Chers Tous,

Bienvenue à notre premier bulletin d'information de l'année scolaire 2013-2014! Comme d'habitude, le début de l'année scolaire a été très chargé et dynamique. L'école MAT/ P a continué à grandir et nous avons maintenant un total de 1226 élèves (262 en maternelle et 964 en primaire). Nous célé-brons notre 7ème année de l'EEB4 et enfin, après plusieurs années de croissance, nous constatons que l'école MAT / P devient de plus en plus stable (alors que l'école secondaire continue encore à grandir). En septembre, 20 nouveaux membres du corps enseignant ont rejoint notre équipe MAT / P. Cette année, nous avons eu l'honneur d'accueillir les croates dans le système scolaire européen avec le droit de l'enseignement de leur langue maternelle. La nouvelle section roumaine a été inaugurée en novembre. Pendant les mois d'octobre et novembre, nous nous sommes concentrés sur les arts, la créativité, l'exploration et travailler ensemble. La semaine d'art s'est terminée avec l'ouverture de l'Exposition d'Art et la présentation des œuvres des enfants. Le programme officiel de MAT/P a été enrichi par des activités culturelles, des excursions, des célébrations et des projets. Nous espérons que vous apprécierez la lecture de certains de ces moments de notre premier semestre. Je profite de l'occasion pour remercier tous les membres du personnel pour leur dé-vouement et leur travail de qualité. Je remercie tous les intervenants pour leur collabo-ration positive.

Dear all,

Welcome to our first Newsletter of this school year 2013-2014 ! As usual, the start of the school year has been very busy, dynamic and colourful. The N/P school has continued to grow and we now have a total of 1226 pupils (262 in Nursery and 964 in primary). We celebrate our 7th year in EEB4 and finally after several years of continuous growth we can see that the N/P school is becoming more stable (while the Secondary school continues to expand further). In Sep-tember, 20 new teaching staff members joined our N/P team. This year we had the honour to welcome Croatians to the European school system with entitlement

to their mother tongue tuition. The newly created Romanian language section was inaugurated in No-vember. During the months of October and November, we focused on ARTS, creativity, exploration and working together. Art week finished with the opening of the Art Exhibition and presentation of pieces of children’s work. The N/P formal curriculum was enriched by different cultural activities, out-ings, celebrations and projects. I hope you enjoy reading some of these moments from our first term experience.

I take the opportunity to thank all staff members for their dedication and hard work. I thank all stake-holders for their positive collaboration.

On 25th November 2013, the Romanian language section was inau-gurated at EEB4. For the occasion, we had the honour to welcome the Secretary of the State of Romania, Vasilica Duminic�, the ambasador Mihnea Motoc, the ambasador �tefan Tinca, the Secretary General of the European Schools Mr Kivinen , the management of the school, all Romanian pupils, parents and their friends. Romanian pupils and teachers prepared a fabulous programme for this event which started with the National anthem and traditional Romanian songs. The children danced, sang, cited poems and later enjoyed the national Romanian flavours of food.

Elevii români, de la cei mai mici pân� la cei mai mari, au preg�tit un program artistic ce a început prin a ne emo�iona cu acordurile imnului na�ional �i apoi cu ritmurile muzicii tradi�ionale.

Doamna Virginia Georgescu a pictat pe fundalul scenei un decor reprezentând un peisaj din România, care ne-a f�cut s� ne sim�im mai aproape de �ara noastr�. Dansul elevilor din clasa I �i grupa mare de la gr�dini�� a completat acest peisaj cu spicele de grâu �i macii nelipsi�i de pe campiile noastre.

Elevii români SWALS ne-au purtat în lumea minunat� a colindelor iar cei de la ciclul secundar ne-au emo�ionat cu versurile compuse de ei �i prezentate într-un mod deosebit pe scen�.

Spectacolul s-a încheiat cu patru cântece tradi�ionale în interpretarea des�vâr�it� a mezzo-sopranei Camelia �tef�nescu.

Tortul în culorile drapelului, cozonacii �i turta dulce i-au f�cut pe invita�ii no�tri s� cunoasc� aromele �i savoarea gastronomiei române�ti.

În data de 25 noiembrie 2013, sala polivalent� a �colii noastre a g�z-duit spectacolul de inaugurare a sec�iei de limb� român�. Cu aceast�ocazie, elevii români din clasele a doua, a treia, a patra si a cincea pri-mare s-au unit pentru a cânta împreun� cântece tradi�ionale române�ti. �i pentru c� ne aflam la sfâr�it de an calendaristic, am ales câteva colinde ritmate �i pline de bucurie ca ,,Iat�, vin colindatori !’’, ,,Ast�zi s-a n�scut Hristos’’, ,,Domn, Domn s�-n�l��m’’ si ,,Steaua sus r�sare’’ . Spectacolul a început la orele 14. Copiii îsi a�teptau cu ner�bdare rândul. Erau foarte emo�iona�i. Repetaser� zilnic, timp de dou� s�pt�mâni. În sfâr�it, au urcat pe scen�. Dirija�i de domnul profesor Zeno Popescu �i acompania�i la pian de domnul Paul Baiges, au interpretat cântecele cu un deosebit patos, transmitând �i celor nevorbitori de limb� român� farmecul colindelor române�ti. Au fost aplauda�i de peste dou� sute de oameni : p�rin�i, invita�i oficiali, profesori. Întreba�i în zilele urm�toare ce au sim�it în timpul spectacolului, mul�i dintre ei au r�spuns ,,Bucurie !’’, ,,Mândrie !’’ si c� le-ar pl�cea ca melodiile tradi�ionale române�ti s� fie cunoscute în întreaga lume.

In P5 the European Day of Languages, focused on the theme of na-

ture! We tried to find the name of words related to the natural world, in

as many different European languages as possible. Each teacher pre-

pared a large illustration of one of the following: a flower, a butterfly, a

mushroom, a tree, a bird, a leaf, a star, a snail and a sun.

Each class began by adding the word for that object in as many lan-

guages as they could and wrote them on the large illustration. The chil-

dren also kept a record of the new words on a vocabulary sheet.

When each class found as many words as possible, the sheet was then

passed to the next class. The next class then added even more lan-

guages! Once the illustrations had been round all 9 classes it was

amazing to see that, aside from the three vehicular languages of the

European Schools, P5 is full of languages! The European day of lan-

guages showed us that we have a wealth if language at the European

School and this is a cause for celebration!

