coMpliMentary wireless internet serviceWe’re proud to offer complimentary Internet access in our Panorama lounges, aboard virtually all of our trains, and in select stations in the Québec City – Windsor corridor.

VIA Rail is currently studying the implementation of a new wireless on-train broadband service capable of delivering high-speed Internet access, and plans to introduce it by the fall of 2010. During the transition to the new system, current on-board Wi-Fi connectivity is being improved with the use of the latest mobile network interfaces for all Internet communications, and the replacement and repair of any faulty components.

SPECiFiCATiONSAll you need is a wireless-enabled laptop or handheld device with the Wi-Fi switch in the “on” position. VIA’s partner uses the 802.11g norm. If necessary, you can do a quick upgrade by PCMCIA card.

HOW TO CONNECTConnecting to VIA Rail Wi-Fi service is as easy as going online from your local coffee shop.

1. Turn on your wireless-enabled laptop or handheld device, such as an Intel® Centrino® mobile technology-based laptop. The Wi-Fi icon will appear at the bottom right-hand side of your screen.

2. Launch your preferred web browser.

3. Set your SSiD (Service Set Identifier) to ‘‘ViA_Station’’ or ‘‘ViA_Train.’’
