Bayley played with her bathing suit strap, frustrated that it wassitting somewhat tightly on her shoulder. She played with it, asif trying to loosen it further, which would make sense if it wasn'ta hook-up back. Frustrated, she stomped down to the river, chewing angrily at a soft pretzel.

Finally reaching the warm, muddy-slash-rocky bank, Bayleywatched the water flow by in frustration. Rivers had such easylives. They could go wherever they like, have as much water asthey wanted... while she had to watch her diet so that shedidn't break one fourty. Frowning, she laid out her towel andfingered her long, thin t-shirt. Should she take it off ? She wasslightly insecure about her weight, and her little pudge bellybothered her more than anything.

She looked about, nervously. No one to the left, no one to theright.

Alright, let's make the most of this.

Throwing off her t-shirt, she dove into the river, and slowlyfloated upward, paddling steadily so that she didn't go far.

The river tugged gently at her limbs, and she liked the feelingof the resistance her momentum and the river's put to eachother. It was like a steady wind blowing under her arms, butthicker, more... there.

Whered that Xaire forsaken wyvern get to? She was trying, again, to get Roraldi to hunt. He was getting better but damnherself if she couldnt find him when they went out hunting.Looking to the tree line along the river the little girl had towonder if that was a good or bad thing. Good in that hecamouflaged bad in that he... camouflaged.

He was growing fast, his shoulders almost level with her own.Soon she wouldnt be able to use force to get him to obey...

Actually she never REALLY cold, but eventually hed figure hecould take her on and... Well that day was going to suck...Hard.As she walked she worried about how she was going to keep

him. He couldnt stay in her room when he was full grown, heck,he could barely fit now. Maybe if she put the commission of Mousses milk towards keeping him in a stall... Alice shook herhead, no she couldnt do that, could she? Roraldi was anintelligent creature, not a beast of burden like the mehdayri. Heat least deserved the floor of a heated room with some pillowsor blankets, right? Zed landed on her shoulder quite suddenly,

chirping softly and nuzzling her as he sensed her strange mix of emotions. Why was his bonded doing that thinking thing?

As Alice wondered and wandered and Zed tried to keep Alicefrom thinking Roraldi was making his way through the forest, one much like the one he was named after. He didnt fly (he wastrying to learn, but was having a lot more difficulty then theaverage wyvern) but instead walked the hunched walk of awyvern before finally crouching, using his wings almost ashands as he went about searching for lunch.

He was a rather silent stalker, as far as wyvern went and sincehe was more often on the ground then in the air hed reallylearned to walk with some form of stealth. Still, nothing in thesun dappled woods here seemed to be around. The birds sangbut the rustling of the bushes was far away and getting further. They all knew he was here; probably Alices fault. With an annoyed snort the wyvern turned away from the woodsand towards the river. When out of luck theres always fish.

When he got to the river, though, he noticed a soft, pink thingfloating in it not to far down stream. Was that a fish? It seemedpretty at home, there in the water like that and pretty... welllong, at least. It wasnt like... super meaty but decent, youknow? Not a meal Roraldi was going to pass up for being tooskinny and bo ney.Laying low Roraldi slipped into the water, forest green hide

looking dark and grey-green under the water. He kept his headup above the waterline and kept to the shallows and walked. Asfar as the wyvern knew he could not swim and wouldnt berisking this delicious meal to test it out. So he walked, waterrushing past him and propelling him along towards Bayley.

(( Roraldi is great for Alices first introductions. >P> Durnsurious, evil Roraldi. Zeds and Roraldis descriptions can befound on my profile and thread tracker. X3 ))

Bayley worked her arms, enjoying the feeling of cool waterrunning over her skin and tugging at her brown hair. Shesquinted into the water, her eyes open just enough to stare atthe picturesque vision that was in front of her-- the long, rambling river with the sun hitting it, making it sparkle, alongwith some trees dotted around nearby, and the lush grass... shesighed in content, the bubbles that came from her mouthtickling the spot of skin between her lips and nose.

It was then she noticed something in her peripherals. At least, she thought she did. She glanced over towards the greenish-brown blob that seemed to be floating towards her. Hmm... it

was probably just a wave. The water was fairly greenish. Shedoubted it was anything to worry about; it was algae at theworst.

