However, there is June Gloom. With thick clouds hovering over the skies at the beaches, June Gloom could disappoint those expecting beautiful blue skies. On the other hand, similar to Japan, Taiwan enters its wet season around June, and the whole summer is full of rain. However, Dragon Boat (Dwanwu) Festival makes June not all that gloomy. Celebrated on May 5th in the lunar calendar, Dragon Boat Festival falls on June 2nd this year. With many delicious zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) hung in the house, Dragon Boat Festival was always a day I looked forward to as a kid. Taiwanese zongzi usually are wrapped with many tasty fillings such as eggs, squid, peanuts, and chestnuts, I love it! In the wet season, keep your closet dry and keep an eye out for mold.
