meetings with DRDO scientists in getting research funded projects. DEBEL and Texas

Topic – “Development and Performance Analysis of A High Speed Internal Grinding

Machine with Granite Epoxy Composite Base”.

Project Sponsored by AICTE, New Delhi under RPS and funded 9.5 lakhs for the research.

This research work focuses on demonstrating granite epoxy as an alternate structural

material in place of cast iron for precision machine tools. We have developed a granite

epoxy base with optimized composition for the existing Internal Grinding Machine Zetto-

30, one of the products of M/s. Acumac Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and build the

machine with a high frequency spindle drive, with a wheel speed of around 45 m/sec

(60,000 rev/min).

Achieved very good results on the newly developed machine.

The machine is installed in the Research Centre, BIET, Davangere.

Technology Implementation in Industry:

M/s Acumac Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore has plans to regularize the production of

this Grinding Machine with Granite Epoxy Base.

M/s UCAM Industries, Bangalore has developed machine base for cylindrical grinding

machine with this composite material
