Dr. Largo, erklären Sie uns bitte, wie das Leukerbadner Thermalwasser entsteht.Östlich von Leukerbad, zwischen Majing und Torrenthorn, versickert Niederschlagswasser. Es dringt bis ca. 500 m unter den Meeresspiegel ins Gebirge ein. Mittels Messungen stellte man fest, dass es sich dort über 40 Jahre mit Mineralien sättigt, bevor es als Thermalwasser infolge der Erwärmung natürlich ans Tageslicht gelangt. In Leukerbad zählt man ca. 65 Quellen, die in acht Quellgruppen erfasst sind. Mit täglich 3,9 Mio. Liter bis zu 51° C warmem Thermalwasser weist Leukerbad somit das grösste natürliche Thermal-wasservorkommen Europas auf.

Welche gesundheitlichen Wirkungen kann man sich vom Leukerbadner Thermalwasser erhoffen?Vor allem die chemische Wirkung des Leuker badner Thermalwassers ist balneologisch interessant, da sie sich zu anderen Thermalwassern unter scheidet. Die Quellen in Leukerbad enthalten vorwiegend Calciumsulfatmineralien, sprich Gips. Warme Gipsbäder lindern rheumatologische wie neuro-logische Leiden und helfen nach Unfallfolgen. Getrunken wirkt das Gipswasser auch harntreibend und gegen Verstopfung.

Dr. Largo, expliquez-nous s’il vous plaît com-ment l’eau thermale de Loèche-les-Bains se forme.L’eau des précipitations s’infiltre dans le sol à l’est de Loèche-les-Bains, entre Majing et Torrenthorn. Elle pénètre dans la montagne jusqu’à env. 500 m en-dessous du niveau de la mer. Nous avons pu constater au moyen de mesures qu’elle s’enrichit en minéraux durant plus de 40 ans, avant de rejaillir à la lumière sous forme d’eau thermale suite à un réchauffement naturel. Nous dénom-brons à Loèche-les-Bains env. 65 sources, répar-ties en huit groupes. Avec quotidiennement 3,9 mio. de litres d’eau thermale jusqu’à 51ºC, Loèche-les-Bains possède le plus important gisement d’eau thermale naturelle d’Europe.

Quels effets pour la santé pouvons-nous espé-rer de l’eau thermale de Loèche-les-Bains ? Avant tout, l’eau thermale de Loèche-les-Bains est balnéologiquement intéressante et se différencie des autres eaux thermales par sa composition chimique. Les sources de Loèche-les-Bains con-tiennent d’importantes quantités de sulfate de calcium, c‘est-à-dire du gypse. Les bains chauds de gypse soulagent les douleurs rhumatologiques et neurologiques et aident la convalescence à la suite d’un accident. Boire de l’eau avec du gypse agit sur le plan diurétique et contre la constipation.

Dr Largo, please tell us how the thermal springs of Leukerbad are formed.East of Leukerbad between Majing and Torrenthorn, rainwater seeps into the mountain ground and penetrates down to 500 meters below sea level. There, determined by measurements, it is satura-ted with minerals for over 40 years before it reaches the light of day as natural hot spring thermal waters. Leukerbad has roundabout 65 sources that are registered into 8 different spring groups. With a daily flow of 3.9 million liters of up to 51°C (123.8°F) water, Leukerbad is the largest natural thermal spring region in Europe.

What kind of health benefits can one expect from the Leukerbad’s thermal springs?Most notably, the chemical effect of Leukerbad’s thermal waters is of balneological interest as that’s what separates it from other thermal springs. The springs in Leukerbad predominantly contain calcium sulfate minerals – like in plaster. Warm plaster baths alleviate rheumatological and neu-rological afflictions and help heal from the effects of accidents. When the plaster water is consumed, it acts as a diuretic and helps relieve constipation.

ENDr Louis Largo was the baths doctor from 1992 to 2011. As co-founder of the ther-mal springs guild in Leukerbad and co -author of the book «Spas in Valais», he is very familiar with the thermal waters of Leukerbad.

Dottor Largo, ci spieghi per favore come si forma l’acqua termale di Leukerbad.La pioggia scola all’est di Leukerbad, tra Majing e il Torrenthorn. L’acqua penetra la montagna arrivando fino a 500 m sotto livello marinaro. Grazie a delle misurazioni, si ha scoperto che l’acqua ci sta oltre quaranta anni, si satura con le minerali e, causa il riscaldamento, sorge natu-ralmente. A Leukerbad ci sono circa 65 sorgenti calde che sono catturati in otto gruppi. Con 3.9 milioni litri d’acqua termale al giorno fino a 51°C, Leukerbad è il posto con più acqua termale naturale d’Europa.

Quali sono gli effetti salutari che ci si può aspettare dall’acqua termale di Leukerbad?La composizione chimica dell’acqua termale di Leukerbad è interessante e cambia molto in con-fronto ad altre acque termali. Le sorgenti di Leukerbad contengono principalmente calcio solfato, vuol dire gesso. I bagni caldi con il gesso allievano dolori reumatologici e neurologici e aiutano ai postumi d’incidenti. Se è bevuta, l’acqua con il gesso ha un effetto diuretico ed ha un contributo contro la stitichezza.

ITIl dottore medico Louis Largo praticava dal 1992 al 2011 a Leukerbad. Come co-fondatore della corporazione delle sorgenti termali Leukerbad e co-autore del libretto «Terme nel Vallese» conosce ottimamente l’acqua termale di Leukerbad.
