What is EP System?

It is a modular steel formwork for cast in situ tunnel lining. The shutter is similar to a

conventional one, with casting pipes, inspection hatches, vices for vibrators

installation, walkways, etc…but made of modulus of standard size that can be

assembled all together to fit different tunnel section profiles.

Which tunnel profiles?

The shutter is designed to perfectly match the profile of a circular tunnel section with

a radius of 5,80 m, but the system can be easily adapted to a full range of sections

from a minimum theoretical radius of 4,30 m up to a maximum theoretical radius of

8,90 m.

Deviations: mostly lower than 5 mm - Maximum 20 mm locally.

The average deviation from the theoretical profile is lower than 10 mm.



Versatility – How does it work?



Main features:

Skin 10 mm thick (conventionally is 8 mm only).

The side elements of each modulus are thicker and more strength than a

conventional shutter.

Special connection between elements allows to keep the right shape (according to

the tunnel profile) during the erection and to transfer the strengths correctly.

Modular design higher versatility.



Benefits:

The 10mm thick skin and the high robustness of the equipment permit more than

thousand of reuses maintaining the high quality of the cast.

The same shutter is not designed for a single tunnel but it can be used in different

tunnels of the same job-site and/or in different projects.

The SAME shutter can be used in self-reacting configuration as well as with

anchorages at the bottom.

The position of working platforms can be adjusted each time as per own

convenience.

All these modifications are carried out without cutting & welding works but simply

bolting the original elements. No additional cost for refurbishment.

The equipment is made of standard modulus of appropriate dimensions and

shape that can be quickly and properly handled, saving time and space and

consequently having costs reduction for:

o LOADING,

o TRANSPORT,

o STORAGE.

TRANSPORT: because the modulus have the right size to properly fit the length

and the width of trucks/containers.

STORAGE: a smaller area for stocking is requested because the modulus have

the right size and shape for saving space when stacked.