Uninterested by the thing floating towards her, she keptpumping her legs and arms, but slowly, deliberately; it turnedout the river was slower than she realized. She had been able to

look at her bag and towel before, but now it was closer to herfeet, which she tried not to raise out of the water, afraid of kicking the wetness all over her things and soaking them. Shelet herself slow, and it tired her quickly.

Standing, she surveyed the river once more, spotting thatbrown-green blob again. What could it be? Hrmph, she couldn'ttell. Well, she'd just have to get in its way to find out what itwas, eh? She waded over to the side of the river, careful to stayin the water so that it came up to the bottom of her ribcage. She reached into her bag and grabbed herself another softpretzel to munch on. That swimming had made her hungry.

Roraldi blinked soft brown eyes as he made his way closer, pearly whites just below the surface but his nose above water. He didnt want to drown!

When the pink fish stood Roraldi almost lost his balance as he jumped back. He would have probably made a big show of flailing around but the water was heavy enough andcumbersome enough to keep himself from drawing attention. Itwas a naked humanoid thing. Oh, no, correction mostly naked. She had on some outfit that was stupid and pointless, like mosthuman clothing.

He didnt stop as his simple mind thought about what he shoulddo. The pink fish was now a pink humanoid which meant hewasnt allowed to eat it. Maybe the pink humanoid was really apink fish PRETENDING to be a humanoid so he wouldnt eat it?It was a good enough excuse for Roraldi as he continued hisadvance. When the pink thing moved into he was close enoughto make out hair colour and the bathing suit in question. Yup,

useless. Why did humans wear clothes? It was rarely armouredand this was not keeping the pink-fish-human warm so whyWEAR it? He was close enough that the girl (it looked sort of like Alice, chest wise but bigger) wouldnt be able to get awayso he stood up straighter in the water, shoulders breaching thewater as his neck came up, large head sitting atop his neck. Hisstrong jaw muscles were clear do to the pulled-back look of theskin around his mouth which also forced his teeth into view atall times. He was a rather terrifying sight to behold in allhonestly even if he was, body wise, rather boney and awkward. His body that of a teenage wyvern.

He opened his jaws and hissed. Lunch ti- RORALDI! Alice yelled, her shout a mix of anger and fear;mostly fear.Roraldi stopped, looking a bit flustered before trying to loweringhimself back into the water and, apparently, disappear from

view. Get yer SCALY butt up HERE! There was a little girl, sometwenty feet behind Bayley pointing at the ground by her feet,

    NOW!

Alice had been walking around the rivers side, keeping awayfrom the water as Zed sang happily to her when shed seen the

girl and... Roraldi. Shed been pretty far and had had to run thewhole way just to get to where she was. She couldnt believethis. How many times had Alice told the wyvern people were notfor eating!?From this distance, still mostly underwater, Roraldi sent Aliceand Bayley an image of a pink fish floating in the water, thatthen stood up and turned into... Bayley.See? He was just hunting a transforming fish. So really hewasnt doing anything wrong.

Shes not a fish! Alice yelled, the kallo on her shoulder hissingangrily at Roraldi who was slowly slinking out of the river andonto the shore near the other stranger-girls things.

Bayley raised her arms above her head and massaged her head, pulling and combing and trying to get the ugly brown mess intoa ponytail. She should have done it before she went into thewater, but no. It was then that she turned-- and saw a verylarge green dragon-y thing.

    "HOLY SH--!"

She stopped short when she heard the girl behind her. Turningquickly, she stared at the twelve year old, a Faedragon on hershoulder and a Wyvern at her command. Splashing out of theway, she climbed out of the river and grabbed her towel, wrapping it around her in embarassment. "Oh gosh, I didn'tknow you were here..." she muttered, her eyes a bit wildlooking. She was freaked out by the Wyvern, for one, andthese... things were staring at her!

Suddenly an image of pink fish turning into her entered hermind. Not used to the contact, she stiffened. "He thought I was

a fish?!" she exclaimed, looking back at him and then at Alice."And who're you, if you don't mind me asking? As your Wyverndoesn't seem one for... introductions." she asked, taking a largebite out of her pretzel. Alright, try not to get pissed off at thekid... she's only twelve or so... I think... Bayley said to herself, taking another angry mouthful of the doughy goodness. Be nice.

"Would you like a pretzel?" she asked. She had three more inher bag, along with a full lunch for one person, but it couldeasily feed three. She was not losing those pounds easily, letme tell you.