LAND ART - SEC�IA ROMÂN�

Miercuri, 23 octombrie 2013, am organizat o excursie în parcul ”Jardins du Fleuriste du Stuyvenberg” . A fost o zi frumoas� de toamn�. Soarele ne-a r�sf��at cu razele lui minunate care au pus în eviden�� în mod deosebit culorile specifice acestui anotimp. Admirând frumuse�ea naturii am încercat s� g�sim r�spunsuri la câteva întreb�ri pe care ni le-a pus doamna Adriana:

• Cum putem picta un tablou în mijlocul naturii, f�r� pensul� �i ce materiale am putea folosi?

• Putem folosi doar anumite culori sau nuan�e? • Ce ar putea s� reprezinte compozi�ia? • Cum se va schimba compozi�ia pe parcursul timpului? • Poate fi conservat� ? Apoi am adunat materialele �i am dat frâu liber imagina�iei. Astfel am descoperit farmecul ”LAND ART”.

Mardi 1er octobre, nous sommes allés à Villers la Ville, nous avons

été guidés par un monsieur qui s’appelle Maximo qui nous a appris

que les champignons n’ont pas tous la même forme, pas la même

couleur et nous les avons dessinés en équipe de deux et , ensem-

ble, toujours à deux, nous avons aussi dessiné le des-

sous .Comment avons-nous fait ?

Nous avons pris une feuille de papier, une farde, un crayon de papier ,un miroir ,pour observer le dessous.

Op 24 september gingen we met de hele Nederlandstalige sectie naar

Domein Tivoli in Mechelen. De 1ste klassers kregen een rondleiding

door de kinderboerderij en maakten kennis met de konijnen, eenden,

ganzen, pauwen, kalkoenen, schapen, geiten, varkens, everzwijnen en

als klap op de vuurpijl waren er 2 jonge duifjes van nog maar 2 weken

oud. De kinderen mochten de dieren eten geven en natuurlijk aaien.

Heel leuk, maar voor sommige kinderen nog best een beetje eng.

De 2de klassers maakten een boswandeling en maakten kennis met

allerlei insecten en kleine kriebelbeestjes die in het bos leven. De kin-

deren vingen spinnen, torretjes, duizendpoten en mieren, bekeken die

in een potje onder een vergrootglas en leerden over de verschillen en

overeenkomsten. Aan het eind van de dag kon iedereen zich heerlijk

uitleven in de speeltuin.

Pour la journée des langues, la maitresse Rosa de la P2 italienne

nous a appris une chanson : Se sei felice.

Ensuite nous l'avons appris en français et en anglais.

Nous nous sommes réunis pour chanter les 2 classes ensemble.

C'était bien !

Il 26 settembre per la Giornata Europea delle Lingue,la maestra

Nicole della classe seconda,sezione francese, ci ha insegnato una

canzone dal titolo ““Si tu as de le joie”, versione francese della can-

zone “Se sei felice”.Successivamente,abbiamo ripetuto la canzone

insieme agli alunni della maestra Nicole,alternando le varie strofe in

italiano e in francese.

E’ stato veramente bello!

In October, as part of our DDM topic on the Renaissance, P5 went to the see the exhibition on the life and works of that true Renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci. We examined his art, science, inventions and his sculpture, to name but a few of his interests and had a chance to come face to face with working models, and reconstructions of some of his major works. The children had a wonderful time and en-riched their knowledge and understanding of what it meant to be at the forefront of the creation of new ideas during the Renaissance pe-riod in Western Europe. Many thanks to all involved, including the par-ents who helped, for organising such a successful trip!

It was fun because they made copies of Leondaro da Vinci’s inven-tions, including the parachute which was really good because of the experiments we carried out in class. Alex

I liked the Mona Lisa room because it went into all the details about the picture and I learned a lot. Mia

Suite à notre sortie à Villers-La-Ville, nous avons travaillé sur les

champignons.

Nous avons appris à reconnaître ceux de la poésie « Pauvres cham-

pignons » de Pascale Pautrat : l’amanite, la coulemelle, le bolet, la

morille, la langue de bœuf, le lactaire et la girolle.

Nous avons ensuite fabriqué des mobiles que nous avons suspendus

dans la classe.

Enfin, nous avons réalisé une frise et un panneau qui ont été affichés

dans le couloir.

Les incroyables inventions de Léonard De Vinci.

Mercredi 9 Octobre, nous sommes allés voir avec la classe l’exposition Da Vinci à la Bourse, dans le centre de Bruxelles.

Le but de cette sortie de classe était de comprendre le génie de Léonard De Vinci et de découvrir les maquettes de la plupart de ses inventions.

Nous avions tous un audiophone et nous pouvions nous balader libre-ment en regardant les machines.

Dans la première salle se trouvaient les manuscrits que l’on appelait Codex. Leonard De Vinci utilisait l’écriture en miroir afin que, si quelqu'un se permettait de les lire, il ne lirait pas son génie.

Dans la deuxième et plus grande salle se trouvaient les machines aéronautiques, c’est à dire le Planeur, le Parachute…

Il y avait aussi les machines aquatiques par exemple le sous marin, le scaphandre, la main palmée… il y avait aussi les machines qui vont sur l’eau comme le pédalo.

Leonard De Vinci a aussi inventé le pont mobile et le pont suspendu, des inventions que nous utilisons souvent maintenant.

Il a inventé également certains instruments de musique comme la flûte double, le piano portatif, le tambour mécanique et sa fameuse horloge qui donne les minutes et les heures mais également la position du soleil et de la lune. C’est lui qui a inventé les premières machines de guerre. Il y a le char d’assaut, la catapulte, la mitrailleuse à trois regis-tres…

Il y a une de ces machines de guerres qui m’a marquée plus particu-lièrement : c’est le char d’assaut. C’est une sorte de cône en bois avec des ouvertures tout le tour pour faire passer les mitraillettes, et à l’intérieur un système d’engrenages pour faire avancer le char. Cette invention a inspiré les chars modernes .Pourtant Leonard De Vinci était un pacifiste.

Je garderai un bon souvenir de cette sortie de classe qui m’a appris beaucoup de choses.

������������������� �� ���European Day of Languages start with a celebration in P3 this year.

All of the children gathered together at the start of the day to sing our

simple European Anthem in five school languages (English, French,

Dutch, German and Italian).

Following this we had our language 2 lessons, in which the children

participated in a variety of activities. In some classes, the variety of

languages spoken was celebrated with the creation of a mini

"European Languages Passport", whilst in others, entirely new

languages were taught and learned, just for one day.

Children also participated in a language Treasure Hunt earlier in the

week in which they had to investigate how to translate some things

into other languages spoken in the school. This encouraged them to

engage with their peers in other language sections.

A great day was had by all.

+�����������,��)�������Le dimanche 6 octobre 2013, de nombreux élèves de l’école ont participé

à la course des Kids, à l’occasion du marathon de Bruxelles. Chacun a

parcouru, à son rythme, les mille mètres du parcours organisé dans le

Parc du Cinquantenaire.

