累計発行部数1600万部を突破した至高のSFカリスマコミックを特殊な技術を使って映像化に成功、異彩を放った作品として、日本でも大ヒットの映画がモントリオールで公開された。そんな地元の邦画ファンの声に応えて、佐藤信介監督がインタビューに応じてくれた。

――この映画の見所は？

やはり、独特の世界観を持った映画のその雰囲気と、徐々に拡大していく壮絶なバトル。ちょっと見たことのない奇抜な物語でしょうか。ある独特のスタイルも持ったSFアクション映画です。そういうものを作りたいと思っていました。また、原作にある、奇抜な星人は、とても面白く描けたと思っています。

――松山ケンイチ、二宮和也、等、脇役を含めて数多くの個性派俳優を共演させることによる苦労は？もしくは、撮影中のエピソードなど。

最初は、とても苦労するのではないかと思っていましたが、始まってみると、とても楽しく、有意義で、創造的な日々でした。GANTZ部屋のシーンは、後半に行くに従って動きも複雑で、ドラマも込み入ってきます。そこで、part1からpart2の最後まで、一度、撮影が始まる何週間も前に、リハーサルをしました。大きな黒い風船を膨らませてGANTZ玉に見立て、スタジオの地面にテープで部屋の大きさをだいたい描き、その中でみんなに演じてもらった。その時、玄野のキャラクターや西のキャラクターができていきました。まるで舞台を見ているようで、面白かったです。そこで僕のプランもあらかじめ示せましたし、複雑な群像劇が展開されるGANTZ部屋で、みんながどういう芝居に出てくるのか、役者同士、探りあえたようです。

――『GANTZ』のテーストで、何か意識したところは？

今回、『GANTZ』『GANTZ PERFECT ANSWER』の二つは、同時に撮影されています。part１を撮って、part２を撮るのではなく、今日、１のあるシーンを撮ったら、その次に、２のあるシーンを撮って、また次の日には１のあるシーンを……というようにスケジュール的に全く同時に撮っています。しかし、ある長い映画を二つに分けたような印象にはしたくなかった。まるで、１を作った後、何年かして２を作ったような。あるいは、１になかったものが、２にあり、２にないものが、１にあるような。１と２を、論じ分けられるような、そういう映画にしたいと思っていました。だから、１は、静的なイメージ、重厚なイメージ、しかし２はライトで１では伏せているスピード感がある映画を目指していました。同時に撮影する難しさはありましたが、狙い通り、二つの面を持つ、二つの映画ができたように思います。

――これから撮りたい映画は？

『修羅雪姫』（The Princess Blade）というSFアクションを作ったことがあります。その時の経験、そしてその後、様々な経験で得たものを、『GANTZ』には込めたつもりです。またいつか、今回得たものを、このジャンルに詰め込みたい。SFは作り続けたいですね。映画にはSFというジャンルがよく似合います。あと、一級のサスペンスをものにしたいですね。

玄野が走る、ネギ星人の頭が吹っ飛ぶ、建物や地下鉄の車両が崩壊する、そのたびに会場からは拍手大喝采。全く予備知識のない観客が、劇場一体となって心底楽しめた映画だった。

Japan was finally presented to the public in Mon-treal. It was successfully created by using special technology to be bring to life the popular Sci-Fi manga.

Director Shinsuke Sato accepted an interview in response to the voice of local Japanese film fans in Montreal.

――What is the highlight of this film?

Yousee,theatmosphereofthefilmgivesauniquepointofviewofthemagnificentbattlethatslowlyunveils.SincegANTZ’sstoryisquitestrangeIhadtomakeaSci-Fiactionfilmwithauniquestyle.Addi-tionally,Ibelievethatthecastwasabletodepictthecharactersintheoriginalworkveryinterestingly.

―― Did you have a hard time directing many unique actors including supporting actors such as Ken’ichi Matsuyama and Kazunari Ninomiya? Can you share some anecdotes that happened during the filming?

InitiallyIwasafraidofhavingahardtime.however,whenwestarted,everydaywasalotoffun,mean-ingful,andcreative.

Thescenesinthegantz’sroomrequiredalotofac-tionsanddramawhichbecamecomplicatedtofilmtowardsthelaterhalf.Therefore,wehadrehearsedfromthepart1totheendofpart2severalweeksbeforeshootingthefilm.WeblewupabigblackballoontomakeitlooklikethegANTZballandweusedtapetoindicatetheboundariesoftheroom.IwassurprisedbecausebeforeIcouldexplainmyplan,eachactorfiguredouthowtheywouldacttorepresentthedramathatIwaslookingfor.

