A NEW CONCEPT FOR METERING DESIGN The KYE24 is a dry type combined current and voltage transformer, assembling 3 single phase units into a 3 phase metering set. Each unit is hot vacuum cast in an insulating resin, to achieve a discharge free high voltage insulation. The surface of the unit is fully coated with zinc, hot sprayed after casting. This metal layer on the body provides a grounded surface, and a total control of the electrical field inside the casting. It guarantees a first class withstand on heavily polluted areas. The primary connections are achieved with Elastimold or equivalent plug to directly connect the high voltage cables. Once the cables are connected, the unit is fully shielded, there is no live part in open air. The secondary terminals of each single phase unit are brought into an IP65 marshalling box on top of the set. Two cable glands are provided as a standard, but any specific alternative can be quoted, such as one large cable conduit, a multi-contact plug, etc..., to facilitate the connection to the metering equipment. The frame supporting the unit is made of steel, hot dip galvanized. An insulated copper bar is provided for the electrical grounding. ADVANTAGES The casting process and the resin employed allow reduced outlines and weight, together with an excellent dielectric strength. The metal layer is completely covering the unit and provides a safe grounded surface, with no electrical stress. The high voltage plugs offer a very easy and quick connection to the power lines. Outage duration is reduced to the minimum during installation or change. It can be mounted indoor or outdoor, in any position. In case of any incident on one phase, the damaged element can easily be separated from the sound elements and changed to a new one. Two thirds of module value are saved, as the healthy elements are not to be thrown away with the damaged one. It is compact and rugged, and requires no maintenance.

INSTALLATION Basically designed to be directly connected to medium voltage cables, the KYE24 can be installed in any location indoor or outdoor. As an oil-free unit (dry type insulation), there is no safety restriction for its installation inside public buildings. It can be fixed in any position on the floor or on a wall, to comply with the specific requirement of each installation. Refer to the general outlines drawings for different possible connection and junction box location. See the attached drawings showing basic examples of connection (not detailing additional equipment such as load-break switch, surge arresters, fuses cut-out, etc... that will have to be added):

FUNCTION The KYE24 provides low tension current and voltage signals, to operate tariff meters for customer metering. Additional relaying cores can be included, so the module can also operate protection relays, in addition with the usual metering equipment. STANDARDS AND TESTS The units are manufactured according to the required standard: Canadian, American, Australian, International, etc... They can also be designed according to any Customer's or Power Companies specification. All the routine tests required by the relevant standard are performed on each unit. The results are noted in the Routine Test Report given upon delivery. The complete type tests program has been passed when qualifying the KYE24, the reports are available upon request.

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS UNPACKING After opening the box, unscrew the four screws fixing the unit on the pallet. Lift the unit with ropes passed through the 31 mm dia lifting lugs. Securely fix the unit on the site structure. LOW VOLTAGE CONNECTIONS All secondary terminals are located in the marshalling box on top of the KYE24:

• Current transformers terminals • Voltage transformers terminals • Grounding terminal.

See attached drawing for details of connections. Bring the low voltage cables from the meters into the box through the cable glands provided, and proceed to the relevant connections. Do not forget to connect one terminal of each CT and VT secondary winding to ground. HIGH VOLTAGE CONNECTION The H.V. connecting cones are protected during transport by a steel cover. Take the cover of by unscrewing the four M8 screws located on each side of the KYE24. The cones provided can be, for example: Loadbreak:

Deadbreak: 400 Series Euromold 400A plug-in type for elbow connector 400A. 400 Series Euromold 400A M16 screwed type for T connector. 600 Series Euromold 800A M16 screwed type for T connector. 600 Series Euromold 800A 5/8” US thread screwed type for T connector.

Refer to your order for proper identification. For proper cable preparation and connection, please refer to the instructions supplied with the relevant connectors. Do not forget to connect the grounding connection of each cable screen. On the KYE24, a grounding bar is provided for the cables, and located below the cones with two sets of 3 holes of 10mm dia. The general ground connection of the unit is made with one of the 14 mm dia holes located on each side.