Félicitations à tous ces champions en herbe ! Ils nous ont brillamment représentés et ont largement mérité de poser avec leur médaille.

Nous vous attendons encore plus nombreux à l’occasion d’une prochaine course…

����-��������'*�This term's DDM topic in P3 is Water and Recycling.

We were lucky enough to be able to participate in some very engaging

workshops across the whole of P3. Run in our classrooms by the Cap-

Science animateurs, each class had a full day of fashioning and making a

range of percussion and tuned musical instruments out of natural materials

found in the Belgian forests.

The children made rain sticks, instruments that emulated the sound of frogs

and whistles and among other things. They learned how to work these

natural materials with tools and how to use these tools safely. At the end of

the day every class met in the playground to form one big orchestra with

each class playing a particular group of instruments.

Conducted with great passion while accompanied by some Mozart piano

music, the children played well together and made a wonderful sound!

�� �!�"���#�������.���/��������Samen met de Engelse, Italiaanse, Duitse en Roemeense klas maakten

we op 24 oktober een uitstapje nar het Afrika museum in Tervuren. We

leerden over Afrikaanse maskers en dieren. Liggend op de museum

vloer imiteerden we een slang van wel 20 meter lang! Vooral de

opgezette dieren in de vitrines hadden onze belangstelling.

,�0��/�����$����������������Dinsdag 24 september zijn we met de hele NE-sectie naar Tivoli bij

Mechelen geweest. Het was een erg leuke dag, met een heerlijk

zonnetje! We hebben gespeeld en wat geleerd.

Voor de lunch gingen we onder begeleiding door het park. Wij hadden

als thema ‘Eten en gegeten worden’. Een mevrouw vertelde ons over

het eten in de natuur. We hebben schapen, een pony en eenden

gevoerd, schedels mogen vasthouden, een stiekeme rat in de stal

gezien, geproefd van ‘ahorn-siroop’ en nog veel meer.

De vijfde klas ontdekte in de speeltuin al snel de grote schommel en

maakte plezier met zijn allen.

Het was een geslaagde dag!

Am 6.10.2013 war der 10. Brüssel Marathon mit über 14.000 Teilnehmern. Um 11 Uhr startete der Kids run über eine Laufstrecke von einem Kilometer. Jedes Kind, das am Wettbewerb teilnehmen wollte, musste in ein großes Zelt gehen, um sich anzumelden.

Außerdem musste sich jeder Teilnehmer dort eine Nummer holen und bekam ein Chiquita Shirt. Ein paar Kinder haben sich mit den Lehrerinnen Annette Birk Rickert und Anne Pertuisot aufgewärmt.

Danach ging es zum Start, der live moderiert wurde und mit einem lauten Knall begann.

Im Ziel wurde jeder Läufer mit großem Jubel empfangen. Jedes Kind bekam eine Medallie, einen Rucksack, ein Getränk und eine Chiquita Banane.

Es war ein großer Erfolg und ich hoffe das jeder mit seinem Ergebnis zufrieden ist.

All of the children in P3 participated in wonderful day-long workshops on

Pre-history in November. The Cap Science team visited our school to

give us a day packed with fun activities. The children learned about the

different variety of human species, made their own hunting arrows from

tree branches carved with stone, completed cave paintings made with

charcoal and earth and even attempted to make fire by rubbing stones

together. The day culminated in a competition to see whose arrow could

fly the furthest. These wonderful workshops really engage the children

by allowing them to participate in highly practical activities related to the

topic they studied in DDM.

����(�����������������������The P5 students have realized that the school at Laeken is a gateway to the stars, following our visit to the nearby Planetarium. The visit launched our new DDM topic for this half term, Earth and Space, by blasting us into the far reaches of space.

The students were treated to a very informative and sometimes breathtaking presentation on our relationship with the universe. We were able to observe the sky at night and learned about the many constellations we see above Europe. This linked nicely with previously studies about Greek myths and legends as we learned the origins of the names of the constellations.

We were also able to observe the moon at close quarters, as well as other planets in our solar system. We discussed far off stars and galaxies, giving the students some idea of the grand scale of space.The session ended with questions and answers, allowing some of the children to pose questions which may have been puzzling them to the experts at hand. Some of the questions were provoked by the wonderful images we had seen that morning.

The visit inspired the students to learn more about space and encouraged them to question things previously taken for granted. We are continuing to learn about our solar system in class, building on the interesting launch to the topic. Hopefully the children will continue to question the world around us, as well as explore the many mysteries of our universe!

���������������Am Freitag, den 08.November ist jede fünfte Klasse von der Schule direkt zum "Planetarium de Bruxelles" gegangen. Um 8.30 Uhr gingen wir los. Wir waren ein bisschen spät dran, deswegen sind wir schnell gelaufen, aber dafür hatten wir keinen Sportunterricht. Wir kamen pünktlich 2 Minuten vor Anfang der Vorstellung an. Die Veranstaltung war in einem Raum mit einer großen Kuppel, unter der wir saßen. Wir haben uns Sternbilder und Planeten angeschaut. Ich habe gelernt, dass der Planet Merkur der Sonne am nächsten ist. Auf ihm sind es 220° C heiß. Venus, Erde, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus und Neptun sind von der Sonne immer noch ein Stück weiter entfernt. Eine Frau hat das alles auf französisch erklärt. Für viele von uns war das kein Problem. Konstantin hat herausgefunden, wieso wir den Nordstern als Orientierung benutzen und warum die Planeten um die Sonne kreisen. Wir haben viel über das Sonnensystem und unsere Galaxie gelernt. Im Kuppelsaal war noch ein Mann, der den Projektor bediente. Der Sternenhimmel war immer sehr groß über uns projeziert.Victoria saß neben Konstantin und als es eine kleine Pause gab, ist Giulia an die andere Seite gekommen. Der Ausflug war sehr interessant und schön. Wir haben viel gelernt. Gerne hätten wir noch die Dinge in den anderen Sälen besichtigt.

Op vrijdag 25 oktober vierden wij Halloween. Wij deden een mode show

waarin wij onszelf voorstelden. We speelden spelletjes, deden een

spannende stoelendans en dansten op hip-hop muziek.