――How did you manage to create two mov-ies with GANTZ’s unique storyline?

Thistime,“gANTZ”and“gANTZpeRFecTAN-SWeR”wereshotsimultaneously.Itwasnotlikeshootingpart1andthenpart2.IfIshootasceneofpart1today,Iwillshootasceneofpart2.Andinthefollowingday,Iwillshootasceneofpart1,andsoon.Ishotbothperfectlysimultaneously,schedule-wise.however,Ididn’twanttogiveanimpressionthatalongfilmwasdividedintotwo.IwantedtogiveanimpressionasifImadepart2afewyearsafterpart1.orthatyoucanfindthemissingdetailsofpart1inpart2,andviceversa.Ialsowantedtomakeafilmwherethetwopartscouldbewatchedindependently.There-fore,mygoalwastomakepart1withmorestaticactionsandimposingscenes,andpart2withlightandahiddenimpressionofspeed.Althoughthereweredifficultiesinshootingthetwosimultaneouslyasplaned,IthinkIcouldrepeattheexperienceforanotherfilm.

――What kind of films would you like to make from now on?

IhavemadeaSci-Fiactionfilmcalled“Shurayukihime”or“TheprincessBlade.”IuseditsexperienceandotherexperiencesthatIgainedlaterforgANTZ.Inthefuture,IwanttousewhatI’velearnedinmakinggANTZinothermoviesofthesamegenre.IwishtocontinuemakingSci-Fifilmsandmaybeasuspensefeature.

Kurono ran, the head of Star Man Negi was blown up, buildings and a subway train were destroyed. Each scene received a storm of applause from the audience at the theatre. The audience who didn’t have a preliminary knowl-edge, could sincerely enjoy the film alltogether .

――Selon vous, quels sont les points forts du film?

jpn 今回ご紹介させていただく日本の食材は「油揚げ」です。

日本の食材としておなじみの豆腐を薄く切って揚げたもので、一見パンのように見えます。ピタブレッドのように中が空洞になっています。スポンジのように出汁を吸いこんで、噛むとじゅわっと汁がでてくる食感も特徴的です。日本では狐の好物だといわれていますね。

eng Discover the Japanese ingredient “Abura-age.” It is made of tofu which is already a common Japanese ingredient. It is produced by cutting tofu into thin slices and then being deep fried. It may look like a slice of bread at first glance. It has a pocket just like pita bread. It is a unique ingredient because Abura-age sucks up the broth so you will feel and taste the broth of the soup go fully through your mouth as you chew it. Japanese believe the myth that it is the favorite food of the fox.

油揚げは端っこをほんの少し切り落とす（大きい油揚げは半分にカットする）。破らないようにそっと開いて袋状にする。お湯を沸かしさっとゆでて余分な油を抜く。

Cut off slightly the end of Abura-age (If the Abura-age is big, simply cut into half). Open the Abura-age gently to make a pouch. Put them in boiled water for a second to remove any extra grease.

Boil water and condiments in a pot. Add Abura-age and simmer. Put a small lid resting directly on the Abura-age, or flip them to simmer well on both sides until the soup boils down. Cool down.

Make the rice seasoning. Cut carrots and Shiitake in 5mm cubes then simmer them in the soup prepared above (point 2). When the soup boils down, add the seasoning to the cooked rice or vinegared rice and mix. Make 10 balls. (Easy to do with plastic wraps)

**The key is to use short grain rice. Italian rice (for risotto) works fine too. Long grain rice usually doesn't work well for Japanese dishes.

jpn 「ワインの飲み方を知っている者は、ワインを飲まずにその秘密を味わう」…サルヴァドール・ダリのこの言葉に従って、今月のにこの”Bon Appetit!”は、人気のワインバー“PULLMAN”の秘密に迫ります！

2003年オープンのPULLMAN、そのお店の名前は、豪華な鉄道車両を開発して世に送り出したPULLMAN氏の名にちなんだもの。その名にふさわしく、全ての空間、つまり吹き抜けのテラス席、その奥の広いバーカウンター席、中２階のバーにラウンジ、そしてレセプションルームが、少しずつ違う形で、お洒落かつシックなデザインにまとまっています。デザインを担当したのは、Catherine Bélangerさんと共に共同経営者にもなっているBruno Braënさん。２００６年のConcours Créativité Montréalにて、お店部門のグランプリを獲得したほど、そのデザインの斬新さ、美しさには目をみはるものがあります。

