TAKE ALL DISPOSITIONS AND PRECAUTIONS IN VIEW OF PREVENTING,. AND HENCE AVOID, ANY PERSONAL OR MATERIAL GRAVE ACCIDENT. WE CAN IN NO CASE BE HELD ' RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE ACCIDENTS.

One- must avoid to engage a hand or'a tooL into 'the- machine,-be .it for controlling or for: checking the functioning of the machine in any way. All the mechanical elements treating the butter are protected AND IN NO CASE THE COVERS OR INSPECTION WINDOWS MUST BE REMOVED WHILE THE MACHINE IS RUNNING.

BEFORE PROCEEDING TO ANY MECHANICAL OR ELSE INTERVENTION,,/ ACCESS -TO THE " IMiER PARTS OF THE MACHINE IS TO BE FORBIDDEN, AS LONG-AS.'IT HAS NOT BEEN ^ ASCERTAIN) THAT THE MAIN IS OFF, AND THAT THE.MACHINE IS TOTALLY DISCONNECTED.

IX. CREAM FEEDING.

A TOP IMPORTANT REMARKS.

THE WAY THE CREM FEEDING OP A CONTIMAB 13.MADE HAS A CAPITAL INFLUENCE on the obtained results : OUTPUT - TEXTURE - BUTTER quality -BUTTERMILK LOOSES. WE HENCEFORTH HIGHLY RECOIíMEND TO CAREíFULLY FOLLOW OUR INDICATIONS, AND TO GIVE AN EXTREME ATTENTION TO THE WAY THE CREAM FEEDING INSTALLATION ' IS CONCEIVED AND REALISED. The main rule-is to-obtain AN ABSOLUTELY CONSTANT AND REGULAR CREAM FEEDING, if poss'ible AT ZERO PRESSURE, or at a maximum pressure of 100 grams. THIS IS IMPERATIVE.

B - TWO different types of cream feeding groups Jare provided : according to the type of the Contimab and to the option decided upon by the client when he ordered the machine. Ist TYPE : VOLUMETRIC PUMP FEEDING, WITH MANUAL SPEED VARIATOR AND CONSTANT LEVEL TANK. The ordinary rotary pumps, without a speed variator, are TO BE PROSCRIBED, since they overwork the creams. Only a volumetric pump, provided with a variator and connected to a constant level tank, will permit to set the feed to the EXACT requirements of the Contimab. This arrangement is particularly recommended for treating the AVERAGE . types of creams, as long as the pump can be installed within a short distance (a few meters) from the tanks ^ from the Contimab. It insures a remarkable regularity of the humidity content. 2nd TYPE : VOLUMETRIC PUMP FEEDING, WITH REMOTE CONTROL SPEED VARIA-TOR, AND CONSTANT LEVEL TANK.

According to the specifications of the "SENIOR" type Contimab, sent with the order, we provide a cream feeding group with : CHAIN AND DISCS VARIATOR - MOTORS - SERVO-MOTOR - REMOTE CONTROL - END OP RUN CONTACT - POTENTIOMETER and REMOTE READINGS. MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CREAM FEEDING GROUP. One VLF pump, according to type of Contimab.

One mechanical variator (with servo-motor, if required) - r a t i o 3-5 "to 1 - speed 375 "to 1310 r.p.m. - end of run contact (only with servo-motor) - flange coupling. Output : 1500 to 5000 L/H, according to type of pump.

• Tank.capacity : 120 litres. Length of group : 1820 mm.

' ^ Width of group : 46O mm. Reminder : On the Contimab, the cream'deeding inlet is ^ 30/33 or

4 0 / 4 3 , according to type. SEE GENERAL DRAWING N" 93 122, hereunder.

RECIRCULATION OF THE BUTTERMILK

As the advantages of buttermilk recirculation are generally recognized, we should like to draw the attention of our custoniers to this process.

IT CONSISTS OF A REINJECTION OF THE CHILLED BUTTERMILK INTO THE FIRST WORKING CHAMBER. WE CONSIDER THAT THIS PROCEDURE IS BY NO MEANS OBLIGATORY, BUT WE SHOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS :

ADVANTAGES : I _ THE BUTTER GRAINS ARE COOLER ( f r om 36* F to 37'F ) which leads to a

particularly f irm butter ; THIS DOES FACILITATE THE WORKING UNDER VACUUM. n - INCREASE OF THE NON-FAT CONTENT OF THE BUTTER, it varies according to

the fat content of the cream and can reach 0,5 to 0,6 '/. which, under certain legislations, is very interesting from the financial point of view.

i n _ REDUCTION OF THE BUTTERMILK FAT LOSSES UNDER CERTAIN FAVOURABLE CIRCUMSTANCES. The buttermilk quantity to be put into recirculation is about 1/3 to 2/3 of the buttermilk at a temperature of 36* F to 39* F .

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS : " _

A - PLEASE, NOTE THAT IT IS A MATTER OF LOW CAPACITY AND THAT SUCH PLATEf^ EXCHANGERS GENERALLY ARE. AVAILABLE IN ANY DAIRY.

B - OF COURSE, THERE MUST BE A BUTTERMILK PUMP FOR DELIVERY INTO THE ^ ' EXCHANGER CELLS .

c - IN CASE OF RIPENED CREAM THE RECIRCULATION IS VERY DIFFICULT. AS THE CURDLED BUTTERMILK DOES NOT PERCOLATE BETWEEN THE EXCHANGER PLATES.

WE SHALL BE GLAD TO EXAMINE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS ANY PROBLEM CONCERNING THE R E C I R C U L ^ O N OF BUTTERMILK. ' •• v .
