Questo parametro serve pervalutare la capacità dellamattonella di sopportarecarichi statici e dinamiciquando è posta in esercizio.La norma considera lapiastrella come una trave,posta su due rulli distanti traloro, mentre al centro vieneapplicata una forza tramiteun terzo rullo.Il carico di rottura è il pesoche viene supportato primadella rottura della mattonella.Il carico di rottura effettivodella mattonella in opera ènotevolmente superiore aq u e l l o m i s u r a t o i nlaboratorio.

Il test misura il caricosopportabile dalle piastrelleceramiche poste su tre puntiravvicinati “a triangoloequilatero”. La forza vieneapplicata tramite una sfera sulpunto centrale di ogni pezzo,e la misura della breakingstrenght serve al progettistaper valutare l’idoneità dellepiastrelle in esercizio asopportare carichi statici edinamici.Nella realtà di cantiere il caricodi rottura effettivo dellepiastrelle posate è assaisuperiore a quello misuratodal test dove le piastrelle sonosvincolate dal piano di posa.

Resistenza al gelo

ISO 10545-12

I materiali ceramici posati inesterno subiscono danneg-giamenti dovuti al gelo sepossiedono una certa poro-sità. Quando l'acqua even-tualmente assorbita ghiaccia,aumenta il proprio volumed e t e r m i n a n d o f o r t isollecitazioni meccanicheinterne che possono tradursiin distacchi di materiale sullasuperficie.Le mattonelle Cotto d’Estesono ingelive quando, in virtùdella porosità quasi nulla,superano sempre il test ISO1045-12 che prevede 100 cicligelo/disgelo tra -5°C e +5°Csenza subire nessun danno.

Resistenzaall'attacco chimico

Il metodo determina la resistenzachimica di piastrelle sia smaltate (GL)che Non smaltate (UGL), utilizzandoacidi (cloridrico, citrico, lattico) e basi(idrossido di potassio) a bassa (L) ead alta (H) concentrazione. La classi-ficazione viene effettuata come segue:Prodotti smaltati (GL):GLA, GHA: Resistente;GLB, GHB: Modifica dell’aspettodella superficie; GLC, GHC:Perdita parziale o completa dellasuperficie originale.Prodotti non smaltati (UGL):ULA, UHA: Resistente;ULB, UHB: Modifica dell’aspettodella superficie; ULC, UHC: Perditaparziale o completa della superficieoriginale.

The method aims tomeasure the tiles' suitabilityfor laying in locationswhere people walk barefoot(e.g. edges of swimming-pools, showers, etc.). The surface isgradually tilted and theangle of tilt at which theoperator starts to slipprovides the tiles' rating, asshown in the table below.

Breaking load

ISO 10545-4

This parameter is used toassess the ceramic tile'scapacity to withstand staticand dynamic loads afterlaying. The standardconsiders the tile as a beam,placed on two rollers somedistance apart, while a thirdroller applies a force to itscentre.The breaking strength is theweight the tile withstandsbefore breaking. The actualbreaking strength of a tileafter laying is considerablyhigher than the valuemeasured in the laboratory.

The test measures the load theceramic t i le is able towithstand when placed onthree points arranged "in anequilateral triangle".