283の脚長グラスで作られた、この店のシンボルマークともなっている豪華シャンデリア。きらめく光に迎えられ席につくと、やがてにこやかなソムリエが登場します。こちらの好みを伝えるもよし、ソムリエにお任せするもよし、いずれにしても、ワイン談義を人生の哲学にまで発展させて、たっぷりとソムリエとの会話を楽しむのがワインバーでのにこの過ごし方。少しずつ色々なワインを試したいので、グラスワインを「序破急―hop, step, jump―」の要領で３つ選んでいただくことに。大きなグラスに2ozの線まで注いでもらい、飲み比べに入ります。並べてみれば、色、香りが違うのは一目瞭然。３つのグラスを行ったり来たりしながら飲み比べる楽しさは、ワインが生きた飲み物であることを再確認させてくれます。

おつまみとして注文できる品々は、ワインの存在を脅かすほど、丁寧かつ美味に作られています。ゆるやかなジャズ系の音楽が流れているので、舌づつみを打つ満足げな音が、そのままＢＧＭに溶け込んでいきます。

eng Led by the phrase of Salvador Dali, “Qui sait déguster ne boit plus jamais de vin mais goùte des secrets. (He who knows how to taste never drinks wine, but rather tastes its secrets,)” for this month of Nico’s Bon Appetit!, I am going to taste the secrets of a popular wine bar called Pullman.

Pullman, named after George Pullman who developed and offered trains with luxurious accommodation, was launched in 2003. As the name implies, all the space, that is to say, from the terrace in an open ceiling space to the wide bar counter in the back to the bar at the lounge on a mezzanine floor to the reception room, are integrated beautifully and sophisticatedly with each space permitting subtle distinction one after another. The interior design was done by Bruno Braën who also managed the bar with Catherine Bélanger. The design is so original and beautiful that it was awarded the grand prize in the business category of 2006 Concours Créativité Montréal.

Overhead shines the ornate chandelier made with 283 wine glasses. Soon as you take a seat in the sparkling light, a sommelier with a pleasant smile comes over. You can order your favorite or leave it to their choice. Either way is fine. For me, I like to have a comfortable and amusing chat with the sommelier about wines and everyday matters. On that day, I asked the sommelier to select three types of glass wines so I could enjoy varieties of wines at the same time. With 2 oz. of each wine poured in wine glasses and arranged before me, I could clearly see and smell the difference among them. As I tasted each wine back and forth ceaselessly, I reconfirmed that the wine actually has a life in itself.

The dishes provided for wines are cooked with great care and good enough to take away a starring role from the wines. The sound of chatting, together with the clanking noises of wine glasses, knives and forks, melted into a slow jazz music played in the bar.

Pullman is just a place where you want to visit with someone special. Take a seat in a luxurious carriage and have some wonderful dinner. À Table!!

fra Inspiré par les mots de Salvador Dali, « Qui sait déguster ne boit plus jamais de vin mais goûte des secrets », pour cette édition de Bon appétit! je vais goûter aux secrets d’un populaire bar à vin, Pullman.

Pullman, nommé d’après George Pullman, qui développa des trains de luxe, a été fondé en 2003. Tel que le nom le laisse entendre, tous les espaces sont intégrés de façon très

sophistiqué, et en même temps se distinguent subtilement les uns des autres, de la terrasse à ciel ouvert jusqu’au grand comptoir, du bar dans la mezzanine jusqu’à la salle de réception. Le design d’intérieur a été conçu par Bruno Braën, qui a aussi géré le bar avec Catherine Bélanger. Le design est si beau et original qu’il a gagné le grand prix dans la catégorie affaires du Concours Créativité Montréal en 2006.

Si on regarde vers le plafond, on voit le lustre très décoré fait avec 283 verres de vin. Aussitôt qu’on s’assoit sous la lumière étincelante, un sommelier souriant viendra vous voir. Vous pouvez commander votre vin préféré, ou bien laisser le sommelier faire le choix pour vous. D’une façon ou de l’autre, vous ne seriez pas déçu. Personnellement, j’aime bien causer avec le sommelier de vin et de choses et d’autres. Cette fois-ci j’ai demandé au sommelier d’en choisir trois types de vin différents, comme ça je pourrais m’amuser à les comparer. Deux onces de chaque vin ont été servies dans des verres différents; je voyais et sentais la différence entre chaque. En goûtant les vins un par un, j’ai reconfirmé que le vin est infusé de vie.

