QUI SOMMES-NOUS ? NOTRE HISTOIREL’IFMA(InstitutFrançaisdeMécaniqueAvancée)aétécrééen1991avecl’aidede nombreux partenaires industrielsqui sontà l’originede laFondationdenotre école. L’IFMA joue un rôle clé dans l’enseignement des sciences et des techniquesquipermettent lacon-ception, la construction et la gestion desystèmesmécaniquesavancés,pro-duits et services.

L’ENSCCF(EcoleNationaleSupérieurede Chimie de Clermont-Ferrand) estl’une des plus anciennes institutions pour étudier la Chimie en France. Fondée en 1908, elle a formé depuis de nombreuxchercheursetchimistes.

Enjanvier2016lesdeuxécolesontfu-sionné pour former la première écoled’ingénieurs mêlant la chimie et la mé-canique. Le nom de la nouvelle écoleest SIGMA Clermont.

POURQUOI SIGMA CLERMONT ? Le nom SIGMA Clermont n’est pas un acronyme mais incarne une somme de valeurs et la pluralité des compétences recherchées par la nouvelle école issue de la fusion entre l’école de chimie de Clermont-Ferrand (ENSCCF) et l’In-stitut Français deMécanique Avancée(IFMA).

Venir étudier à SIGMA Clermont, c’est intégrer une école innovante, avec des équipements de haute technologie ettoujours en interaction avec des inter-locuteurs du monde socio-économi-que.

COMMENT INTÉGRER SIGMA ?

FORMATION DIPLÔMANTEIl existe diverses possibilités si voussouhaitez nous rejoindre pour desétudesdiplômantes:vouspouvezpos-tuler librement ou via des programmes comme FITEC ou Campus France/CEF. Nous proposons aussi des dou-ble-diplômes pour les étudiants de nos universités partenaires.

ETUDIANTS DANS LE CADRE D’UN ÉCHANGE ACADÉMIQUEDanslecadredenosaccordsavecplusde 90 universités dans le monde enti-er,vouspouveznousrejoindrepourunà quatre semestres afin de suivre descours et valider des crédits ECTS. LesétudiantsEuropéenspeuventaussi ve-nirvialeprogrammeErasmus+.

Tous les cours sont donnés en français. Il est recommandé d’avoir un niveau suffisant en français (B1 – CECR minimum).

PROJET / STAGEIl est possible de réaliser un projet de fin d’études ou un stage de recherched’une durée de 3 à 6mois.Nous pro-posons une vaste gamme de sujets avec différentes thématiques. Votre pro-jet peut être effectué entièrement enanglais. Le programme est aussi ouvert auxétudiantsenlicence.

ASSURANCE RESPONSABILITÉ CIVILEOutre l’assurancemédicale, qui estobligatoire en France, vous devezprésenter une assurance respon-sabilité civile. Cette assurance vous couvre pour tous les risques de lavie quotidiennehors de l’école. Lesresponsabilités en relation avec votre logement, en cas d’accident, maisaussiceuxenlienaveclesportsontassurésjusqu’àunecertaineli-mite. Avant d’emménager dans votre chambre ou appartement il faudra présenter une assurance responsa-bilité civile. Sans cela, il ne vous sera pas permis de recevoir les clés.

Vous pouvez souscrire à une assu-rance dans votre pays d’origine. Si c’estlecas,vérifiezbienquel’assu-rance est aussi valable à l’étranger.

VOTRE LOGEMENTIlyaplusieursmanièresdeselogerà Clermont-Ferrand. Vous pouvezcandidater pour une chambre dans les résidences du CROUS. Vous pou-vezégalementchercherunlogementprivé à l’aide d’une agence immobi-lièreoudessiteswebspécialisés. Sivouscandidatezpourunlogementau CROUS, merci de faire votre de-mande au moins trois mois avant votre arrivée à Clermont. Nous nepourrons pas garantir qu’un loge-ment sur le contingent du CROUS sera disponible pour tout le monde.

ASSURANCE MALADIEEn France, tous les étudiantssont obligés d’avoir une assu-rance maladie. Ils sont généra-lement couverts par la Sécurité sociale française.