Roraldi sniffed curiously at the girls bag and only just kept fromnomming her arm when she went for the pretzel. Alice would bemad if he ate the fish-lady. If his bonded wasnt here well,

Bayley would have been this wyverns lunch. Instead he justhuddled low to the ground, try to look apologetic and sad butinstead coming of looking... Well sad but the barred teeth madehim look closer to angry.

Alice, meanwhile, was coming down to meet Bayley and properlywatch her wyvern, apologizing the whole way.

Imsosorry! She gasped, stopping at Roraldi, WewereouthuntingandsoIhaveto lethimgodothat, Zed twittered, also seemingly apologetic as he fed off of his bondeds emotions. He hopped onto Bayleys shoulders, feeling the suppressedanger. He whistled a long, sad note. So sorry...

Hesjustcurious and... hungry. Im sorry. Alice l ooked almostsick. This stupid wyvern would be the death of her; or, worse, somebody else. Shed never be able to live with herself inRoraldi did more than scare others.

While Alice apologized Roraldi stretched his neck out, wigglingforward to try a nd hunt down the pretzel Bayley had offeredAlice. Being rather in tune to her bonded she turned to Roraldiwho pulled his neck in close before tentatively projecting arather vague and crude image of a pretzel. They were rathernew to him so he really wasnt sure how to make it look.

No treats for you, Roraldi. Bad wyvern, back off!

He did as commanded and stayed curled up, leaving Alice free

to talk. Sorry... Again... Stupid, stupid wyvern, Um... Im Alice. Imreally sorry to have bothered you. Uh... The wyvern is Roraldi, she turned, And he is VERY BAD!

Roraldi made the wyvern equivalent to a whine as he stretchedhis wings over his face.

And the ka llo is name d Zed. He li kes to sing, mostly. Zed! Cried the Kallo shrilly, opening one wing and sort of posing. Yes, he was the great Zed, master of song and dance!

Bayley jumped as Zed climbed onto her shoulders, slightlyhorrified. He was a weight on her shoulders, for sure. She wassurprised-- she hadn't expected them to weight that much. Huh.

Bayley handed over the pretzel and patted her shoulder. "Ah,it's okay. Sorry... I kind of lost my temper myself. I'm Bayley,Alice. Nice to meet you." she said with a smile.

After the announcements of their names, Bayley stared atRoraldi curiously. "Hm, Roraldi, huh? That sounds familiar...huh. Probably something someone said somewhere. No matter."

she said with a smile. Looking at Zed and Roraldi, Bayley wassurprised-- for a young kid, she'd gotten what Bayley couldn'thope to have any time soon.

"Was it hard?" she asked, taking another bite of her pretzel.Thinking of Zed, she broke off a piece and offered it to him, careful to sneak it so that Roraldi didn't notice. She didn't want

to upset him; he was probably upset enough already. "Youknow, bonding with them?" she asked. Bayley had not yetgotten a chance to join in on a bonding, but she was trying. Butapparently not hard enough, as she still didn't have creatures.

"How long have you been here?" she asked. "Sorry if that's alittle forward, but most people don't seem to be born... here...odd place, isn't it?" she asked. "I was supposed to be lookingfor my parents, but... I'm coming up on all dead ends. I mean,I'm no detective, but I've read enough books to assume simplemysteries. I didn't think this would be that hard. But apparentlyit is."

The faedragon, being a creature of emotions, quickly picked upon her horror and took off after introductions before landing, orrather crashing, into Alices chest before scrambling onto hershoulder and ducking his head miserably. He took the offered bitof pretzel when offered but made sure not to touch the othergirl. Didnt want anyone being scared...He remained sulkily perched on Alices shoulder.

Alice picked up on it but considering nothing had happened (asfar as she could tell, anyway) she figured it was amisunderstanding and it would probably sort itself out.

Its nice meeting you as well, Alice said, fidgeting slightly.Politeness could be so hard sometimes but Sootkin was teachingher to be better and it was HER bonded that had caused trouble,

Im really sorry about him, hes pretty wild... His name suitshim on so many levels... Uh, its the name of the forest near myold home on my old planet, actually. She couldnt help but perk up a bit, had this girl heard of Evelon?

Was it...? Oh, nope! It just... sort of happened, I guess, Alicelaughed which perked Zed up almost instantly, I met Zed whilewalking in the woods. I was being attacked for no reason by thisother ladys bonded unicorn and this little guy came zipping outof nowhere and straight into me. Apparently he wanted to saveme, or something. Isnt that right, Zed?

