Abstract

“Developing village with a ‘rural soul’ but with all urban amenities that a city may have”

Vishwakarma Yojana is one of the initiatives towards Rurbanization by Government of

Gujarat, which was allotted as a real time situation type project provide to GTU. The

students and Faculty Members meet all the citizen of a village, survey the existing facilities.

Then they re-imagine and design the whole of the infrastructure of the village. The students

use their engineering skills to prepare detailed project reports for the infra-structure as a

part of their final year project work. By this project Students are experience a real work and

able apply own technical knowledge on any real problem .This entails hard work, many

students’ visits to the village and do survey on his particular village.

Aim of this Yojana…

1.1 Introduction of Chapter

Vishwakarma Yojana which is one of the best Yojana to approach towards to village

problems by the help from GTU student as final year project part. In impoverished

and undeveloped areas, small amounts of electricity can free large amounts of

human time and labour. The JNN solar mission, Pradhan Mantri Gram Vidyut Yojana

to fasten the pace of electrification and diversify the procedure. The work is also on-

going for reducing wastage, providing better equipment’s and improving the overall

infrastructure for electrical transmissions in villages. There is a wide gap between the

demand and supply of electrical energy. Far away rural areas are having dispersed

loads in nature and hence increased transmission and distribution losses.

1.2 Study justification.

In study justification we conclude that here we found so many problems regarding

village area electrification and also come to another point which not proper

connections for transmission line protection also, this things we conclude after

surveying of village in Gujarat state only.

1.3 Study Area

GTU is allotted to us one village from Gujarat state for surveying which is BED

village nearby Jamnagar district. This village is our study area to find problem

regarding any electrification and provide a sustainable energy sources.

1.4 Objectives of the study

Main objective behind of this study which is how to approach this village with best

facilities and also what problem they are face in this village area. But from our side

observation will be on renewable energy source for this village.

1.5 Scope of the Study

Scope behind this study will be on better to find energy source and also gain so

many things regarding. The subject matter or the scope of rural development is not

narrow as revealed by the definitions, particular in country when large number of

population so rural sociology has been changing from time to time.

2.1 Electricity in village

When we are think on make a good infrastructure at that time electricity is in the

major role because without electrical energy we can’t do anything innovative.

Figure 1: transformer lines

We had seen here total 5 to 6 transformers which has been working in good

condition but it maintenances and looking way is too much which is not good and

adequate for village citizen.

Figure 2: Village power lines

Rural electrification is the process of which is provide electricity to rural areas.

Electricity is not only use for lighting and homework purposes, but it also use in many

farming operations, such as making ,hoisting of gain and also threating for storage

One of the least expensive, most reliable, and best proven electricity distribution

systems for rural electrification is single wire earth system This system is widely

used in countries such which has low population densities. There are some

geographical requirements necessary for its use. The basic infrastructure such as

distribution transformer and lines is made available in the not proper locality within

the range of the village. Any of the public places like Panchayt office, schools HC,

community hall has availability of power supply on demand .The ratings of

distribution transformer and LT lines to be provided in the village would be finalized

as per the anticipated number of connections decided in consultation with the

Panchayt and Zila District Administration who will also issue the necessary certificate

of village electrification on completion of the works.

Figure 3: Profile of electrical appliance of rural consumer

2.2 Government Norms (Rules & Regulations)

As per government rules and regulation they are provide 24 hours electricity supply

for domestic as well as commercial area of village. For agriculture total 8 hours

electricity provide by government sector (PGVCL).this supply is given to only for

agriculture areas and in this time farmers are doing own work for village irrigation

system. 24 hours Electricity supply is given for government school building and also

for hospitals. Road/street lights are controlling by only Gujarat Electricity Board

(GEB).

POWER SUPPLY FOR BED VILLAGE (HOURS)

HOURS

Figure 4 : Power supply for bed village

2.3 Issues identification

Don’t have any issues with electricity supply for this village but here we had seen

useless use of light is more it means government street lights etc. in morning hours

also all the government street lights are on so this is disadvantage of wastage supply

of electricity and also no any renewable source for this village is available recently

Figure 5: useless energy from street light

2.4 Approach So Far (Government Schemes, Projects implemented for village

Development especially for electricity supply or renewable energy)

No any government schemes is working in this village for renewable electricity

except Joyti “Gram Vikas Yojana”.

So for that we think on this point in direction of renewable electricity for this village

we make one solar micro - grid which provide an electricity supply agricultural for this

village.

3.1 Study Area Location

Here we are working with this Yojana so our study profile directly connect with our

village are profile it means how much amount of facilities required for village are

citizens. Main objective behind the study area profile it will energy auditing at that

particular village. In this village major occupations is depend upon the Transportation

work. Transportation is major business of this village.

4.3 Secondary Survey Details

In secondary survey we have to find final data collection on which particular object

we will work and also think in renewable sources and solar electrification

implementation.

Also we found here around 250nos. Municipal Street light.

And also work on energy audit side it means collect data on good electrification

system, how to reduce energy consumption per year and month.

4.4 Data Presentation

In data presentation here we mention all data which is show all type of street light

like CFL and LED, how much power consume by Particular Street light model

specification. All street light model manufacturing by Tata power solar.

Other data selection is for infrastructure bases which we have to found from Techno

economy survey.

5.1 Design Selections

We have to decide this selection after Techno economy survey

1) Solar water pump.

For design selection we are trying to implement solar pump motor for pumping the

water for overhead tank and underground tank. This tank is around 60.000 lit.

Capacity and provide water supply to whole village every day.

Figure 14 : 60000 litre capacity water tank

2) Solar Street light / LED & CFL Street light. [3]/ [4]

After surveying we have to found no solar implementing source are there in the

village here around 250nos. street light working on electricity power if we replace it

by LED or CFL then per year playback we get as per below mention specification.