Avec l’inscription à SIGMA Clermont, chaque étudiant estéligible pour la demander l’ad-hésion à la sécurité sociale fran-çaise gratuitement.

Les ressortissants de l’Union Européenne sont exemptésd’adhésion à la Sécurité sociale mais doivent présenter leur Carte Européenne d’AssuranceMaladie(CEAM).

Il est toutefois important quevous ayez une couverture mé-dicale qui vous couvre pour levoyage et pour un éventuel sé-jour en France avant la rentrée académique.

PERMIS DE CONDUIRE

PourconduireenFrancevousavezbesoind’unper-mis de conduire en cours de validité. Tous les per-mis de conduire délivrés par les pays membres de l’UEsontvalablesenFrancesanslimitation.Tousles autres permis de conduire sont valables seule-mentsixmois.Vérifiezsivouspossédezunpermisde conduire valable pour la France ; le cas échéant vousrisquezdepayerdesamendes.

SurleCampusdesCézeaux ilexistedeuxrestau-rantsuniversitaires:laVérandaetleSaxo.Cesres-taurants sont ouverts pour le déjeuner et la Véran-daégalementpourledîner.Vouspouvezpayerenliquideouavecvotrecarted’étudiantchargéavecun crédit, pour charger votre carte étudiante il vous suffitd’approvisionnervotrecompteIZLYenligne.

INSCRIPTION À L’ÉCOLE

Avec l’inscription vous devenez étudiant(e)à SIGMA Clermont. L’inscription aura lieu au début du semestre après votre arrivée àClermont-Ferrand. Avant votre arrivée vous devez avoir en-voyé le formulaire de candidature. L’ins-cription se déroule au Service des Relations Internationales. Si vous êtes étudiant(e)en échange, vérifiezque vous êtes bieninscrit(e) dans votreuniversité d’origine.

Votre inscription vous permettra d’obtenir votre carte d’étu-diant, votre certificatde scolarité et un badge d’accès auxbâtiments. Sans ce badge vous ne pour-rez pas entrer dansles bâtiments des sites de chimie et de mécanique.

MONTANT DES FRAIS

D’INSCRIPTIONA l’inscription et pour chaque nouvelle an-néeacadémiquevousdevez vous acquitterdes frais d’inscription. Les frais sont fixéschaque année par leMinistère de l’Ensei-gnement Supérieur et peuvent varier d’une année académiqueà l’autre et en fonc-tion de votre cadre de mobilité. Les frais ap-plicables seront com-muniquezenavance.

Avant de s’inscrire, l’étudiant doit s’ac-quitter de la CVEC,une redevance na-tionale pour chaqueétudiant de 90€. Plus d’informations sont disponibles ici : https://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr/

VALIDATION DE VOTRE VISA ÉTUDIANTTous les étudiants étrangers (sauf citoyens UE) ont be-soin d’un titre de séjour pour pouvoir étudier en France. Vous devez soumettre votredemande à l’Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Inté-gration (OFII). Le service des relations internationales vous aidera dans vos démarches à votre arrivée.

Si vous venez étudier enFrance pour la première fois(primo-entrant) vous devezfaire valider votre visa d’étude auprèsdel’OFII.Cevisafonc-tionnera comme titre de sé-jour temporaire pendant un an. Au-delà de cette période vous devrez impérativementdemander un titre de séjour auprèsdelapréfecture.Nousvous accompagnerons dans ces démarches.

Avoir son visa validé ou son titre de séjour peut prendre uncertaintemps.Vousdevezaussipasserunexamenmé-dical avec un médecin agréé par la préfecture. Faites at-tention de ne pas prendre votrerendez-voustroptard.

POURQUOI OUVRIR UN COMPTE BANCAIRE FRANÇAIS ?

Sivousavezprévudeséjournerpendantaumoins trois mois en France, il est fortement conseillé d’ouvrir un compte bancaire dans unétablissementfrançais.Eneffet,certainsorganismescommelaCAF(Caissed’Alloca-tionsFamiliales)oulaSécuritéSocialevousremboursent par virements bancaires sur un compte français. Par ailleurs l’ouverture d’un compte bancaire est gratuite et vous permetdedisposerd’uncarnetdechèqueset d’une carte de crédit.