Les plats qu’on sert avec les vins sont cuisinés avec soin, et ils sont si bons qu’ils pourraient facilement voler la vedette aux vins. Le brouhaha des gens qui parlaient et le bruit des verres de vins, couteaux et fourchettes qui s’entrechoquaient se mêlaient au jazz doux qui jouait dans le bar.

Pullman est un endroit à visiter avec quelqu’un de spécial. Assoyez-vous dans un wagon de luxe et profitez d’un bon repas. À table!!

jpn 日本を代表する女優のひとり中谷美紀さんが、モントリオールにて初舞台「猟銃」に挑む。

原作は、これまた日本を代表する文学作家のひとり井上靖の1949年に発表された短編小説である。ある男の13年間にわたる不倫の恋を、男の妻、不倫相手、不倫相手の娘という、3人の女性からの手紙から描き出した作品で、中谷さんはこの3人の女性をすべて演じるという。

この舞台は、まずモントリオールで初演、その後、10月に日本で凱旋公演が行われる。

演出するのは、映画監督として「レッド・バイオリン」「シルク」などを手掛けるほか、シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユ『ZED』やオペラ、演劇の舞台演出を務めるなど、ケベックを代表する

演出家のフランソワ・ジラールによる。この3者の化学反応がどうでるのか、まさに楽しみな舞台である。

公演に先駆けて、中谷美紀さんがインタビューに応じてくれた。

- モントリオールの印象は？

アートが盛んな街という印象を持っていました。フランス語圏ということで、北米にありながら時間がゆっくりと過ぎて行き、仕事に忙殺されることなく皆さんが人生を謳歌していることに羨ましさを感じます。更には人々が一様に温かく、すぐに人を助ける人柄の良さが街全体に溢れているところが魅力ではないでしょうか。

- 初舞台をモントリオールで迎えることへの豊富、意気込みなど。

初舞台で一人三役という重荷を背負ってしまったのですが、フランソワさんはたとえ不可能と思われることでも可能だと信じさせてくださる方で、周囲のスタッフがみな彼のお役に立ちたいと思って動いているのが分かります。全体がひとつになって舞台を作っていく、その中の一人として関わっていることはとても光栄なことです。フランソワさんは、演出をする際も、「あなたは何をしたいのか？何を表現したいのか？　僕は良い作品にするのならなんでもする」と言ってくださるんですね。日本人の感受性を大切にしてくださる方なので、とても演じやすいです。

- 違った立場の3人の女性を演じるなど、違った役を演じていくこつは？

役を入れることよりも捨てることを心掛けています。今回の三人の女性も、それぞれが言い知れぬ魅力を持っています。しかし、ひとりに肩入れするのではなく、真っ白の状態から役を作っていくようにしています。

- 今後の抱負は？

日本という国の美しさを、同じ日本人の方とも分かち合えるような作品に携わりたいと思っています。

凛とした静かさを持つ立ちふる舞いの中、自分のやるべきことを常に見極めている意思の強さを感じた。日本女性の美しさを、中谷さんを通して改めて実感したインタビューだった。

prepares for her first stage play in Montreal As one of the leading actresses in Japan, Miki Nakatani takes on the challenge of her stage debut in "Le fusil de chasse" that will be played in Montreal. The play is based on an original short novel written in 1949 by Yasushi Inoue, a prominent author in Japan. It is about a man's 13-year love affair described through letters written by 3 different women – the man’s wife, his mistress and his mistress' daughter. In the play, Nakatani portrays all 3 women. This play will open in Montreal and will travel to Japan in October. François Girard, famous in Québec for directing “The Red Violin” and “Silk”, is the play’s director. He has also been at the head of the Cirque du Soleil’s "ZED" along with an opera and countless other stage acts. In his latest project, it will be interesting to watch for the chemistry between the 3 characters. We conducted an interview with Miki Nakatani and asked her some questions about “Le fusil de Chasse.”- How do you like Montreal so far?

qu’elle débutera au théâtre dans une pièce présenté à Montréal

Étant l’une des actrices les plus populaires au Japon, Miki Nakatani a accepté de faire ses débuts au théâtre avec “Le fusil de Chasse”, qui sera joué à Montréal.

La pièce est basée sur le roman écrit en 1949 par Yasushi Inoue, un auteur marquant au Japon. On y dépeind la relation amoureuse d’un jeune homme de 13 ans racontée par des lettres écrites par 3 femmes différentes - l’épouse de l’homme, sa maîtresse et la maîtresse de sa fille. Dans la pièce, Nakatani interprétera chacune des 3 femmes.

