Depuis de nombreuses années Vicky Colombet s’interroge sur la question du paysage en peinture. “Plis et paysage”, titre de la nouvelle exposition à la Galerie Jean Jacques Dutko qui fait référence à Leibniz et Deleuze dans “Différence et Répétition”, a inspiré à Vicky Colombet sur la possibilité de jouer sur notre perception.

Dans ses nouvelles peintures, Vicky Colombet développe sur la toile des micros perceptions qui, par leur accumulation, évoquent un monde naturel. Vicky Colombet interprète la notion que l’absolument simple contient un univers, l’ensemble de ce qui est plié est infini, et ce que l’on perçoit est en perpétuel devenir. Les multi-facettes représentent la réalité avec les plis et replis d’un univers en flux qui, selon Leibnitz est une texture d’événements et pourraient ainsi définir un paysage.

L’historienne d’art Nena Tsouti Schillinger écrit à propos sur la nouvelle série de peintures de Vicky Colombet : “Abstraits à première vue, on pourrait dire que les paysages de Vicky Colombet ne sont pas du tout des paysages, mais plutôt des états d’esprit, une vision de rêve. Cependant un observateur patient sera ré-compensé, car avec le temps, les toiles-paysages de Vicky Colombet s’ouvrent lentement, révélant des formes et des couleurs qui semblent évoquer des systèmes naturels. La peinture a des secrets; un spectateur a des questions. La conversation commence.”

Née à Paris, Vicky Colombet vit et travaille entre Paris et New York. Ses oeuvres font partie de nombreuses impor-tantes collections privées et publiques aux Etats-Unis et en Europe. Beaucoup d’articles de Presse on été publiés sur ses différentes expositions, entre autres sur Art News, Art Forum, Critic’s Picks, Art in America, El Pais …

En 2001, elle a reçu le prix prestigieux de la Fondation Adolph et Esther Gottlieb et la bourse de la Fondation Pollock-Krasner en 2014.

Parmi ses projets en cours, Vicky Colombet travaille sur une sculpture en verre monumentale «a-r-o-s-e» pour un jardin public à la demande de Rubis Mécénat à Paris. Par ailleurs, un documentaire sur son œuvre monumentale réalisée en Espagne, « The glass wall » en Espagne a été filmée par la cinéaste américaine Joan Freeman.

For many years Vicky Colombet has been studying the question of Landscape and painting. “Plis et Paysage” /“Folds and Landscape”, the title for her new exhibition at the Gallery Jean Jacques Dutko, inspired by Leibniz and Deleuze(“Difference and Repetition”), has enticed her to play on our perception.

In her new paintings, the detailed and micro perceptions repeated across the canvas are suggesting a natural world. Vicky Colombet is interpreting the idea that the absolutely simple contains an universe, that what is folded doesn’t end, and that what we see is in a continuous state of becoming. The muti-faces of reality, plis et replis of a flux universe which with Leibniz might appear to be a texture of events, could define a landscape.

The art historian Nena Tsouti-Schillinger wrote about Vicky Colombet new series of paintings: “Abstract to the casual glance, one might even say that perhaps her landscapes are not landscapes at all but are instead states of mind, a state of dreamlike vision. A patient observer however, is rewarded, as with time, Vicky Colombet’s “canvas-landscapes” will slowly open up, revealing forms and colors which seem to evoke natural systems—a painting has secrets; a spectator has questions. The conversation begins.”

Born in Paris, Colombet lives and works between Paris and New York. Vicky Colombet’s work is in important private and public collections in the United States and Europe. Her work has been featured in Art News, Art Forum’s Critics’ Picks, Art in America, El Pais among others.

In 2001 she received a grant from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation and was the recipient of The Pollock-Krasner Foundation last year.

Her upcoming projects include the creation of a large glass sculpture «a-r-o-s-e» for a public park, commissioned by Rubis Mécénat in Paris and a documentary “The Glass Wall” on her monumental glass work in Spain from the filmmaker Joan Freeman now in production