CONDITIONS D’OUVERTURE

Pour pouvoir ouvrir un compte, il faut impé-rativement vous munir des documents sui-vants :•une pièce d’identitévalide (carte d’identitéoupasseport),•un justificatif de do-micile (facture d’élec-tricité, quittance deloyer, certificat d’hé-bergement,etc.)•uncertificatdescola-rité ou une attestation d’inscription à SIGMA Clermont•un VISA, titre de sé-jour ou récépissé en cours de validité (saufpour les étudiants eu-ropéens),

TROUVERUNE BANQUE

Avant toute démarche, renseignez-vous au-près de votre banqued’origineafindesavoirsi elle est partenaire d’un organisme fran-çais, ce qui simplifie-rait vos démarches. Une fois votre choix fait, contactez la banque et prévoyez de déposer au minimum 15€ sur votre nouveau compte. La mise à disposition d’unchéquierestgra-tuite et d’une carte bancaire se fait gé-néralement dans les jours qui suivent l’ou-verture d’un compte bancaire.

COMPTE BANCAIRE À VOTRE ARRIVÉE

TRADUCTION DE DOCUMENT

Les organismes publics, comme la Sécurité sociale, pourront vous demander de fournir une traduction assermentée de votre acte de naissance ou d’autres documents.

LES PÔLES PAR FILIÈRESSIGMA Clermont vous propose plusiers filières d’études : lamécaniqueetlachimie,DataS-cience et INNOMECH (Masteren Anglais). Selon votre filièred’étude, vous avez la possibili-té de vous spécialiser dans l’un dessixdifférentspôlesscienti-fiques.Ilexisteaussiunpôleavecdesenseignements communs à tous les étudiants (languesétrangères, management, etc)appelépôleMICSE.

Vous ne pouvez choisir qu’un seul pôle scientifique !

Vousnepouvezdansaucuncascombiner les cours des diffé-rentspôles.Sivousvoulezsuivreune sélection de cours, vous de-vez choisir les cours d’un seuletmême pôle ! Cependant, lesmatières du pôle MICSE (Lan-gues, Economie, etc.) peuventêtre combinées librement avec tous les pôles.

Si vous n’en êtes pas dispensé, le cours de Français Langue Etrangère (FLE) est obligatoire et remplace la DLE (DeuxièmeLangueEtrangère)danslepro-gramme des études. Le cours deFLEvaut4ECTSsivouschoi-sissezunesélectiondecours.

SYSTÈME D’ÉVALUATIONIls existent trois différents types d’évaluation pour les cours :

1. le contrôle continue, qui se pré-sente par des petits tests, devoir à la maison et des projets pendant toute la durée du cours.2. la présentation orale : en classe sur un sujet définie3. l’examen final : un test à la fin des cours.

Non, cela n’est valable que pour leslangues!Parlerdel’organisationencours,TD,TP et du contrôle continu…Lanotefinaled’unematièreest cal-culée à la base des notes des ces trois types d’évaluation. Il est donc impor-tant de toujours être présent en cours etdenepasmanqueruneprésenta-tion ou un test, car ce n’est pas seu-lementl’examenfinalquidétermineravotre note.

En cas de non-validation d’une ma-tière vous avez la possibilité de vousaméliorerdansundeuxièmeexamenappelé « rattrapage ».

PRÉSENCE EN COURS La présence en cours est obligatoire pour tous les étudiants. Une absence doit toujoursêtre justifiéeetnepeutqu’avoir pour raison un empêche-ment administratif (convocation pré-fecture)ouuneraisonmédicale.Lesjustificatifsd’absencesontàapporterau service des études.Lesétudiantsquisontenprojetseuldoivent également être présents à l’écolechaquejouretprévenirleurtu-teur et le service RI en cas d’absence.