With the spotlight on him Zed seemed happy enough as hesquirmed happily on Alices shoulder, Righ! He warbled, twittering out a Here he comes to save the day!. This Kallo wasfull of songs, most Alice had taught him but some from beforetheyd ever met and some from other Isnitians (specifically,Keinee).

Brave... He cooed, nuzzling Alices cheek. That was for both of them since theyd both saved one another from the evil unicorn(when in fact it was Sootkins careful words that had saved both

of them and the fact that the unicorn didnt want her bondedseeing blood).

Roraldi slunk his way towards Alices side, nudging her hip withhis snout and sending a mental image for pats. Please ohplease?Alice smiled at him, petting his head, And this guy I got from

the stall. Ummm... I blame his egg being dropped for his...strangeness. Alice frowned, It wasnt my fault. But yah... Itsactually pretty good... compared to other wyvern.

How long had she been here for? She wasnt really keepingtrack but...

Maybe a couple of months... Im terrible with time, actually...And you? I mean... were you born here or...? Maybe she wasntfrom Evelon. If she was looking for her parents here, on thisworld then she was probably born here.

Did the PIF do something to your parents?

Bayley laughed at Zed's little songs. "Aww, he's so adorable!"Bayley chirped, smiling broadly. She was feeling slightly betternow; the mood had lifted and she felt more comfortable aroundthis girl and her bonded creatures.

"Dropped?" Bayley wondered aloud, looking down at theWyvern. "Poor guy." she said, the corners of her mouth droopingslightly.

"Well, I've only been here a couple weeks. First time out andabout around here, really." she said, her attention taken awayfrom Roraldi for the moment. "Oh, born here? No, but you'dthink I was. Huh, maybe I was. I'm not exactly sure. See... myparents..."

What was she going to tell Alice? That her parents didn't wanther and were probably trying to run from her rather thancontact her? That she had some weird great aunt donating toher search even though the only thing she had to work off of that would say she was her aunt was an old picture? That she

was raised by wood nymphs on another planet?

"They were... dispatched... and got... caught up... in the...what'dyacallit? PIF. Yeah. And they managed to get somecommunications out to me... on my home planet... so I found away here... and now I'm here. And I can't find them...?"

    Yeah, that sounded believable.

"You probably don't believe that, do you?" she asked sheepishly, opening up her bag and pulling out her t-shirt.

Roraldi happily lapped up the attention, nudging Bayleys handfor pats (while also sniffing, she smelled okay. Maybe he couldget a nibble when Alice wasnt looking...) , scales and teethagainst her palm, cold and still a bit wet from the water.

Yah the PIF is weird... You dont know where you were born?So... you didnt know your parents or something? This wasquite an interesting story, if hard to understand, So youre notfrom Planet, but you might be. And you got here and are lookingfor your parents? Whoa, what are the chances... Alice had no reason not to believe Bayley, and shed seen andheard weirder things since shed arrived and even before shearrived on this planet.

How did you get here? Alice asked, suddenly very interested, Do you think you could go back? Or even go someplace else?

Would it be possible to go home? Zed perked up and startingshaking with excitement and anticipation, chirping quickly andsharply. What had Alice so excited? When Alice was asked if she believed that only then did shewonder if Bayley was telling the truth, made obvious by herfrown and Zeds sudden lack of excitement.

    Why wouldnt I believe that?

    BayleyO p a q u e Vi l l a g e r

    5 Apr 2010, 3:02am

Bayley's heart broke at Alice's excitement. How could sheanswer this sweet little girl without hurting her feelings? Shebarely knew anything about herself; how was she supposed toknow things about this large, mysterious Planet? "Uhm... well,see..."

Bayley paused, scuffing her feet in the dirt. She patted Roraldiaimlessly, quietly, before speaking. It tumbled out like awaterfall over a fifty foot cliff before she could stop herself.

"My parents didn't want me; they barely loved each other, Ithink, from what my caregiver told me. They left me with adryad family. I have this weird great aunt living here who I onlyknow from a stupid photograph and I have no idea who myparents are and if they would even want to see me again. Idon't even know if they're together, or here! And it sucks."Bayley said, anger tinting her voice. She stomped her foot, disturbing a few pebbles.

