    Upgrade Information

    PPuurrppoossee ooff tthhiiss gguuiiddee

The purpose of this guide is to provide Installation Procedures for the Update of OmegaPS R14.1.00 to OmegaPS R14.2.00.

    NNootteess aabboouutt tthhiiss gguuiiddee

This guide will refer to drive as the drive where your ORACLE® RDBMS software has been installed.

Throughout this guide you will see this symbol () used to denote a Single-Click of the left Mouse button.

    UUppddaattee PPrreerreeqquuiissiitteess

    1. Version R14.1.00 -- These procedures are designed to Update those sites that are currently running OmegaPS R14.1.00, OmegaPS R14.1.01, OmegaPS R14.1.02 or OmegaPS R14.1.03.

If you unclear as to the current release number of your OmegaPS software, simply log into OOmmeeggaaPPSS and the \Help\About menu-bar items on any screen and look here to the Release field:

    Date: 05-Nov-2004 15:19 Release: R14.1.00

The Update has been designed so that it will correctly install to sites that are at R14.1.00, R14.1.01, R14.1.02 or R14.1.03. It should be noted that the upgrade to RR1144..22..0000 involves installing the interim version R14.1.04.

Oracle Database Version Reminder OmegaPS Release 14 (and above) is only supported on Oracle database version 8.1.7 and Oracle 9.2.0.1.

    3. SQL*Plus® -- During this Upgrade, the system will use Oracles SQL*Plus® program.

Before you begin, ensure that you can execute each SQL*Plus available on the machine you are going to use to do the Upgrade (Example: PLUS80W.exe, SQLPLUSW).

Log on (to SQL> prompt) and off as User O2B, using the Host String for the Oracle Instance(s) you intend to Upgrade.

    4. Client/Server Environment - All of the Upgrade procedures should be run from a System

    Administrators Client Workstation.

When ever possible, it is recommended that this Update be run on the same machine the R14 Installation / Upgrade was run on.

For additional information in regard to setting up a System Administrators Client Workstation, please refer to the R14P0.00 Full Installation Guide

    Page 2

    5. Oracle Import The Upgrade process may involve the system using the Oracle Import Utility.

InstallShield will automatically check to be sure you are using Oracle8. t will presume that you have the Oracle Import Utility executable (IMP.exe) installed on the System Administrators Workstation you are going to run the Upgrade from.

Before you begin, ensure that these utilities are available on the machine you are going to use to do the Upgrade. In a Standalone environment, these tools are installed when the Typical Installation choice is selected during the Oracle RDBMS software installation.

In a Client/Server environment, these Oracle Database Utilities (i.e., Client Database Tools) would have to have been installed separately.

The Database Utilities (i.e., Client Database Tools) should be maintained at the same Oracle version as your Server (RDBMS) software it is accessing.

    6. Individual Performing Upgrade - The individual performing the OmegaPS Upgrade should be familiar

with the Server and Client Operating System(s) (i.e. WindowsNT, Windows98, Windows2000 Professional)

For example, this person should know the commands for deleting and copying files, and understand the concepts of the search path, folders/directories, and path names. This individual should also have an understanding of the fundamentals of Microsoft Windows, such as Program Manager, Explorer/File Manager and the elements of an application window

    Documentation

    Before You Begin

We strongly recommend that you read through this Guide, before you begin any phase of this installation.

Reading in advance will afford you the opportunity to verify any unknown information before you begin, and help familiarize you with the questions you will be required to address.

Before you start working with the OmegaPS Upgrade, you will need to accomplish a few preliminary tasks (described below).

OORRAACCLLEE®® EExxppoorrtt Before you begin this Upgrade you should first perform a Full ORACLE® Export of the OmegaPS Database as the owner of the database (O2B is the default, change to reflect your installation where applicable), to create a backup of your existing R14.1.00 , R14.1.01, R14.1.02 or R14.1.03 database. Using your ORACLE® Export Tool, perform a Full Export of the User, O2B. Export Example-- Using your Windows Explorer, locate your system's applicable Export Executable file.

on the Export Executable's record-line and answer with the following:

    Question Answer

    USER O2B PASSWORD O2B Export File: EXPORT.DMP> O2BEXP.DMP (any-filename .DMP) (2) U(sers) or (3) T(ables):(2) U> U Export Grants (yes/no) yes> yes Export Table Data (yes/no) yes> yes Compress Extents (yes/no) yes> yes

Ensure that the Export File is safely stored someplace other than your \OmegaPS folder.

    Page 4

OOmmeeggaaPPSS FFoollddeerr BBaacckkuupp Your next task is to create a backup of your existing \OmegaPS folder and it's sub-directories.

In the unlikely event of a problem during the Update, this folder will be available to easily restore your folder structure to where it as before you began the Update.

This Update was designed to simply add additional files to your existing \OmegaPS folders, and make the required modifications to the database.

If space permits, (using your Windows Explorer) simply copy the \OmgeaPS folder to another , and rename it \OmegaPS_R14.1.00 (R14.1.01, R14.1.02 or R14.1.03) as required.

After this Update is complete, and you determine it was successful, you can erase this backup folder.