ACCÈS À L’ENT (ESPACE NUMÉRIQUE DE TRAVAIL)

Lorsdevotreinscriptionvousallezre-cevoiruneidentificationetunmotdepassequivouspermettrontd’accéderàl’intranet(ENT)etauWIFIsurtoutleCampus, dans votre résidence CROUS et à l’école. Sur l’ENT, vous trouvezpar exemple votre emploi du temps,qu’ilestimportantdeconsulterrégu-lièrement.

STAGESLes stages font partie intégrante des études. Ces stages sont obligatoires pour tous les étudiants diplômants. Les étudiants en échange ne sont pas soumis à cette obligation et peuvent choisir s’ils veulent faire un stage ou non. Normalement les stages sontfaits en entreprises, mais sont aus-si possibles dans des centres de re-cherches et universités. Selon l’année d’étude un stage peut comprendre entre3et6mois.Lesétudiantsinter-nationauxsontencouragésàréaliserleur stage en France, mais un stage à l’étranger reste également possible. Si le stage est fait en Europe, l’étu-diant(e)peutbénéficierd’unebourseeuropéenne(impossiblesistagedanslepaysd’origine).

Le Bureau des élèvesest responsable de la vie étudiante à l’école. Le BDEorganisedesactivi-tés, fêtes et animations tout au long de l’année.

Le BDE (le Bureau desElèves) gère les diffé-rents clubs et asso-ciations en lien avec des activités sportives, culturelles, scienti-fiques, etc. Les étu-diants de SIGMA peuvent s’investir dans l’une de ces nombreuses asso-ciations. LES TRANSPORTS

La ville de Clermont-Ferrand est bien connectéeauxautoroutesetauxdif-férentsréseauxdetransport.LaGareSNCF propose des connections detraindirectespourParisetLyon.Denombreuses lignes de bus proposent des lignes directes avec les autres villes(Bordeaux,Lyon…).

L’aéroport de Clermont-Ferrand pro-pose des vols réguliers pour Paris, la Corse et Amsterdam. Une ligne low-cost offre des vols vers le Portugal et le Royaume-Uni.

La ville de Clermont-Ferrand pos-sède une ligne de tramway et di-verses lignes de bus. Le campus des Cézeaux est desservi par le Tram A(Arrêts:Campus&CézeauxPellez).

WHO WE ARE ? OUR STORYIFMA (French Institute for AdvancedMechanics) was created in 1991 withthe support of a Foundation of large in-dustrial partners. It plays a key role in teaching the sciences and techniqueswhich enable the design, construction and management of advanced mechan-ical systems, products and services.

ENSCCF(NationalGraduateSchoolforChemistry) isoneoftheoldestinstitu-tions for studying Chemistry in France. Founded in 1908, it has been educating academically recognized researchersand professional chemists ever since.

In January 2016 the two engineeringgraduate schools, ENSCCF and IFMA,merged into a new graduate school for technologies, the largest in Central France. The name of the new school is SIGMA Clermont.

WHY SIGMA CLERMONT ?

The name SIGMA Clermont is not an acronym. It embodies the sum of our values and the plurality of our com-petences centered in the new school stemming from the fusion between the NationalGraduateSchoolforChemis-try (ENSCCF)and theFrench InstituteforAdvancedMechanics(IFMA).

Coming to study at SIGMA Clermont means integrating an innovative gradu-ateschool,withhigh-technologyequip-ment and permanent interactions with economic and industrial partners.

All classes are given in French. We recommend that you have a suffi-cient level of proficiency in French (B1 – CEFR).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Before coming to France, you shouldcheckontheentryrequi-rements. These differ substan-tially depending on one’s natio-nality. Please find out whetheryou need a visa and if so, which one! Please note: if you en-ter with a tourist visa, you can neither study nor work.

Citizens from the European Union, Norway, Switzerland and Iceland do not need any visa to enter study and work in France.

LIABILITY INSURANCE

Besides health insurance, which is compulsory in France, you need to present proof of private liability in-surance. Personal liability insurance covers the typical risks of everyday life outside of the school. Liabilities arising from house or apartment re-sidence, as well as those that occur during sports practice are insured to alimitedextent.Priortomovingintoyour residence rooms or apartment you will have to present this insu-rance.Withoutit,youcannotreceiveyour keys.

