T H E D E S I G N : Though knitting is an old craft, it hasn’t yet been

exploited for modern design lamps, and this was the fundamental

aspiration for Made By Hand. The knitted materiality of the Knit-

Wit lamp distributes light through the yarn’s pattern, making each

lamp distinctive and decorative. The Knit-Wit family of lamps with

their basic shape, warmth and lightness, range of sizes and wide

color palette can easily and naturally find their place in any interior

– from private houses to public spaces.

T H E D E S I G N : The Sturdy Stool is strong and familiar,

based on the idea of the ladder, for ease of use. Its signature

is a series of chunky rings in brushed steel and an aluminium

skirt. The Sturdy Stool comes in variations of colours, finishes

and materiality so it can be customized to fit into residential

or commercial interiors.

joinery, the Made by Hand Coat Stand is sim-

ple and easy to assemble for everyday use. The

Coat Stand is a discrete, low-key design, in dia-

logue with its surroundings, but with a feeling of

T H E D E S I G N : The Petite Machine clearly reflects the Danish

craftmanship tradition and combine modern technology with a hu-

man touch. The name Petite Machine refers to the functionality and

mobility between the shade and base. Like a machine all the in-

ternal functions are compressed in order to maintain a small-scale

design. The design is inspired by lamp design of the 1930s and 1950s.

Brass reflector detail

T H E D E S I G N : RO lamp draws inspiration from the old craft mak-

er traditions in the 1920s and 1930s where a simple lamp shade was

made of ne and yarn usually tied around a wooden stand. The RO

lamp shade is made of jute yarn tied around a simple base in line

with the old traditions in Denmark.

Inside the lamp shade the brass reflector allows only small cracks of

light to travel along the jute yarn in different heights creating a very

cosy light. The lamp name RO in Danish refers to the calmness and

simple human feeling of well being.

T H E D E S I G N : The series of porcelain lamps by award

winning Danish designer Erik Magnussen were originally

made in 1982 and redesigned and updated by the designer

in 2005 as the Porcelight series. The discrete and minima-

listic high quality design is crafted by hand and is Danish

design in essence. It can be used in both contemporary

and classical interiors for numerous applications, both in

commercial interiors and in the home.

T H E D E S I G N : The classic original Danish workshop lamp is designed

by A. Wedel-Madsen. In style, expression and function, the workshop lamp

unites modern and contemporary design values. In the 1950s, “the workshop

lamp” was used to provide the necessary light for craftspeople in the work-

shop, - passionate and very proud of their deep understanding of materials,

techniques, and utmost attention to detail.

T H E D E S I G N : With inspiration drawn from classic pin-

stripe suits and American color field paintings from the 60’s,

Made by Hand’s Pinstripe throws draw on an intentionally

classic pattern. The lines of the Pinstripe Throw make a small

landscape when draped over a couch or chair. Letting the

lines meet in the middle of the throw also activates the en-

tire surface and turns it into a rich, luminous object rather

than just a piece of fabric.