9.��:?��"�Le mercredi 23 octobre a eu lieu la fête d’Halloween dans certaines classes de maternelle. Les enfants et les grandes de MAT. Fr.a et la classe de MAT. Bg s’en sont données à coeur joie. La matinée commune aux deux classes a débutée par deux bricolages auxquels étaient conviés d’une part mes aînés pour confectionner une chauve-souris et d’autre par les plus jeunes pour réaliser une petite citrouille. Les petits sorciers et les petites sorcières, les citrouilles, les squelettes, le pirate, les fantômes et vampires avaient bien mérité un petit break «gastronomique». Le buffet bien garni ne l’est pas resté longtemps ! La matinée s’est terminée par un spectacle de marionnettes «A la recherche de la petite sorcière».

On Thursday October 24th , the Anglophone section held their inaugural

Halloween Party. In the Celtic calendar, Hallowe'en was one of the most

important days of the year, representing a mid point in the year, Samhain,

or "summer's end". Occurring opposite the great Spring Festival of May

Day, or Bealtaine, this day represented the turning point of the year, the

eve of the new year.

And it certainly was a wonderful opportunity for students and families to

meet, to chat, to get to know each other and to dance the night away in

the Salle Polyvalente. Our DJ Jackie, taught the children some fantastic

dance routines. Prizes were awarded for best dancers as well as best

costumes and there were winners all round!

Game areas were set up around the hall where the children could dare to

have lots of scary adventures - including finding spiders in spaghetti!

Backstage, our wonderful parent helpers organised a cafeteria where

food and drinks were available in a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Many thanks to our teachers and parent volunteers for making this such a

fun, successful night!

In de klas werkten we bij werledoriëntatie aan het onderwerp

Renaissance en daarbij hoort natuurlijk ook Leonardo Da Vinci.

Donderdag 10 oktober gingen we samen met de andere P5-klassen

naar de Beurs. Daar bezochten we de expositie over Lleonardo Da

Vinci. We startten met een activiteitenboekje en een audio-gids, ook

schetsten en tekenden we. Je mocht aan sommige ‘apparaten’ zitten

met je handen en waren er filmpjes.

Later maakten we een verslag met illustraties van het bezoek. Daarbij

koos iedereen hetgeen dat het meeste indruk had gemaakt.

+.$�����Ein Höhepunkt jagt nach den Herbstferien den nächsten! Am

15.11.2103 findet wie jedes Jahr der bundesweite Vorlesetag statt. Aus

organisatorischen Gründen kamen bereits am Mittwoch, den

13.11.2013 die Kinder aus der P3 zusammen mit ihren mitgebrachten

Büchern zu uns in die Klasse. Die Großen suchten sich ein MAT-Kind

aus und nachdem alle Kinder verteilt waren, wurde sich ein Plätzchen

zum Vorlesen gesucht: im Gruppenraum, in der Puppenecke, auf dem

Flur, in der Garderobe und sogar der Gemeinschaftsraum wurde zum

Vorlesen genutzt!

Es herrschte eine ganz entspannte Stimmung, die Großen bemühten

sich, ihre Geschichten verständlich vorzulesen und die Kleinen hingen

an ihren Lippen. Im Anschluss an das Vorlesen wurde noch ein Bild

über das Gehörte gemalt. Nach einer Stunde war es für die Großen

leider an der Zeit, wieder in ihre Klasse zu gehen. Unsere Kinder haben

den Vorlesetag einmal wieder sehr genossen!

Projet 1 : Nous avons cherché quelles étaient les émotions qui nous traversaient lorsque nous entrons en contact avec quelqu’un. Nos mains se touchent …que ressentons nous ? qu’est ce que cela signifie ? Nous utilisons nos mains pour exprimer la colère, la gentillesse, la tendresse, l’amour, la peur …. Les couleurs aussi nous parlent …. Ainsi ,nos mains en colère se sont habillées de rouge , de noir, de gris . Tandis que les mains qui s’aiment se sont mises à ressembler à des arcs-en-ciel . Projet 2 : A la manière de Piet Mondrian nous avons imaginé que chaque carreau représentait un individu , parfois heureux ( majorité de couleurs chaudes), parfois triste (majorité de noir , de blanc) qui établit des liens avec les autres selon ses émotions .

��������������������������The school was very lucky to receive a visit from Steve Cole, author of

the wildly popular Astrosaurus series. The children had a great time as

he introduced his books and told fantastic stories about where he finds

his ideas. His inspirational talk included readings and the creation of

two brand new Superheroes- Rabbit Girl and Chicken Boy- and was

enjoyed by everybody.

P5 L2 EN classes were also able to enjoy the wonderfully entertaining

array of stories told by Steve. The L2 children were enthralled and they

all had a great opportunity to use their listening skills. The extended

question and answer session gave many of them a chance to practice

thier spoken English in a real life context: they did very well!

Afterwards, the children were able to get signed copies of his books

and buy other books at the annual Book Fair.

�������������������Bereits am 14.November 2013 ging es zusammen mit der anderen

deutsch-sprachigen Maternelle-Klasse in das Folon- Museum in La

Hulpe. Es ging nach einer ruhigen Busfahrt zu Fuß durch den Park

erst einmal in einen schön geheizten ehemaligen Kuhstall, um dort zu

frühstücken. Anschließend ging die eine Klasse zu der

Museumsführung und die andere nahm an einem Workshop teil:

Hier wurde die Technik des Aquarellmalens erklärt und auch gleich

ausprobiert. Die Kinder malten ein Bild à la Jean-Michel Folon und

durften dieses am Ende des Tages natürlich auch mit nach Hause

nehmen!

Nach dem Mittagessen und einigen Laufspielen im umliegenden Park

wurde das Museum durch eine riesige magische Tür betreten und

unsere Reise begann durch die Bilderwelt des Herrn Folon: Immer

wieder trafen die Kinder auf den „Mann mit dem blauen Hut und dem

blauen Umhang“. Zwei Räume hat die Kinder besonders beeindruckt:

Der Spiegelraum, der uns das Gefühl gab, im Kopf eines Menschen

zu sein und der magische Raum, in dem ein Mann versucht mit einer

Leiter in den Weltall zu steigen. Der Ausflug war einmal wieder sehr

schön und die Eindrücke verarbeiteten die Kinder gleich in der

darauffolgenden schulweiten Kunstwoche!

Woensdagmorgen gingen wij, samen met de kleuterklas van juf Jos,

naar de theatervoorstelling ´De Gruffalo´ in de Europese School Brus-

sel III. De toneelspelers zagen er in het begin uit als 3 gewone jon-

gens, maar geleidelijk aan veranderden ze steeds weer in een ander

dier. En zo maakten we kennis met een slimme muis, die op een

piepklein gitaartje speelde, en die elke keer opnieuw een list bedacht

om niet opgegeten te worden door de vos, de uil en de slang. Toen

uiteindelijk de Gruffalo zelf op het toneel verscheen, was dat best een

grote schrik, maar gelukkig liep het goed af. Bij het navertellen van het

verhaal, de volgende dag, bleek wel hoe goed de kinderen meege-

leefd en geluisterd hebben. Terug op school hebben schitterende

Gruffalo´s getekend en geschilderd.