You can obtain this insurance in your home country. If this is the case, then please make sure that the insurance is valid abroad.

BEFORE COMING

YOUR ACCOMMODATION

There are several ways to stay in Clermont-Ferrand. You can apply for a room in the student residences (CROUS)oryoucanlookforaccom-modation via a private estate agent or websites.

When applying for student hou-sing, youshouldmakeyour requestat least three months before your planned semester start. We cannotguarantee that a suitable offer in the student residences will be found for you.

You will have the possibility of asking foraHousingsupport(APL)withtheFamilyallowancefund(CAF).

HEALTH INSURANCEIt is compulsory for all students in France to have health insu-rance cover. This is generally provided by the French social security system.

Students who register at SIG-MA Clermont are eligible for free of charge registration at the French social security.

EuropeanUnioncitizensdonotneed to register with the French social security under the condi-tion that they have social health coverage in their home country. Please provide the EuropeanHealth Insurances Card as proof.

It is however important that you have health coverage for the time before the academic year starts. This covers you in case anything happens during your travels.

DRIVER’S LICENSE

If you want to drive a car in France, you need a valid driver’s license. All licenses issued by the member countriesof theEuropeanUnionarevalidwithnolimitation in France. All other international driving licenses are valid only for six months as a rule.Please check if your driver’s license is valid for France,otherwiseyoumayhavetopayafine.

CANTERING

OntheCézeauxcampusyoucanfindtwocafeterias:the Véranda and the Saxo. Both are open duringlunchtime. Only the Veranda opens as well for din-ner. You can pay in cash or with your student card, which must be charged with credit beforehand with yourIZLYaccount.

ENROLLMENTBy registering, you become a student at SIGMA Clermont. Enrollment takesplaces at the begin-ning of the semester after your arrival in Clermont-Ferrand. You need to have sent your application form to SIGMA before your arrival. Enrollmenttakes place at the in-ternational office. Ifyou are an exchangestudent only, make sure that you remain enrolled at your home institution.

Your registration will allow you to obtain your student card, your proof of atten-dance and an access badge to the SIGMA buildings. Withoutthis access badge you will not have access to the buildings.

ENROLLMENT FEES

At enrollment and at each subsequentre-enrollment, you must pay enroll-ment fees. The an-nual amount to be paid is fixed by theMinistry of Educationeach academic year, and depends on your exchange studentstatus. The fee that applies to you will be communicated prior to your arrival.

RESIDENCE PERMIT

All foreign students who are not EU citizens need a re-sidence permit to study in France. You must apply for this to the French Office forImmigration and Integration (OFII). TheSIGMA Internatio-nal office will help you withthe application.

After validation by OFII, your study visa is valid as a one-year residence permit. After one year you must apply for a general student residence permit at the local depart-mentalauthority(Prefecture).Wewillhelpyouwiththisap-plication.

Obtaining your visa valida-tion and residence permit may take some time. You also need to undergo a medical examination by an official-ly appointed doctor. Please make sure that you fix yourappointment well in advance ofyourvisaexpirydate.

WHY OPEN A FRENCH BANK ACCOUNT

If you plan to stay more than three months in France, we recommend that you open a bank account at a French bank in Clermont. Cer-tainagencies like theCAF (accommodationallowance)ortheSocialSecuritypaybenefitsby bank transfer into French accounts only. Besides, opening a bank account allows you to have a checkbook and a credit card.

FINDING A BANK

Before looking for a bank in Clermont, ask your home bank whether it has partners in France. Having a partner bank would simplify your steps.Once your choice is made, contact the bank you like and open an account with a de-posit of at least 15€.

The checkbook and a bank card are gene-rally sent to you in the days which follow the opening of your ac-count.

ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTSBY SECTOR

SIGMA Clermont offers you se-veral study courses: mechanics andthechemistry,DataScienceand INNOMECH (Master in En-glish).

You have the possibility of spe-cializeinoneofthesixdifferentscientific areas, depending onyour course. There is also a de-partment covering subject com-montoallstudents(languages,management, etc.), calledMICSE.

