Introduction
Les pathologies intestinales sont aujourd'hui parmi les problèmes de santé les plus communs: syndrome de
l'intestin irritable (anciennement appelé colopathie fonctionnelle ou côlon irritable), constipation diarrhée ou
selles semi-liquides, maladie de Crohn, rectocolite hémorragique, hémorroïdes, ulcères, diverticulite,
fissures anales, pour n’en mentionner que quelques-unes.
Nous devons cette situation à une alimentation déséquilibrée, dévitalisée car le plus souvent cuite et recuite,
dans laquelle il n'y a plus d'enzymes, de vitamines, plus de fibres, plus de chlorophylle,..Sans parler de
l’abondance d’additifs alimentaires plus ou moins dangereux, et la prise intensive et quasi-généralisée de
médicaments et autres drogues, prescrites légalement ou libres d’achat, qui acidifient l’organisme, détruisent
le microbiote la flore intestinale, appauvrissent en nutriments, irritent et enflamment les parois intestinales.
Il est clair que l’idéal est d’agir à la base du problème et de modifier d’abord nos habitudes alimentaires et
notre hygiène de vie, c'est le premier acte que chacun se doit de comprendre et doit entreprendre
personnellement.

Ne pas confondre psyllium noir et psyllium blond
La nature met à notre disposition de nombreuses plantes, utilisées depuis la nuit des temps, le psyllium
blond, ou plantain des Indes, Plantago ovata Forssk, en fait partie.
Originaire de l’Inde et du Pakistan, où il pousse naturellement, le psyllium blond est connu pour ses
propriétés depuis des millénaires. Dans ces pays, on l’appelle Ispaghul ou encore Isabgol.
Le psyllium blond est resté longtemps inconnu chez nous, probablement parce que son petit frère français, le
psyllium noir ou plantain de Provence (Plantago Psyllium), ne possède pas d’effet thérapeutique, et peut
même irriter la muqueuse intestinale.
Le psyllium noir n'a aucun intérêt. Son tégument est beaucoup moins mucilagineux que celui du psyllium
blond, et en plus, il est vendu en graine entière, ces deux plantes psyllium noir et psyllium blond, ne peuvent
être confondues, ce que l'on appelle couramment du psyllium, et qui est très efficace, c'est le psyllium blond
Plantago ovata, et non le psyllium noir, dont le nom latin est pourtant Plantago psyllium
Contrairement à d'autres végétaux comme le séné et la bourdaine, le psyllium blond n'a aucun effet irritant
ni excitant sur la muqueuse intestinale, au contraire, il est un véritable lubrifiant des intestins.
Dans le psyllium blond que vous utilisez, il n’est question que de l’utilisation du tégument (l’enveloppe) de
la graine de psyllium blond pur à 100%, et non de la graine entière. Le tégument constitue la partie active de
la graine, dont il est séparé par mouture, vannage et tamisage.
C’est donc de tégument seul que doit être composé tout produit appelé psyllium et vendu où que ce soit.
Qu'en-est-il du psyllium prescrit et vendu en pharmacie ?
Beaucoup de préparations pharmaceutiques à base de psyllium contiennent d’importantes quantités
d’excipients, édulcorants et adjuvants des plus improbables - poudre de riz, stéarate de magnésium,
cellulose, aspartame, saccharose, sorbitol, paraffine, cyclamate…
Par exemple, le Spagulax, ou encore le metamucil, médicaments biens connus, souvent prescrits par les
médecins et/ou gastroentérologues, contient pour l'un plus de 38% et pour l'autre plus de 50% de saccharose.
Le saccharose est un excipient/additif à fuir dans les maladies intestinales et/ou toute personne soucieuse de
sa santé.
D'autres médicaments contenant du psyllium sont vendus en pharmacie, beaucoup contiennent des produits
chimiques tels que: acide citrique anhydre, bicarbonate de sodium, saccharine sodique (E954), vanilline,
maltol, héliotropine, acétaldéhyde, trans-héxénol, cis-héxénol, macrogol, esters des acides acétique,
butyrique et propionique, esters des alcools éthylique, butylique, iso-butylique et iso-amylique,
maltodextrine, gomme arabique, Gomme arabique (E414), Fer oxyde (E172) jaune, Fer oxyde (E172) noir,
Fer oxyde (E172) rouge,...
Nul besoin de tant d'excipients délétères lorsque l'on souhaite réellement profiter des bienfaits d'une plante
telle que le psyllium, à moins que l'on ne souhaite freiner son évolution vers la santé et/ou rechercher
d'autres symptômes. Chacun a le libre arbitre, choisit et décide s'il tient à s’y intéresser, à prendre son corps
pour une poubelle ou le respecter. Il est de nos jours où les sociétés pharmaceutiques se mènent une lutte
sans merci et se concurrencent sans commune mesure, bien loin des objectifs et de la philosophie de la santé
des malades de vérifier la composition avant d'acheter que ce soit en pharmacie, sur internet ou en magasin
biologique.