PPeennnnaanntt RReeggiissttrryy EEnnttrryy BBaacckkuupp Your next task is to create a backup (Export) of your existing Pennant Information Services Limited Registry Entry.

System Administrators Workstation and Database Schema Upgrade Before you begin, determine the where your OmegaPS software is installed.

Multi-Machine Environment Remember - it is presumed that you are about to accomplish this portion of this Update from your System Administrators Workstation machine (this is a machine which has the Import Oracle Database Tool executable installed on it). Our goal is to update the System Administrators Workstation and your OmegaPS Database (on your Server) first, and then we will address the update of any Client Machines.

TThhee RR1144..22..0000..EEXXEE ffiillee The R14.2.00.EXE file is used to start the InstallShield Wizard (TM), which will assist with the OmegaPS Update process.

WWhheerree ttoo rruunn tthhee RR1144..22..0000..EEXXEE ffiillee??

Create a Temporary folder (on your hard-drive) named OmegaPS-RR1144..22..0000.

Depending on the type of environment you are setting up, after installing the \OmegaPS\Documentation folder, you may wish to review this folder and delete a few documents. Client Workstations - A regular User would have no need for the System Administrators Guide or the various Update, Full and 32-Bit Install Guides. After the Upgrade, you may wish to delete these documents and just leave the Users Reference Guide and the Users (1388-2B) Reports Guide (where applicable) on the regular Users Client machines.

EEnnaabbllee tthhee AAdddd--oonn PPrroodduucctt Before the Add-on Product can be used it must be enabled. This is done by logging into OmegaPS as the database owner (O2B), accessing Security and ensuring that the correct Security Preference for the Add-on Product is set to Y.

Progress Management MUST be configured before its Security Preference is set to Y See the Progress Management User Guide for further details.

See the Available Add-on Products List, Security Entry (WHAT) value, for each Add-on. An example of the Security Preference for AGERD is shown below (showing the product is enabled).

All Add-on Products require a valid Access Key Number before than can be accessed.

Install New Access Key Number OObbttaaiinn AAcccceessss KKeeyy

Access Key numbers are required for ALL applications and Add-on Products. The Upgrade process will make use of your existing Access Key Numbers, however if you have installed an Application or Add-on Product that does not have an existing Access Key Number, then the following process will need to be carried out.

After you have completed the Upgrade Installation Process you will be required to introduce to the system a new Access Key Number for each additional application before you will be able to use the application. You will need to call Pennant Information Services to obtain the applicable Access Key Number for your licensed application(s) (i.e., 1388-2B, 00-60 Issue 1, 00-60 Issue 2, 00-60 Issue 3 and/or 00-60 Issue 4), if you have not yet obtained your Key Codes, contact:

United States Pennant Information Services Inc +1 714-524-5000

Canada Pennant Information Services Inc +1 613-745-3811

AAbboouutt AAcccceessss KKeeyy NNuummbbeerr A Access Key Number is required to activate each application in the OmegaPS System. Five different CORE product Keys are available:

one for the MIL-STD-1388-2B module one for the DEF-STD-0060 Issue 1 module one for the DEF-STD-0060 Issue 2 module one for the DEF-STD-0060 Issue 3 module one for the DEF-STD-0060 Issue 4 module

If you are running multiple instances of ORACLE, you must enter the Key(s) for EACH instance of ORACLE you are running OmegaPS (as the O2B User).

Remember - Access Key Numbers are also required for each Add-On Product.

AAppppllyy AAcccceessss KKeeyy NNuummbbeerr In order to make the installation of the Access Key Numbers as easy as possible, Pennant will supply each user site with a tailor made script that has been pre-configured with all of their keys. In most circumstances, this script will be e-mailed to your designated OmegaPS Contact. To update your Access Key Number, your System Administrator will only have to execute this script. The first step is to COPY the script to the \OmegaPS\DBA folder.

Your SQL*Plus desktop-icon Start in variable should be set to C:\OmegaPS\DBA (assuming your \OmegaPS\DBA folder is on your C: drive).

The next step is to Log onto SQL*Plus (as User O2B), and at the SQL prompt, issue the following SQL Command: SQL>start UPD_KEYS In the unlikely event that the supplied script fails to update your Access Key Numbers successfully each individual key can be set by following the process for a Manual Update of Access Key Number.

Your SQL*Plus desktop-icon Start in variable should be set to C:\OmegaPS\DBA (assuming your \OmegaPS\DBA folder is on your C: drive). This is where it needs to be to run the UPD_KEY.SQL script.

Log onto SQL*Plus (as User O2B). At the SQL prompt you will issue the following SQL Command: SQL>start UPD_KEY You will be prompted for two values:

    Application 1388-2B (or 00-60, 00-60/2, 00-60/3, 00-60/4,depending on the application)

Key Number ************** (enter the number you obtained from Pennant)

Do not offset application entry with quotes. If you are installing multiple OmegaPS modules (i.e., 1388-2B and 00-60, 00-60/2, 00-60/3, and 00-60/4), you will need to run this script for each module.

After this script has run, you should be in a position to log onto OmegaPS.
