General introduction

Overview

With the API Marine LNG/CTS solution, you will be able to measure level (primary and secondary), pressure, temperature (in multiple levels), as well as provide alarm indication for level (high and low-level alarms).

The API Marine LNG/CTS solution is suitable for small and medium scale LNG vessels, LNG Bunker vessels, LNG Feeders and FSRU’s. In addition to applications, where CTS is required - the API solution is suitable for LNG Fuel Gas Solutions (FGSS). The API Marine LNG/CTS can be supplied as a stand-alone solution, and as well is interfaceable system to most integrated automation systems (IAS).

API Marine LNG/CTS solutions consist of a highly advanced set of reliable sensors, packed with unique features, providing the user with the possibility of controlling all the main parameters in the LNG fuel tank with unrivalled results.

The solution utilizes cutting-edge patented inhouse technology in level measurement sensors and level switching, allowing stable and accurate readings in low media temperatures, reaching down to -200°C. API Marine LNG/CTS solution is essentially a tool to measure volume of LNG transferred, and subsequently use this measured volume as the official accounting document between supplier and receiver.

General system information

The TGD-L™ level sensor is a non-contact level gauge that has been developed for measuring the level of liquefied natural gas, as well as many other liquified applications

TGD-L™ uses the patented principle of Guided Low Frequency GLF™ wave propagation, which allows for equally precise measurement accuracy along the tank height for any shape of tank and at nearly any conditions in the tank.

To avoid a negative influence from other acoustic signal reflectors in the tank, the acoustic signal is guided in a steel pipe (waveguide) going all the way down to the bottom of the tank. The tank geometry and objects inside the tank, such as ladders, heating pipes, etc., do not affect the signal. Reference points are located along the pipe allowing not only high measurement accuracy all through the tank, but as well for each pulse - based on change of speed of the sound influenced by the gas vapor and composition changes - continuously calibrates the TGD. The waveguide is part of the scope of supply. The pipe is constructed in sections, joined by a set of couplings (joints). The length of each section of pipes varies but have lengths of maximum 1950 mm. Total quantity of sections and coupling are according to the tank height.



TGD-LP™ is a TGD-L™ level sensor with a pressure sensor installed in the same housing. The pressure sensor is used for measuring the tank pressure in the tank. The TGD-LP™ with level gauging device and pressure transmitter combined into one sensor has the advantage of only one deck penetration as well as only one cabling form the combined sensor to the control cabinet/system saving both time and installation cost. TGD-T™ is a high-accuracy multipoint (up to 6 measurement points) temperature sensor, which is specially designed for LNG CTS applications UTS™ Universal Level Switch UTS™ has an extended operating temperatures down to –200°C and is designed for level detection/high level and overfill alarmin LNG cargo tanks. The operating principle of the UTS™ is based on a breakthrough patented acoustic wave technology, providing outstanding results in extreme operating temperatures. The accuracy of measurement is ensured regardless of the shape of the tank, type of liquid or liquid temperature. The UTS™ is installed outside the tank/pipe with only a metal rod inside the tank/pipe. Acoustic waves in the metal rod created by a piezoelectric transducer ensure the transmission of signals. When liquid in the tank reaches the probe on the rod, the emission of sound waves is muffled. All sensors can be easily serviced and maintained from the sensor housing without the necessity to the tank.

CTS and software functions General description The API Marine Cargo Monitoring Software is pre-installed on the operator station and provides userfriendly mimics and an easy access to all relevant data.

Approval and certification Certification The API Marine CTS System shall be certified by independent third parties and authorities such as NKKK, SGS and others. Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) FAT to be carried out at API Marine facility in Denmark or any API Marine designated location attended by relevant authority, and if requested shipowner/shipyard Site Acceptance Test (SAT) SAT to be carried out at location attended by API Marine technician and relevant authority.

Commissioning 2 service technicians for termination, set-up and commissioning for a period of 5 working days.
