assignment
design a pavilion with the rythm of open- and closed
The pavilion I wanted to design had to be one covered by plants so that only curious people would go and see what is going on behind the concrete walls between those plants. It had to be low rise and horizontal. The shapes were created by dividing a square in polygons. By shifting them on the X and Y axis I created indoor and outdoor spaces. You can see through. It has a closed characted but once inside there’s an open spirit.

assignment
residential unit on the roof of surrounding apartment buildings
Housing is a problem in big cities, therefore we had the assignment to design a housing unit placed on top of big buildings. As an inspiration I used Mondriaan with it squares and coloures. Polygons were a base for further exploration to draw a housing situation. Teachers wanted us to work with clean white materials but for my personal development I choose to add some colour into a clean interior.

assignment
introduction to the basic functions of a home
The intention was to design a living sculpture to present a hou-sing situation on a fair. Because every design always go upward, I wanted to design levels and use the surface. For me it was an exercise to explore how this works. Learn the necesarry distances needed for all functions. I wanted to show this can be an interesting way to design this living sculpture.

assignment
design of a concept store with one apartment
Retail design for a fashion brand with a new strategy. Important aspect for my design was the interpretation of their new strategy.I used art installations from Baptiste Debombourg to work out my concept. I wanted to use mirrors to enlarge the experience of the artwork. The architectural promenade of the new extension of the dwelling has a green facade. On the top floor will be an apartment for the owners.

artist in residence
Large building, industrial, 3 floors, light, artist in residence. I wan-ted to be the artist who designed the residence. I wanted to feel the atmosphere of an artist-in-residence. Inspired by aspects of brutalism I dew a shape that was in conflict with the grid of this building.A vertical promenade. Contact with the top floors.