Gestern waren wir im Wald auf Pilzsuche. Mir hat es gefallen! Wir haben

Pilze gesucht. Wir sollten sie malen und ihnen einen Namen geben.

Dann haben wir Holz gesucht und ein Feuer gemacht. Wir haben Pilze

gegrillt und sie gegessen.

Gestern waren wir im Wald Pilze suchen. Wir hatten den Wald mit

einem Schlüssel aufgesperrt. Wir haben auch Spiele und ein Feuer ge-

macht.

Gestern waren ich und meine Klasse im Wald. Wir haben Pilze

angeschaut und gegessen. Wir hatten auch eine Führerin. Gemeinsam

haben wir ein Lagerfeuer gemacht.

Gestern waren wir im Wald. Alle Kinder brachten Holz und dann durfte

ich das Feuer anzünden. Als das Feuer brannte, zerrissen wir die

Champignons. Wir gaben die Pilze in die Pfannen. Dann aßen wir die

En Heures Européennes, depuis le mois de septembre, tout un groupe

d’élèves a jardiné dans l’école devant le bâtiment G ; chaque vendredi,

ils ont désherbé plusieurs plates-bandes pour que nous puissions en-

suite planter des fleurs, des plantes aromatiques, des légumes…

Le blog est tout nouveau ; il sera alimenté au fur et à mesure par les

élèves jardiniers de primaire.

Elefant und Giraffe in Originalgröße! Zwar waren sie nicht mehr

lebendig, aber sie sahen fast so aus.

Ende Oktober besuchten alle P1-Klassen das Afrika-Museum in

Tervuren und konnten dort interessante Tiere sehen: Elefanten,

Giraffen, Geparde, Gnus, Löwen, Insekten und viele weitere Tiere.

Außerdem waren afrikanische Waffen (aus Holz und Metall) und

furchterregende Masken anzuschauen. Ein Führer gab zu den

verschiedenen Bereichen der Ausstellung interessante Erklärungen.

In der Mittagspause wurden die mitgebrachten Lunchpakete auf der

Treppe vor dem Museum in der Sonne verspeist. Zum Schluss blieb

noch ein wenig Zeit, um Fußball oder in einem angrenzenden Wald zu

spielen. Es war ein gelungener Ausflug!

Am 10. Oktober waren wir auf einem Ausflug in Villers-la-Ville. Wir

waren dort im Wald spazieren und haben viele Pilze gesehen. Der

tollste Pilz den wir gesehen haben war ein Fliegenpilz. Wir haben

im Wald auch Maronis gesammelt und wir haben ein Holzhaus

gesehen. Zum Schluß haben wir ein Lagerfeuer gemacht und die

Pilze und Maronis gegrillt. Das war lecker!

Durante la settimana dell’arte tra il 18 e il 22 novembre,a scuola ci

siamo divertiti molto, grazie alla settimana dell’arte sul tema dei

legami, che ha fatto lavorare tutte le classi insieme, dalla prima alla

quinta!

La prima opera l’abbiamo realizzata con delle cartine geografiche e

tante città formate da rotoli di carta e ponti di cartone. La seconda,

invece, e’ stata realizzata su una tela successivamente verniciata di

marrone sulla quale abbiamo attaccato degli ingranaggi di carta e

delle strisce bianche di fettuccina con scritto i nostri nomi in greco,

fenicio e in geroglifico, alcune parole chiave indicavano che la

scrittura è il nostro legame con gli uomini del passato!

Infine abbiamo riflettuto e parlato molto sul tema dei legami e sul loro

significato nel mondo ancora prima della settimana dell’arte.

Successivamente, abbiamo fatto un concorso per decidere che nome

dare alla nostra opera. Tutti dissero la loro e vinse così l’idea di

Giordano : Legamiland…..

Mercoledì era il giorno più divertente di tutti gli altri: abbiamo

decorato la scuola con fili colorati, abbiamo preparato nastri per tutte

le classi e abbiamo pure rifatto i nodi dei bambini più piccoli.

E adesso tutte le ringhiere sono decorate così come le scale, gli

alberi, le colonne ecc …

Inoltre, non abbiamo fatto lezione e ci siamo divertiti a fare fiocchi e a

rimetterli a posto.

Giovedì siamo andati a visitare la mostra che era bellissima: ogni

classe ha rappresentato un aspetto dei legami con tecniche di diversi

artisti, e la sala era decorata con nastri colorati. le classi di P5 hanno

lavorato sui legami con la tecnologia e realizzato delle macchine

ispirandosi a Tinguely e Munari. Le P3 hannosviluppato il legame

con il mondo naturale o con le città, mentre le P2 presentavano

legami affettivi, era tutto molto originale!

Il venerdì è stata la mattina delle prove del nostro spettacolo, che si sarebbe tenuto nel pomeriggio per l’inaugurazione della mostra dell’arte. Durante le prove ci siamo divertiti tantissimo tutti insieme, anche se l’emozione e la tensione erano alte.

Arrivò l’ora di iniziare lo spettacolo, eravamo tutti molto nervosi, e pensavamo di non farcela,ma alla fine tutto andò per il meglio.

Lo spettacolo con il coro delle ore europee, la nostra danza e la sfilata di moda fu molto apprezzato dai nostri genitori che si emozionarono e si divertirono allo stesso tempo.

Questa esperienza è stata positiva, mi ha fatto divertire, mi ha insegnato a condividere le mie idee con altri bambini, a saper ascoltare e rispettare la loro opinione e a cercare di trovare sempre…..

UN LEGAME !!!

Nella nostra scuola è stata organizzata una grande mostra d’arte sul tema dei legami e abbiamo lavorato tutti insieme dal 18 al 22 novembre. Era un momento molto atteso da tutti, tutti avevano creato opere diverse che corrispondevano a legami col tempo, l’ambiente e gli animali, il mondo, la tecnologia e altri temi. La nostra classe ha creato un modellino di città a vari piani che rappresentavano i legami. Inoltre, avevamo preparato diersi progetti tra cui dei quadri collettivi, uno dei quali rappresentava la scrittura come legame con il passato e l’ altro, fatto da Giacomo a Raffaella, il legame con la natura.

Lunedì, il primo giorno, è stata una giornata abbastanza normale solo che abbiamo lavorato sulla nostra opera a vari piani e abbiamo scelto un nome per ogni piano: l’amore, la cultura, la cucina, il tempo libero, il lavoro, la musica e altri. Poi dopo la ricreazione è arrivata la parte più bella: al posto di religione e morale abbiamo decorato la scuola con nastri colorati.

