Adivasi activists, includingwomen, from Jainoor inKumram Bheem Asifabaddistrict on Wednesday sub-mitted representations tomandal parishad develop-ment offi��cer (MPDO) BanothDatha Ram and tahsildar Ve-dama Bhujang Rao urgingLambada offi��cials and staff��not to come to their villageon offi��cial duty.

The activists urged Mr.Datha Ram, himself a Lam-bada, and some 15 other con-tract employees working inthe Mahatma Gandhi Nation-al Rural Employment Gua-rantee Scheme and villagerevenue offi��cers to honourthe resolution passed intheir gram sabha and not to

visit their village on duty.The representations were

a copy of the gram sabha re-solution under Article 244(1), V Schedule, para 13 (C)and Administrative rule 1935which purportedly give the

power of self rule to aborigi-nal tribes in their villages.The aboriginal people hadresolved not to let Lambadaemployees working in 29 de-partments come to theirvillage.

Kumra Shankar, Jainoordivisional president of theAdivasi Hakkula Porata Sa-mithi, also known as TudumDebba, told newsmen thatthe ethnic people had nofaith in offi��cials and em-ployees belonging to Lamba-da community.

“We are being discrimi-nated against in MGNREGSworks,” he charged. Jainoorpolice, however, detainedMr. Shankar for some time.As a result the group couldnot reach the Rasimetta Ash-ram High School locatedabout 7 km away.

The activists had plannedto submit the same represen-tation to the authorities inthe school urging them tosend away Lambada teach-ers.