Origine du mot "psyllium"
Le mot psyllium vient du grec psyllos qui signifie puce. Il est ainsi appelé parce que ses graines sont
minuscules et très légères: 1 000 graines pèsent à peine 2 grammes
Qu’est-ce que le mucilage ?
Simplement la fibre végétale la plus efficace. C’est une fibre très hydrophile qui gonfle au contact de l’eau
et forme une masse gélatineuse très douce qui lubrifie les parois intestinales et agit comme une éponge,
s’imprégnant des déchets qu’il trouve sur son passage, y compris les métaux lourds.
Le mucilage du tégument de psyllium contient 70% de fibres solubles et 30% de fibres insolubles. Les
mucilages végétaux ont des propriétés épaississantes, adhésives et adoucissantes.
Le psyllium est avant tout un régulateur de la fonction intestinale

Nous allons nous intéresser à quelques-unes d'entre eux
Constipation, diarrhée et/ou selles semi-liquides
Il peut paraître surprenant qu'une plante soit à la fois un remède à la constipation et aux selles liquides ou
semi-liquides. C'est pourtant la réalité.
En fait, quel que soit le point de départ, que ce soit diarrhée, selles semi-liquides ou constipation, le psyllium
redonne aux selles une consistance optimale, molle et malléable, et restaure un fonctionnement normal du
côlon.
Bien qu'étant une plante, le psyllium n'est pas un aliment, il n'est pas assimilé par le sang dans l'organisme.
Son action est purement "mécanique", il structure et moule les selles, il n'apporte aucun nutriment.