La tournée débutera à Montréal et voyagera par la suite au Japon en octobre.

François Girard, célèbre au Québec comme réalisateur de films tel que “Le violon rouge” et “Silk”, mettra en scène cette pièce. Il a également été à la tête du Cirque du Soleil pour le spectacle “ZED” ainsi que pour des opéras et d’innombrables pièces de théâtre. Pour ce projet, il sera intéressant d’observer la chimie entre les 3 personnages.

jpn 2011年の「モントリオール世界映画祭(Montreal World Film Festival)」学生コンペティション部門にノミネートされた作品の中に、モントリオール在住の日本人監督の作品「DOOR」を発見！７月の「Fantasia映画祭」でもPrix d’Excellence d’Animation を受賞した同作品の青木義乃監督に、今月の「モントリオールのナイスガイ」を飾っていただきます！

本業は、NFOE et Associes Architecte社のグラフィックデザイナー。一方で２年前からコンコルディア大学で、アニメーションの勉強を続けています。姪の７歳の誕生日をパペットのアニメーションで祝いたいという気持ちで大学に入ってしまったというから驚き。しかも大学１年目に製作したパペットのアニメ「Happy Birthday Theatre」が、

「ストュットガルト国際映画祭」の若手監督部門やシカゴ国際子供映画祭にノミネートされるという偉業を達成します。

今年の作品「DOOR」は、自分を抽象的に紹介するという課題のもと製作。時に重かったり、押すかとおもいきや引かなければいけなかったり、こちら

の思惑をはずしてくる存在にもなりえるドアと、真剣に対峙し開けようとする自分。人生における数々の困難に自分がどう立ち向かってきたか、を思い出しながらの製作となりました。思いやりと優しさに溢れた義乃さんの人柄がそのまま、作品を通じて、観る人たちの心に染みいります。なかなか開かないドアを結局最後、どうするか…。結末に義乃さんの人生観が表れていますので、ここではあえて内緒にしておきましょう。

モントリオール日本語センターで先生をしたり、日系の会報製作にも携わるなど、日系コミュニティーへの貢献も大。義乃さんの夢は、大好きな子供達に喜んでもらえる作品をこれからも作り続けていくこと。日本語センターの生徒さんと共に製作する作品アイデアが、現在も進行中です…。

義乃さんとお話すると楽しくなるのは、「今」にきちんと根を張って、明るい未来を見つめる人だから。モントリオールにまた一人、夢叶わせるファンタジスタを発見です…。

eng Beyond the doorI spotted a film called ‘The Door’ listed in the Canadian Student Film Festival which is a part of the Montreal World Film Festival. The film was directed by Yoshino Aoki, a Japanese living in Montreal, and has won the Prix d’Excellence d’Animation in the Fantasia International Film Festival held this July. I am choosing her for this month’s ‘Nice Guy from Montreal.’

Aside from her main career as a graphic designer at NFOE et Associes Architecte, she has now been studying film animation at the Concordia University for two years. It is somewhat surprising to know that one of her motivations to start out making a film animation was to celebrate the seventh birthday of her niece with a puppet animation. What is more, during her first year at the University, her puppet animation called ‘Happy Birthday Theatre’ was successfully nominated for the Young Animation category at the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film and at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival.

‘The Door’ was produced this year with the concept of representing herself in an abstract form. In the film, the main character is perplexed with a door before her. Sometimes it is too heavy to push, other times she does not know whether to pull or push to open it, and yet she stands facing it to try opening the door in a serious manner. The animation process itself reminded her of a diversity of difficulties she had come across, and how she had dealt with them. With all these factors included in the film, it reveals to the viewers her fundamental personality filled with tenderness and warm-heartedness. What happens in the end? I recommend you to see how she deals with the unopened door by yourself. That I think represents her attitude about life.

In addition to this, she is also active in the Japanese community such as teaching at the Montreal Japanese Centre and being involved with a bulletin production. Going forward, she said she wants to keep on creating things that will please children and, at this moment, the project with students from the Japanese Centre is progressing.

I had a wonderful time talking with her. She has a firm foot in the present and gazes at a bright future. I guess I have found another dream maker here in Montreal.

fra Au delà de la porteJ’ai remarqué un film intitulé « The Door » au Festival des Films d’Étudiants Canadien faisant partie du Festival des Films du Monde à Montréal. Le film réalisée par Yoshino Aoki, une Japonaise vivant à Montreal, a remporté le Prix d’Excellence d’Animation au Festival International de Films FanTasia qui a eu lieu en juillet dernier. Je l’ai choisie pour la

personnalité du mois à Montréal.