"Porkchop warned me of trying to find my parents... I shouldhave listened to that dumb, stupid dog. ... I miss him.

"And I really have no idea how I got here-- I just sort of...drove, I guess. Took a walk to the city nearby-- the dryads tryto stay away from civilization, but because I was 'normal', my

caregiver stayed close-- took a bus, then took a car, andsomehow ended up here. I don't think I'm on the same planetanymore. Something wonky, I suppose. I dunno. But I'm herenow, and I'm trying to make the most of it by trying to find my

Her explanation seemed very PIF-ish related and Alice tried notto show her disappointment. Zed was quite willing to do so forher, flopping over the girls shoulder and sighing sadly as hetook in and reflected Alices mood.

Sounds like the PIF randomly snatched you up and brought youhere. Though how it knew your parents or relatives would behere in beyond me... or how they would have even gotten you

    to another planet...

Perhaps there was some controlled way about that Bayleysparents knew about or had but for now neither Bayley nor Alicewould have any idea where or how a technology like that wouldexist.

Well I hope you find your parents, youre lucky to have an aunthere on Isnit, haha. Everyone I knew before Planet is backhome on Evelon. ..

Considering the circumstances post-PIF for Alice it was probablyfor the best that she was here and not back home. What wouldeven happen if she returned to Evelon? Didnt matter, for nowthere was no way back so there was no point worrying.

Wait... whats a dog? Alice asked looking completelyperplexed. Such a simple thing and so many things similar to anEarth dog back home and yet she had nothing to associate thatword with anything back home.

Roraldi nudged Alices hand to get her attention before sendinga image of a wyvern shaped green thing making its waythrough the woods, stalking a piece of meat; an image sharedwith the group.

You can go hunt. No. Eating. Humanoids. Got it?

The overgrown lizard nodded and made a clicking sound with histhroat, the slightly loose skin moving with the sound before

Roraldi moved away, trudging up the bank and towards thewoods. Alice watched but turned her attention back to Bayley. So I guess you havent bonded yet? Alice asked, going back tothe subject. Bayley had asked if it had been hard to do, what itwas like so it seemed unlikely that she had.

Zed, picking up on the general meaning of not having a bondedbroke into song, specifically All the Lonely People by TheBeatles.

"I guess so. I don't know how else I could have gotten to thisplace." Bayley said in response to Alice's mentioning of it mostlikely being the PIF. "Evelon, huh? Where might that be in thisforsaken planetary system? It sounds kinda familiar-- I mighthave family there. But it doesn't ring a loud enough bell, Is'pose."

"A dog? Well, it's sort of like a Tzingani--you have seen one of those, right?-- but, depending on the breed, it could have floppyears or curly hair or be three times the height of a Tzingani.Porkchop just happened to be a bulldog, with brown and whitesplotches and a big pink tongue that didn't stay in his mouth. He wasn't that important to me, but he was one of my onlycompanions, really."

Bayley giggled at Roraldi. "Yes, I 'm pretty sure a humanwouldn't be as unresponsive as me if a Wyvern attempted togive them a nibble. You never know the people around here."

Bayley nodded at Alice's bonding question. "Yeah, I'm kind of alone for right now. I heard about a Tzingani and Dragonbonding, though, and I'm hoping to participate in those soon. I

just came down here to clear my head. I'll probably be stoppingat the Tzingani bonding first, as it's closer."

Overhearing Zed, she sang along quietly, as she recognized thetune. "Yes, all the lonely people... where do they all come from? All the lonely people, where do they all belong? Oh, I wish I hadmy guitar with me. I've been learning their material-- a lot of itis very challenging."

know if Im in the same galaxy anymore... Ah... And I dontthink people on Evelon have family on other planets. I mean... Ithink we have a space program but I dont think weve found lifeon other planets yet... Clearly there was like on other planets, I mean she was ONanother planet and people here, well, so far as she could tellshe was the only one from Evelon.

Alice snapped her fingers,A tali! she said suddenly, Thatsounds like a tali, almost. Or maybe even a lucain... But tali forsure. Or an albie, they look pretty close in a lot of ways. Hearing Bayley signing along Zed started playing clips of songshe knew, mostly The Beatles but some Counting Crows, REM,Abba and Queen tossed in as well. Did she want to sing to anyof these songs? Zed LOVED when people sang. Hed tried beforebut the people spoke too quickly for him!