Le tégument du psyllium blond est également employé avec succès dans les cas de dysenterie, souvent
associée de selles fréquentes et aqueuses mêlées de sang, de mucus, de glaires, et accompagnée de fortes
crampes abdominales.
Maladies inflammatoires de l'intestin
Rectocolite hémorragique (colite ulcéreuse), maladie de Crohn, gastro-entérite, diverticulite, etc. Dans toutes
les maladies inflammatoires de l'intestin, aiguës ou chroniques, le psyllium est un excellent émollient et anti-
diarrhéique dont la prise est particulièrement indiquée, voir les contre-indications
La réhydratation minérale de personne souffrant de maladie diarrhéique sera plus rapide avec la prise de
psyllium corrélé à des jus de légumes verts filtrés et de jus de fruits doux filtrés, en raison de l'apport en de
multiples minéraux que présentent ces jus
Il est reconnu aujourd’hui qu’une sous-consommation de légumes, de fruits, de fibres, conduisent au
développement de ces maladies, les patients très mal conseillés se verront suivre un régime sans résidus,
parfois sur plusieurs semaines, voire mois, régime dénués des apports essentiels à leur santé, ne comportant
plus de fibres pour nettoyer leurs parois intestinales où sont collés et agglutinés de grandes quantités de
déchets, toxines, biofilms microbiens, s’épaississant au fur et à mesure des consommations d’aliments
défavorables.
Infections fongiques (mycoses) et candidoses
Les proliférations de champignons sont légion chez les personnes souffrant de maladies inflammatoires
intestinales. Le tégument de psyllium blond est de plus en plus utilisé aujourd'hui dans les cas d'infections
fongiques chroniques.
L'association d'un probiotique dénué d’excipients à la prise de psyllium a encore plus d’effet sur la qualité
de vie des malades que chacun des suppléments pris isolément. Associés, tous deux réduisent l'inflammation
de l'intestin. Les probiotiques repeuplent les intestins de bactéries amies, tandis que le psyllium a un effet
prébiotique, agissant comme un bon engrais sur les probiotiques. Cependant contrairement à d’autres
prébiotiques naturels, le psyllium ne comporte aucun élément nutritif. La plupart des probiotiques vendus
sur le marché des médicaments contiennent des excipients totalement défavorable à la santé intestinale et
permettant contrairement aux allégations de vente marketing et arguments publicitaires d’entretenir en sous-
plan la prolifération microbienne. Les excipients tels que maltodextrine, saccharose, steratate de magnesium
etc doivent impérativement être évités
Le psyllium est utile pour empêcher l'absorption par l'organisme des déchets métaboliques des levures
fongiques qui sont donc des champignons.
Pour survivre à l'intérieur du côlon, les levures Candida produisent des toxines qui provoquent diverses
réactions et symptômes, le psyllium absorbe ces toxines, apaise les tissus enflammés et promeut le
développement de bactéries amies du côlon.
Les patients atteints de candidose doivent absolument éviter la constipation ! Toutes matières stationnant
trop longtemps dans le côlon constituent un terrain de prédilection pour le développement de Candida.
Il est important de prendre beaucoup de fibre, préférentiellement et essentiellement sous forme de légumes
et de fruits, et le psyllium en tant que supplément contribue à réduire le temps de transit.

Syndrome de l'intestin irritable (colopathie fonctionnelle, côlon irritable)
Les personnes souffrant de syndrome de l'intestin irritable peuvent avoir de la constipation et/ou des
diarrhées en alternance.
Des recherches cliniques ont établi que les doses optimales se situaient entre 20 g et 30 g de psyllium par
jour. Néanmoins chacun doit adapter en fonction de ses propres besoins, tout en veillant à ne pas dépasser
les dosages, et en respectant au préalable les règles hygiénodiététiques de base qui sont abordées en fin
d'article
Hémorroïdes
Une étude en double aveugle a montré que le tégument de psyllium blond, pris trois fois par jour (3 x 7 g)
réduit la douleur et les saignements associés aux hémorroïdes. (Moesgaard F, Nielsen ML, Hansen JB,
Knudsen JT. High-fiber diet reduces bleeding and pain in patients with hemorrhoids. Dis Colon Rectum
1982;25:454–6).
Cancer du côlon
Des études ont démontré l'utilisation possible du psyllium blond pour inhiber le cancer du côlon.
Réduction du taux de cholestérol
Le Psyllium réduit le taux global de cholestérol sanguin de 8.9%, et le taux de cholestérol LDL de 13%
Il réduit également le taux de glucose global et postprandial de 11% et de 19.2% après 8 semaines de cure de
psyllium blond (5,1 g par jour). Résultats obtenus dans le suivi de 34 hommes souffrant de diabète de type 2.
(Pubmed - Anderson 1999).
Réduction du taux de glucose - Diabète
En étudiant les effets du psyllium sur des patients atteints de diabète de type 2, des chercheurs ont constaté
qu’il contribuait non seulement à normaliser le taux de lipides dans le sang, mais aussi à faire baisser la
glycémie, après 8 semaines de cure de psyllium blond à raison de 5,1 g par jour. (Pubmed - Anderson 1999).
En modifiant la structure, la texture et la viscosité des aliments dans l’intestin, il diminue l’index glycémique
du repas.
Le psyllium engendre également un sentiment de satiété qui peut contribuer à réduire la prise alimentaire et
par conséquent à contrôler le poids.
Comme le souligne l’auteur d’une synthèse d'études, publiée en 2003, les enfants et les adolescents obèses et
diabétiques pourraient bénéficier d’une diète enrichie en psyllium (Moreno LA, Tresaco B, et al. Psyllium
fibre and the metabolic control of obese children and adolescents. J Physiol Biochem. 2003 Sep;59(3):235-