Martedì, il secondo giorno, abbiamo finalmente scelto il nome dell’opera: Legamiland. Per crearla abbiamo incollato otto scatole e una base e le abbiamo ricoperte di mappe con sopra delle città fatte di rotoli di cartoncino colorato collegate da pezzi di fil di ferro e ogni piano aveva un nome. Dopo abbiamo creato molti slogan interessanti per fare pubblicità a Legamiland.

Il terzo giorno siamo andati a tagliare fili per decorare la scuola. Certe bambine della mia classe, compresa me, hanno intrecciato e legato fili insieme per rappresentare legami su una ringhiera: era splendido. Poi abbiamo tagliati molti fili per i bambini che venivano a decorare.

Il venerdì abbiamo fatto le prove della danza che dovevamo eseguire sul palcoscenico. All’esposizione c’erano tutte le opere di tutte le classi. Quando sono iniziati gli spettacoli la corale ha cominciato a cantare poi era il nostro turno e la danza è piaciuta a tutti. Dopo c’era la sfilata di borse e magliette fatte a mano dai gruppi delle ore europee e ho partecipato anch’io.

Questa settimana è stata proprio intensa e emozionante, mi sono divertita ma ho anche capito che viviamo in un mondo di LEGAMI.

Le yoga est un sport de relaxation. Ce qui j´aime bien, c´est le massage.

Pour faire le massage il faut une balle avec des piques. Mais au dessus ce m´est pas pointu mais arondi. Pour le massage il faut deux personnes. Un des deux personnes ce couche sure le ventre et l´autre personne prend la balle.

On roule la balle sur le dos mais pas au millieur du dos. On peut le faire sur les fesses es sur le jambes. Sur les jambe on peu appuyer avec la balle. La personne qui roule la balle doit le faire pendant 10 minutes. Celui qui es couche me peut pas bouger et ses pieds doivent se toucher.

An einem Tag feierte die deutsche Sektion „Sankt Martin“ und die Klasse P2DE tanzte einen Lichtertanz. Wir haben auch für die Eltern gesungen und zwar haben wir vier Lieder gesungen. Am Ende bekam jeder einen Weckmann. Und als jeder den Weckmann bekommen hat, gingen die Eltern mit den Kindern nach Hause.

Net voor de herfstvakantie vierden we Halloween. We mochten ons

verkleden.

We lazen in groepjes over “bang zijn”. Wat gebeurt er in ons

lichaam als we bang zijn. We vertelden elkaar wanneer we soms

bang zijn en waarvan. Natuurlijk waren er een paar jongens die wat

stoer wilden doen !! We merkten op dat iedereen wel eens bang is,

zelfs de juf!!

Nous avons eu une journée superbe grâce aux animateurs de Cap Science ! Nous avons vécu à l’époque de la Préhistoire.

Nous avons appris à faire du feu, c’était difficile et chaque petite étincelle était très précieuse : il fallait souffler dessus mais pas trop fort sinon nous la perdions. La classe sentait le brûlé mais nous sommes parvenus à maîtriser le feu comme Homo Erectus ! (Image ici si possible)

Nous avons aussi fait un concours de lancer de flèches : nous avions fabriqué nos flèches avec du bois de noisetier et une pierre pour gratter l’écorce puis nous nous sommes entraînés à les propulser avec de la corde. C’était très difficile ! Nous ne sommes pas prêts de rapporter le repas pour toute la famille, il ne faut pas trop compter sur nous…

Par contre, vous pouvez compter sur nous pour vous expliquer comment les hommes préhistoriques ont évolué pour donner nos ancêtres directs : Homo Sapiens. Nous sommes devenus très savants à ce sujet !

In september maakten we met de Nederlandstalige sectie een

uitstap naar het Tivolipark te Mechelen. Het was er fantastisch. Er

was een kinderboerderij, een speeltuin en uiteraard het park.

Onze gids vertelde ons veel over de soorten bomen in het park en

de dieren.

We weten nu waarom de bomen hun bladeren verliezen in de

herfst, waarom er zwammen groeien op omgevallen bomen en

hoe de dieren de winter overleven.

We zochten ook takken om in de klas bosmonsters te maken. We

picknickten in het park, want we hadden weer de prachtigste dag

van de week uitgekozen.

De andere klassen vertelden ook heel enthousiast over hun

activiteiten. We speelden samen en vertrokken terug naar school.

Bravant le froid et le vent, les élèves de notre école ont, tout au long de cette semaine, déployé une énergie et un enthousiasme formidables afin de décorer leur école et présenter une exposition magnifique, riche et colorée, travaillant dans un même but : faire de ce lieu de vie commun, un espace gai et chaleureux.

La tâche était ambitieuse, mais les enfants ont porté le projet « legami » sans faillir, depuis septembre.

Exploitant le thème du lien sous toutes ses facettes- les liens affectifs, les liens avec la nature, dans l’Europe, les liens dans la ville, les liens mécaniques…-, nos élèves ont fait montre d’une grande créativité.

Le vendredi 22/11/2013, a eu lieu l’inauguration de l’exposition ; un moment festif et porteur de sens autour du projet « legami ». Chants de la chorale des heures européennes, danse et défilé de mode ont accompagné joyeusement les fabuleux travaux des enfants.

Manche Aktionen, die innerhalb des deutschsprachigen Raumes sehr beliebt und erfolgreich sind, übernehmen wir gerne in unserer Abteilung, so auch die Aktion „Vorlesetag“. Gemeint ist hiermit, dass Kinder, die schon gut lesen können, Lesepaten für jüngere Kinder sind.

„Es war wirklich richtig aufregend mit meinem Lesekind, denn es hat mir sehr aufmerksam zugehört.......Ich durfte nicht aufhören zu le-sen, mein Patenkind wollte immer mehr hören…!“ Viele dieser posi-tiven Reaktionen waren nach der Vorleseeinheit von den Vorlesern zu hören. Doch auch die Zuhörer waren begeistert von den Älteren betreut zu werden, zum Teil konnten ja auch die Leseanfänger schon das eine oder andere Wort beitragen. Die zweite und dritte Klasse besuchten die Kinder der Maternelle, dort verzogen sich alle paarweise in angenehme Ecken und es wurde gelesen. Anschließend malten die Kleinen ein Bild zum Gehörten. Die vierte Klasse las den Erstklässlern aus deren Fibeln vor, was dieses Buch nun für die Leseanfänger noch interessanter macht. Bleibt noch die fünfte Klasse, die sich gerne mit den Klassen der zweiten Jahr-gangsstufe zusammentat, um in entspannter Atmosphäre zu schmökern.