"Hm... well, maybe some others from Evelon will get pulled hereby the PIF too." she said. "I mean, if you came here, someothers will possibly be able to follow, or at least end up here byaccident, yanno?"

Tali... Lucain? Interesting names for creatures... but as Alicementioned the bondings had already occurred, Bayley f roze. "OhGod." Had she forgotten? She quickly flipped through hermental calendar. No... no, she had to have remembered theright date! "Ohmigosh, I can't believe I've done this again. IcanNOT have missed-- oh wait." Alice mentioned seeing her atthe dragon breeding, and it was then that Bayley remembered.

    "OHHHHHHHHHHHH."

Bayley slapped a hand to her forehead. "Sorry! I'm so forgetfulsometimes. If my head wasn't screwed on..." she said with asmall laugh.

"Anyways, I do remember you. That water dragon was prettydemanding, huh? Though for good reason, I suppose. I mean, Iwouldn't want to dry out either." Bayley said.

Bayley smiled at Zed, who hummed a lot of stuff she knew. Shecaught some Queen... more Beatles... she recognized only a bitof Counting Crows, but she could hear some ABBA in there. "Oh,wow! Zed's pretty into the music stuff, huh?" she asked, humming along with some of the floaty tunes.

Its possible... Alice sighed and frowned. What were thechances that she would even KNOW anyone from Evelon?Though it would be comforting to meet somebody who knewwhat a gyrraptor was and how the dragons here were a lot likehollowhearts and sleepyhearts and and... All the other hearts.

What? Alice actually laughed, sounding a little confused, Youforgot about the bonding? Ah hahaha, yah poor thing er... Wellmaybe I shouldnt say that, they WERE trying to eat me afterall. Her eyes smiled and she shrugged, giggling. What didnt kill youmade you stronger, right? When Zed came up Alice nodded enthusiastically, He stinks attalking but he can carry a tune, right? She asked, gentlyrubbing the underside if his long neck with her pointer finger.

Zed set to purring right away, Riiiigh~ he sighed, lookinghappy and comfortable in this more relaxed mood. Alice was

    Soon enough, soon enough...

Bayley's head jerked towards the sound of the Tzingane'ssqueak. "Oh! Is that... a Tzingane?" she wondered aloud, watching it run in their direction. What could it be runningfrom? She supposed that there were a few predators in theforest, but she didn't know of many who would bother to chase

after Tzingani meals. They didn't have much meat on them, andthey were quick, and tiny. There wasn't much to say, "Hey! Ilook like a pretty good meal!" about a Tzingane.

"Whaduya think is chasing her?" she asked Alice, not taking hereyes off the body. The predator may show themselves soonenough; it would be nice to know what was causing the littlecreature so much distress.

The fog of her mind was cleared as soon as Roraldi camethrough the tree line. Her face (and mood) fell and Zed sighedscooting in close as the fluffy tzingani scooted around, hidingbehind the largest of the group, Bayley. And no, not fat, justolder.Pleasekeephersafethescaledgadjowillgether!

A certain Wyvern would take these words to heart, so you canimagine his delight when he comes upon a whole warren of rabbits, munching away in a small clearing near the river. Whatpoor Roraldi doesn't know is that these rabbits exact a price forhunting them.

When he attempts to bite one, his teeth make their mark, butthe rabbit squeals and dislodges the Agony's grip by kicking himin the face with his powerful back legs. He sends up the alarm, and all of the rabbits retreat to their burrows. Phooey, thinksRoraldi, I only got a taste.

But in fact he's lucky. If he had eaten an entire rabbit, he wouldhave turned into one himself. Having just had a bite, he onlygets a pair of rabbit's ears, sprouting from his head.

Bayley barely began to... b'understand (gah, ran out of alliterations) the little Tzingane kit. She heard "She... not... it"and also snippets of something about a gadjo knowing Wyverns.Unless Bayley was mistaken, the little Tzingane was asking herto teach Alice about Wyverns.

"Oh! Um, I don't exactly have that much experience withWyverns, sorry." Bayley said, smiling that sort of smile you dowhen you can't give someone an adequate answer and you feelbad about it but don't know what to tell them.

"Does that rabbity Wyvern look like Roraldi?"

Alice looked to Bayley and her rather informative look to whichshe replied with a shrug and an awkward smile a: No but itsmore complicated then you might think, at least to me.