Please note that courses from different scientific depart-ments cannot be combined.

If you want to select courses, you can only choose within the courses of the one depart-ment chosen above. However, coursesfromtheMICSEdepart-ment (Languages, Economy,etc.) can be combined with allother departments.

Ifnotexempt,theFrenchasFo-reign Language Course (FLE)is mandatory and replaces the DLE (second foreign language)mentioned in the SIGMA study program.4ECTScreditsareat-tributed to the course, if you se-lect individual courses.

EVALUATION SYSTEMThere are three different types of evaluation for each subject:

1. Continuous evaluation: an evalua-tion made of little tests, homework and projects during the whole se-mester2. Oral presentation: usually in class and on a special subject matter3. Final examination: a final exam at the end of each course.

Thefinalmarkofeachcourseiscal-culated out of the marks obtained in the three different types of evaluation. It is therefore important to always be present in class and to not miss out any tests or presentations, because it isnotonlyyourfinalexamthatdeter-minesyourfinalmark.

If one subject has not been passed you willhavetheoptiontoretakethefinalexaminordertoimproveyourmark.

CLASS ATTENDANCE Attendance in class is mandatory for all students. An absence must always be justified and canhave onlymedi-caloradministrativereasons(likeanappointment at the prefecture). Ab-sencesneedtobejustifiedattheStu-dyOffice(servicedesétudes)Students working on projects are also requiredtobepresenteveryday,andto inform their supervisor and the In-ternationalOfficeincaseofabsence.

Upon enrollment you will receive an identification and password enablingyou to access the WIFI network onCampus, in your CROUS residence and in the school. You will also have access to the school intranet, where youcanfind for instanceyourperso-nal timetable. It is very important to check your timetable regularly

INTERNSHIPS

Internships are an important part of the curriculum at SIGMA. These internships are mandatory for all degree-seeking students, whereas exchangestudentsarenotobligedto do them. Usually internships take place in Companies, but can also be conducted in research facilities anduniversities.Dependingontheyear of study the internship can last fromthreetosixmonths.ForeignStudents are encouraged to conduct their internship in France, but pla-cements abroad are also accepted. StudentscanbenefitfromaEuro-pean internship grant if conducted inaEuropeancountry(exceptforstudents’homecountries).

The Students’ Associa-tion is responsible for all student activities at SIGMA Clermont. Throughout the year it organizes events, par-ties and other activities.

The BDE manages allthe different clubs for sports, scientific andcultural activities. The students of SIGMA are free to join any of the nu-merous clubs. For more information, check out the “plaquette Alpha”(brochure about clubsand associations at SIG-MAClermont).

TheBDEalsoorganizesan integration weekend for all new students in September, and inter-national students are warmly invited to parti-cipate.

Clermont is has a widely connec-ted urban and regional transport network.TheSNCFtrainstationpro-poses various train connections for ParisandLyon.Numerousbus linescan take you to different cities within France(Bordeaux,Lyon…).

Besides its bus network, Clermont has also a tram line, connecting the city center to the Campus.

ACTIVITIES

Situated in the cen-ter of France, Cler-mont-Ferrand is an attractive and dyna-mic city which wel-comes students from all corners of the world. The city pro-poses a wide range of activities for the young people: thea-ters, cinemas, bars, cafés, restaurants, shopping malls and more.

Famous for its chain of Volcanoes, the Au-vergne offers magni-ficent natural lands-capes and theme parks like Vulcania. These places can be visited all year long.

It is customary in France to consult, in case of general complaints, initially a general practitioner. In France there are general practitioners and specia-lists (ophthalmologists, dermatolo-gists,etc.)Ifyouneedtoseeadoctor,it is a good idea to make an appoint-mentfirst. Ifnecessary,youwillthenbe transferred to a specialist.

In France you need to pay for a regu-lar consultation at a doctor’s. General practitioners charge 25€, while the amount for a specialist might differ. The costs will be reimbursed by your social security and medical assu-rance. Consultations at the student preventive medicine service are free.