Von allen Kindern war zu hören, dass sie diese Leseaktion gerne wiederholen möchten und was können sich die Lehrerinnen mehr wünschen, als Schüler und Schülerinnen, die Spaß an Büchern ha-ben.

Na de herfstvakantie werkten we aan het kunstproject. Het thema

was “verbindingen natuur en Europa”. We verbonden de landen

van Europa met houten ladders en daarover liepen mensen. Onze

bosmonsters hebben we in gele potjes geplaatst en zo als sterren

op de Europese vlag gezet. We hebben heel hard gewerkt, maar

de resultaten mochten er wel zijn!!!! De ouders mochten ook ko-

men kijken naar de werken die we gemaakt hadden tijdens de Eu-

ropese Uren. Sommige leerlingen van de klas ontwierpen t -shirts

en handtassen.

Children in P5 have worked extremely hard to put together another

As part of another successful European Hours module of work, children from P5 organised and ran their own Art Auction! Selling the work they have produced in class, as part of their European Hours activities, the children managed to raise a significant amount of money to go to char-ity; specifically to pay for children in Uganda to go to school, and to go towards improving our school playground!

The parents were greeted and then welcomed by the wonderfully tal-ented European Hours artists, and then enjoyed a visual presentation of their work, digitally projected onto the wall. A multi-lingual welcome then followed, representing the different European languages in the classes. The children spoke clearly and well, and made all of the invited parents feel most welcome.

Our auction masters then performed their task brilliantly as they swiftly went from one sale to another. Aided by assistants, who ensured that the correct details were noted so that the buyer received the correct piece of art that they had asked for, the auctioneers did themselves proud!

The bidding by the parents was an exciting process and it was wonder-ful to see that all of the works of art were sold. The children were happy to donate their work to charity and we would like to thank them, and their parents for their generosity.

After the auction was over, the children were given their own copy of the European Hours Calendar, within which they could find some of their own hard work! After a few words, the auction was closed by an enthusiastic round of applause for the children for all their hard work.

In 2007 adopteerde de school vijf kinderen uit Uganda. Door onze steun

kunnen onze kindjes naar school. Het project ontstond in een school te

Zaventem. Tijdens de kerstconcerten worden er t- shirts verkocht en

kunstwerken van de kinderen geveild.

We betalen in januari 600 euro aan de vzw Kids for Uganda. Daardoor

kunnen onze kindjes het volgend schooljaar starten. We ontvangen hun

rapportjes en die zagen er wer heel goed uit. Wie meer wil weten over

Tout au long de la semaine du 18 novembre 2013, toutes les classes primaires ont préparé la semaine d'art.

Toutes les classes ont travaillé sur un thème bien précis ”Legami” (ce qui veut dire en Italien liens); et nous, les cinquièmes, nous avons travaillé sur les liens mécaniques à la façon de Jean Tinguely, donc des machines imaginaires.

Pendant toute la semaine, des classes se sont occupées de décorer l'école avec toutes sortes de matériaux: laine, fil de fer, rubans ...

Notre classe (P5 Frb) et la classe de Mme Marjolijn van Waasbek (P5 NE) avons eu la responsabilité de décorer la salle Polyvalente: le lieu de l'exposition!

Le vendredi 22/11 l'exposition a ouvert ses portes. L'ouverture a été accompagnée du défilé de mode, d'un concert et d'une danse. Tous les parents étaient invités.

L'exposition a duré une semaine, et était ouverte à tous. C'était Génial!

Les classes de P5 ont participé à la création de machines à base de

matériaux de récupération. Nous avons travaillé pendant 5 après-midi

pour créer ces machines imaginaires inspirées des machines de

« Tinguely ». Peindre, visser, dévisser, assembler et coller, voici les 5

mots de ces ateliers.

Du brauchst nur ein paar Materialien, dann hast du ruck-zuck einen Weihnachtshirsch, der dir Gesellschaft leistet.

Fangen wir mit dem Kopf an:

Du brauchst:

Zeitungspapier und Kleister

Kraftband oder Klebeband

Zwei große Blumentöpfe

Zwei starke Taschenlampen

Transparentpapier

Lange Stöcke als Geweih

Schere und Pinsel

a) Als erstes nimmst du dir zwei Blumentöpfe und klebst sie

aneinander, in etwa so, dass es eine Kopfform annimmt. Dann

schneidest du hinten in einen Blumentopf ein Loch (es muss so groß

sein, dass später beide Taschenlampen durchpassen).

b) Jetzt schneidest du zwei gleich große kleine Löcher vorne in den

Blumentopf (die Löcher sind die Augen). Klebe jetzt zwei Scheiben

Transparentpapier unter die Augen (von innen). Nimm dir das

Zeitungspapier und zerknülle es zu Kügelchen. Stecke diese

anschließend zur Polsterung der Taschenlampen in den Kopf hinein.

Lege die Taschenlampen auf die Polsterung im Kopf (sodass sie durch

die Augen leuchten können). Achtung – schalte sie noch nicht an, so

verbrauchst du nicht so viel Strom!

c) Schließlich nimmst du die Stöcke und befestigst sie mit Kraft- oder

Klebeband am Kopf über den Augen. Jetzt zerreißt du Zeitungspapier

in kleine und große Stücke. Rühre Kleister an und fange an, den Kopf

zu kleistern. Nehme dafür am besten einen Pinsel. Da hinten ja noch

das Loch ist, baust du eine Klappe, sodass man die Lampen noch an-

und ausmachen kann. Zum Schluss guckst du noch einmal, ob alles

stabil ist und fertig ist der Kopf!

,�����%����Tijdens de lessen WO leerden we veel over de bomen, bladeren,

dieren, zwammen, soorten bossen en veel meer.

We maakten een kleine tentoonstelling. Natuurlijk gaan we in de loop

van het schooljaar nog meer leren over het bos omdat we in juni op

bosklas gaan naar Massembre. De juf bracht een Tonderzwam mee

naar school. Hij groeide op een zieke boom die tijdens de storm omviel.

De tonderzwam is een schimmel die als een grote, stevige

paddenstoel op dode of zieke bomen groeit. Hij parasiteert op zieke of

beschadigde bomen en doodt de boom in enkele jaren tijd met zijn

witte schimmeldraden of zwamvlok. Hij is niet eetbaar, maar wel zeer

ontvlambaar als hij droog is. Reeds in de prehistorie werd hij gebruikt

om een vuurtje te maken.

P4NE

-�����/�����Op maandag 2 december kwam Sinterklaas langs op school. Hij had

twee Pieten meegenomen en nog zeven Hulp-Pietjes (niet verder

vertellen: dat waren zeven vijfde klassers!).