Posologie:
Voie orale Habituellement, la posologie est de 3 cuillères à café, cette posologie de 3 cuillères à café peut être trop forte
ou insuffisante pour telle ou telle personne.
Commencez tout simplement avec de petites doses et augmentez, jusqu'à trouver votre prise optimale
personnelle, n'en abusez pas, privilégiez avant tout une alimentation plus riche en fibre, en fibres douces
lorsque vos intestins sont en inflammation et irrités.
Avalez le psyllium avec une quantité suffisante d'eau après chaque cuillerée, un grand verre d'eau, pas un
petit verre.
Pour tirer le meilleur parti des effets bénéfiques du psyllium, il est préférable de le consommer à l'heure des
repas, mélangé aux aliments, plutôt que de le prendre en dehors des repas.
Eviter l'absorption en position allongée (voir contre-indications et conseils).
Contre-indications et Conseils
Contre-indications: Alitement ou personne n'ayant pas d'activité physique
Hydratation insuffisante ou déshydratation
Syndrome occlusif
Affection sténosante du tube digestif
Syndrome douloureux abdominal de cause indéterminée
Fécalome
- Tout obstacle situé sur l’intestin va s’opposer à un transit normal des matières et se traduire par une
constipation alternant parfois avec une diarrhée paradoxale.
La prescription de laxatifs, quels qu’ils soient, est toujours contre-indiquée à cause du risque de rétention en
amont de l’obstacle avec occlusion intestinale.
Le traitement est la levée de l’obstacle, en prenant les mesures qui s'imposent avant d'avoir recours aux
laxatifs, en premier lieu le patient se doit d'agir sur ses règles hygiéno-diététiques de base:
Alimentation saine et adaptée, notamment contenant assez de fibres, la plupart des patients doivent
impérativement réviser leur alimentation.
La seconde règle indispensable est de boire en quantité suffisante, à raison d'un minimum de 1,5
litres d'eau par jour, souvent bien plus est nécessaire !
Troisièmement, faire de l'exercice tous les jours, une activité physique (marche ou autre) au
quotidien est essentielle.
Le patient doit également travailler sur sa relaxation notamment respiratoire et abdominale.
Ne pas avaler toutes sortes de médicaments en s'étonnant qu'ils ne fonctionnent pas lorsque ces
principes de base n'ont pas été respectés par et pour soi-même.
- Le psyllium ne doit jamais être absorbé en position allongée ni à sec. Il existe un risque de survenue de

bézoards qui résultent d'une accumulation de substances végétales fibreuses, résidus d'agrumes ou d'autres
végétaux à fibres. La présence de bézoards est due en premier lieu à un régime déséquilibré ou encore à des
troubles de l'évacuation gastrique: troubles moteurs ou rétrécissements organiques (cancers, certaines
gastrectomies), nécessitant le plus souvent une endoscopie.
- Une utilisation prolongée est déconseillée.
!! Rappel: Le traitement pour la constipation ne doit être qu'un supplément au traitement
hygiénodiététique !!
-> Enrichissement de l'alimentation en fibres végétales et en boissons (hydratation correcte et suffisante)
-> Activité physique et si nécessaire, rééducation du périnée et plancher pelvien, respiratoire et abdominale
La consommation de toute sorte de laxatifs doit être exceptionnelle, les laxatifs entravent le fonctionnement
normal du réflexe d'exonération, une rééducation devra souvent avoir lieu en cas de prises répétées de
laxatifs.