She still couldnt quite understand WHY the chavi had decided tobond to her... It didnt make a whole lot of sense, at least not toAlice. But the tzingane had her own reasons and her ownagenda and there wasnt much Alice could do now, the bond wasforged with or without the trinket she owed the fox; it was therein her mind relaying all the energy Weaver had as she hopped

about but she was slowing now, her hops becoming a trot andthat turning to a walk until she curled up at Alices feet.

Sheisverytiredfrombondingsoshewilltakeanapnow.Ifyouneedherjustwakeher. She looked pretty comfy there, afurry throw pillow tossed onto the side of a river. A weird imagethat Alice was actually witnessing but she was about to witnesssomething even stranger then a furry throw pillow.

Indeed the lumbering green lizard was Roraldi but somethingwas... different. He had something furry on his head?

Roraldi... What the heck is on your head? Alice asked, frowning her confusion at him.

Ah ha! Okay there as something on his head! That was a start, apparently his bonded DID have a use. He snapped his teethtogether, click click as he approached, the whole group (Weaverwould have taken it as a dream) received image after image, sofast and so similar that they ran together like a very old fram-by-frame cartoon. It was Roraldi from a third person point of view walking towards what appeared to be a warren of rabbits.

The whole scene from earlier played out, Roraldi biting a rabbit, being kicked in the face and losing his meal before returning toRorladi-vision to see furry brown things in his face. Thevideo/story was followed by a ton of red question marks on ablack background.

Alice, dumbfounded, stared at Roraldi with round eyes, DearYepha, she breathed, You have... rabbit ears... He did, much like the ones belonging to the rabbit hed bitten.Chocolate brown things that stuck out about an inch on eitherside of her head before hanging down and drooping. Down theircenter the there a line of lighter-brown fur. The ears didntmatch him at all and werent something one could hide easily.

Roraldi, being the manly-man wyvern that he was, screamedloudly (waking Weaver) before dashing over to the river to seehis reflection. Alice had to be mistaken, he must have just...scared that dumb brown rabbit onto... his head! Or something. But no, it was true Roraldi had... rabbit ears.

erupt in her thoat. She tried to keep them quiet, for theWyvern's sake. He seemed to have been through enoughalready.

As Weaver mentioned a sign, Bayley frowned. "What would wemake it out of? And Roraldi would have to show us the warren, anyways, and he doesn't exactly look like he'd want to goback..." she said, giggling some more.

From what I can tell, Alice said, patting her ears with herhands as she spoke, Wyvern dont have ears, or they do buttheyre just holes. The outside floppy bits of rabbit ears dontlike... um... process, I guess... They dont process the sound,

just catch it. But youre right, another reason to go into townand ask a doctor about it...

At the mention of it hurting the wyvern snorted and, withoutshowing his face projected an image:Pain of having ears removed < Pain of redicule of having ears.He would suffer through the pain of removal to have them gone. The pain might be great, but it would be fleeting. The woundswould heal and he would be fur-free.

Weaver smiled and yawned,Asforsulkingwyvern, sheissurethetwoofyouwillcomeupwithsomething.Wakeherupwhenyouarereadytogo? Weaver didnt wait for either to reply, promptly curling up andnodding off. Oh bonding had really tuckered her out!

She frowned down at the sleeping tzingane at her feet. Hmmm, not that helpful, was she?

Umm.. Roraldi. Come on, look its not so bad. The wyvern huffed; yah right!

Okay well... A really tough wyvern would be able to walkaround proudly. I mean you survived a run in with the PIF,thats gotta count for something, right? Alice said, tryinganother tactic. The wyvern huffed. No luck.

Any ideas? Alice asked, turning to Bayley, looking for help, We really should try and warn people of that warren. Seemspretty dangerous to me. What if somebody was out huntingrabbits and just turned into one?

Bayley watched in vain as Alice tried to convince Roraldi of hisnew appendages resting cutely on his scaly head. As Alice ranout of material, Bayley chimed in with, "You know... the girlWyverns... I bet they'd think that they're cute? I guess? And...and they make you look like you have hair! That's a plus, eh?Eh?" she said, smiling and raising her eyebrows.

She doubted he would find these acceptable reasons. She sighedand turned back to Alice, who was asking more about thewarren.

"Well... I might have left a marker in my bag, but I don't haveanything we could write on..." she said, frowning. There had tobe something they could use.