We zongen buiten voor de Sint en in de klas kregen we een

cadeautje en een cadeau voor de klas. Alle kinderen kregen een

echte breinbreker; een houten puzzel die ingewikkeld in elkaar zit.

Ook kregen we een groot gezelschapsspel voor de klas en voor

iedereen speculaas.

In de loop van de ochtend gingen we met alle klassen van de

Nederlandstalige Maternelle en Primaire klassen op bezoek bij de

Sint. Iedereen deed een liedje en/of een dansje. Wij hadden ‘Zwarte

Pieten Stijl’ ingestudeerd. Helaas werkte de techniek niet mee en

konden we het niet aan alle klassen laten zien. Gelukkig kwam Sint

met zijn Pieten nog even langs in de klas en ... ze waren onder de

indruk!

-�����/�����Op 2 december kwam Sinterklaas op bezoek. De Nederlandstalige

sectie zorgt ervoor dat iedereen op school weet wie de Sint is. Klas 1 en

2 zong een lied voor de Sint. Nadien bracht hij een bezoek aan alle

klassen. Onze sectie kreeg een privébezoek. Iedere klas zong of danste

voor de Sint. De Zwarte Pieten dansten ook mee. We kregen elk een

mooi cadeautje en nog eens een extra klasgeschenk! We zullen zeker

heel braaf geweest zijn. Hopelijk komt hij volgend jaar terug!!

"�/�����������!@�'��Der Nikolaus hat sich dieses Jahr wieder sehr zur Freude der Kleinen

und Großen in die Maternelle der Europäischen Schule Brüssel IV

getraut!

Alle Kinder begrüßten den Heiligen Mann mit seinen beiden Helfern im

Gemeinschaftsraum, es wurden die klassischen Lieder gesungen und

diese Jahr konnten wir sogar zum Abschluss ein Foto zusammen mit

den Sinterklaas und den beiden Swarten Piets machen! … na, wer

kann da denn noch daran zweifelt, ob es ihn gibt, den Nikolaus?!

Die Schüler der katholischen Religionsklassen P3-5 DE haben wie

jedes Jahr ein soziales Projekt im Dezember durchgeführt. Dieses Jahr

besuchten wir die Adventsfeier des Seniorenkreises von Sankt Paulus,

der deutschsprachigen katholischen Gemeinde in Brüssel. Wir haben

Weihnachtslieder gesungen, ein Gedicht und eine Weihnachtsmotette

vorgetragen. Zum Abschluss bekam jeder der Senioren einen Tan-

nenzweig mit selbst gebastelten Anhängern aus Bienenwaben.

Hilfsbereite Mütter und Verwandte brachten uns gerade noch

rechtzeitig zum Ende der eigentlichen Adventsfeier der Senioren. Diese

freuten sich aber dann sichtlich über unser Kommen und hörten uns

aufmerksam und begeistert zu. Als jeder von uns einen Adventszweig

einem unserer Zuhörer gab, konnten wir uns auch mit ihnen unterhal-

ten. Nac hdem wir unsere Schüchternheit etwas überwunden hatten,

bemerkten wir, dass manche von ihnen sehr still waren, andere dafür

viel erzählten. Wir vermuten, dass die einen vielleicht schon müde

waren, vielleicht nicht mehr so gut hören oder auch das Sprechen müh-

sam finden. Die anderen haben vielleicht nicht oft die Gelegenheit zu

einem Gespräch.

Das Projekt hat uns viel Spass gemacht, weil wir wir den Senioren eine

Freude machen konnten und wir alle auch viel von einander gelernt ha-

ben. Deshalb würden wir gerne dieses Projekt wiederholen.

The new Student Council, made up of elected representatives of all classes P3, P4 and P5, has already met three times. Its main task is to try and identify proposals that help to improve the life of our school. These are the proposals that have emerged in the first two meetings by representatives of the fourth and fifth classes.

�D����������������>�After weeks of hard work and determination, P4 was the first level to

try out the wonderful new sound system recently installed in the Salle

Polyvalente and perform their Christmas Concert. Everyone's nerves

were slightly on edge but P4 entertained the audience with an eclectic

mix of traditional and modern dance, music from across the continent

and finished with a rousing multi-lingual version of Jingle Bells. All the

children raised their game to put on a fantastic show to kick off the last

school week of the year. Well done everyone and well done the sound

sytem.

P3 had a really colourful Christmas show this year. With all of the children dressed in seasonal red and white colours there was a party atmosphere with lots of collaboration between classes. For example two sets of Francophone classes worked together, with one song also including the voices of the French language 2 students too. The Anglophone class also turned into a backing choir for the energetic Italian performance. Our Dutch class came up with a creative and fun dance to the tune of Jingle Bells. Finally the whole level came together to sing a special medley of fun Christmas songs in five different languages.

The P5 children put on a performance this year that showed that

they know how to celebrate in style! After a multilinugal introductiion

in a packed Salle Ployvalante, our MC, Mr Leloup, got the show on

the road!

We started with P5FRD, who performed a wondeful rendition of

“Ulysse de Ridan,” by Joachim du Bellay. This was followed by a

lively dance number, to the tune of “Kerstmis voor altijd,” the P5NE.

P5FRC then gave us a beautful performance of the Christmas

classic, “L’enfant au tambour,” which really gave us a chance to

listen to thier wonderful voices. The German and Italian section

came togteher again for a brilliant combination of tuned instruments

and voice, singing in both languages and delighting the audience

with thier angelic tones and musical harmonies.

Next, we had the very catchy, “Un monde à changer,” by P5FRB,

who’s rythmic capping had everyone joining in. P5EN, then played

thier recorder medley, which included a collection of familiar and

festive tunes on the recorder, an instrument from Renaissance

times, fitting in with both our DDM and music cirricula.

Our penultimate act was performed by P5FRA, who really im-

pressed with their vocals with the very popular, “Noël ensemble.”

Finally, united in song, the different language sections sung Oh Tan-

nenbaum together. This was a very moving end to a very varied and

fantastic concert!

ents who came and to the children who put on a great show.

�����@�!�4������������A�)�As the last 2 years, our nursery and primary pupils participated in the “Operation ShoeBox”; this is a charity project which provides boxes of supplies such as food and drink for homeless and deprived people in Brussels. Detailed information on the charity can be found on the website www.shoe-box.be

Pupils/Families wishing to participate filled empty shoe-boxes with 7 or 8 items of food and drink and a small greeting card. Volunteers from the Samaritans charity came to school 19th December to collect the boxes. They will then be given out to the homeless and deprived families for Christmas.

This was a great opportunity for our pupils to support and participate in this project and make a difference to the less-fortunate.