"Why don't we see what the warren looks like first and seewhere people would most likely enter, and decide from there

Clearly Bayley knew NOTHING of female wyvern! They wantedscary, terrifying, strong... Not cute and cuddly. And whatwyvern had HAIR!?Her attempt at trying to be helpful did more harm then good,Alice wincing as he relayed images of all the wyvern laughing athim and his goofy ears, and people and SHAFA. Pathetic tinyexploding shafa would laugh at a Wyvern! Oh woe is he...

Hey... Roraldi look... Alice opened her bag and started digging

around. She usually brought... Oh! Here!A cloth or red and white checkers was pulled from her bag. Itwasnt very big, a picnic blanket for one, really. Thats exactlywhat it was, but Alice would turn it into something better. ForRoraldi.

Here, get up you souk. Look for now well hide them.

With one foot she nudged his wing out of the way, crouchingdown to see his face and his adorable, floppy rabbit ears.

Hold still and... HEY! Dont you bite me! She scolded, Roraldikeening miserably while trying to wiggle away. She managed totie the cloth , rearranging the blanket so it hid his ears. Grantedhe looked a bit like an old woman but, At least the ears arecovered. You have to accept that thats the best I can-WITHOUT cutting off the ears myself, Roraldi. Im not doing it! Alice said, stomping one foot. The agony looked away then; footstomping meant that Alice was serious about it.

He got up then, trying his best to look confident, the blanketcovering his ears, his sail and the back of his neck, movingslightly in the breeze.

Zed chattered off some rather heroic tune and Roraldi seemedto feel a bit better now.

Alright then... Can we see the warren, Roraldi? Alice asked, really hoping that the group wouldnt laugh at Roraldi and hisold woman look, at least not until they got to the warren.

He started walking in the direction hed come and Alice tookthat as a yes so she quickly got her things together, her littlekallo landing on Weaver singing Good Day Sunshine. Thenewly bonded stirred, getting up slowly.

Wearegoingthen? she asked with a yawn, her upper half stretching out so she was low to the ground, front pawsstretching out, kneading the air as she stretched.

I think so. A marker would be good, I think, Alice said toBayleys suggestion, You should bring it along. Or maybe eventake all your stuff. Wouldnt want to PIF showing up and doingsomething with it, right?

Bayley watched as the cloth was tied over Roraldi's poor ears.Looking somewhat happier, Roraldi didn't seem to mind the clothas much as Bayley figured he would. Though, if it was covering

his now embarrassing ears, and he seemed to dislike those morethan how ridiculous he looked now.

Bayley waited patiently as Alice managed to coax Roraldi todirect them to the warren. Her two bonded followed, and theywere off.

"Oh, I probably should take all my stuff..." Bayley said, quicklyshoving her towel into her bag and putting on a t-shirt andshorts. Slipping on her bright blue Converse, her purple shirt(which depicted her favorite cartoon character, CatDog) stuck toher still slightly wet skin.

Shouldering her backpack, she turned and started to trot withthe group, keeping a steady pace with the younger girl.

"So... how old are you, exactly? And how'd you get here?"

She didnt want to leave her new... erm, friend? Yah, friend, behind so Alice stopped to wailt, Roraldi sending images of impatience in her direction.

Hold yer cavallion, Roraldi. Oh my Xaire... Just a moment agoyou didnt even WANT to go!

Now that hed gained temporary confidence Roraldi wanted tosee these rabbits again. He wondered if he could kick them andget away with not sprouting anymore rabbit parts. It was acurious thought but one even the overly curious Roraldi wouldnttempt... probably.

Once Bayley had caught up Alice started walking again, theirpace evening out as the followed Roraldi along the river bank.River on the left, trees on the right.

Oh um... I was PIFed here, like you were.. I think you were,anyway... Her story still seemed pretty confusing, as did theyoung womans home world in general.

And Im 12 years old and perfectly human too. Umm... You arehuman too, right? How old are you, exactly? A lot of peopleLOOKED human here but then theyd suddenly be... not ashuman as they were before. Or have some weird magicalabilities or... other such strange things.

Zed had remained with weaver, hitching a ride on her back. Thechavi was getting increasingly irritated with the hitch hiker onher back, she also just wanted to sleep which lead her to ask.

Couldyoucarryher, please? Shewouldliketosleep, please. The little tzingane wasnt asking anyone in particular, justanyone who wanted to though she did seem to be lookingtowards Bayley, as she was the older of the two who could carry