Hormis sa carrière comme designer graphique chez NFOE et Associés Architecte, elle poursuit des études au programme de films d’animation à l’université de Concordia depuis deux ans. Il peut paraître un peu surprenant d’apprendre que sa motivation pour faire un film était de célébrer le septième anniversaire de sa nièce avec une animation de poupées. De plus, pendant sa première année à l’université, son animation « Happy Birthday Theatre » a été mise en nomination dans la catégorie de « Young Animation » au Festival International de Films d’Animation de Stuttgart ainsi qu'au Festival International de Films pour Enfants de Chicago.

« The Door » a été produit cette année avec l'idée de se représenter elle-même sous une forme abstraite. Dans le film, elle est confondue par la porte qui se trouve devant elle. Des fois, la porte est bien trop lourde pour être poussée, d’autres fois, le personnage principal hésite à pousser ou tirer pour l’ouvrir et réfléchit dans le but de l’ouvrir d’une façon sérieuse. Le processus d’animation lui-même rappelle les diverses difficultés qu’elle a éprouvées et comment elle s’est débrouillée pour s’en sortir. Tous les éléments présents dans le film révèlent aux spectateurs des éléments fondamentaux de sa personnalité chaleureuse et remplie de tendresse. Qu’arrive-t-il à la fin? Et bien, je vous recommande de voir par vous-mêmes quelle décision elle prendra devant cette porte close. Je crois que cela représente son attitude envers la vie.

De plus, elle est très active au sein de la communauté nippone, car elle enseigne au Centre Japonais de Montréal et est impliquée dans la production du journal « Le Bulletin ». Actuellement occupée à faire progresser les projets avec les élèves du Centre Japonais, à l'avenir elle dit vouloir continuer à créer des choses qui plairont aux enfants.

J’ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à parler avec elle. Elle a les pieds fermement ancrés dans le présent et pose un regard positif vers l'avenir. Je crois avoir trouvé un autre réalisateur de rêves ici à Montréal.

ールも協力させていただくことになりました。どのような内容になるのか、今回の主催者でもある、バーレスクダンサーのチェリータイフーンさんにお話を伺いました。

１、どのような経緯でイベント開催となったのですか？

東日本大震災から早５ヶ月、日本も復興に向けて動いている一方、国内外での関心も薄れていくおそれも有ります。しかし、産業と生活の具体的な復興はこれからなので、継続的な支援が必要なのではないかと考えていました。

モントリオール出身のバーレスクダンサーMiss Sugarpussは、ミュージカルなどで女優としても活躍しています。日本でも２回ミュージカルに出演し、日本に親近感を持ち個人的に募金を続けていました。しかし個人でできる事に限界を感じた事、継続的支援が大事と感じた事、何より彼女が日本を愛している事！この事からこのイベントを日本人の私に提案してくれました。

２、バーレスクダンスについて教えてください。

バーレスクダンスとは、もともと「歌・踊りを交えて行うバラエティショー」をさしました。２０世紀初頭、女性がチラリとセクシーな表現を取り入れながら行う舞台が大変人気となり、９０年代後半に

「ネオ・バーレスク」というムーブメントが生まれました。単なるセクシーではなく女性の強さ、生きる力、平和、ジェンダー等様々なテーマと表現方法をもって取り組むダンサーが増え、現在欧米を中心に大人気のエンターテイメントです。

３、イベントの紹介と見所

テーマは「愛」です。バーレスクならではのユーモアと美しさに溢れた楽しいショータイムで、皆様に微笑みの時間を過ごしていただきたいと思っています。笑顔が人を助ける1番の原動力になるので！また、日本と日本を愛する人によるミニ・マーケットプレイスも行います。衣装デザイナー、古布リサイクリストの武田繭さんをはじめ様々な賛同者のグッズを展開します。可愛い小物から掘り出し物まで、どうぞお楽しみに！そして、このイベントの収益はすべて日本の継続支援の為に提供致します。

バーレスクダンサーとして活躍される方々の日本を思う優しい心と行動力で生まれたこのイベントに感謝し、それに協力してくださる方々の思いが、今もなお苦しんでいる被災者の方々に届く事を願っています。バーレスクダンスのショーは見に行くのがちょっと恥ずかしいかなと思いがちですが、そうではないのです。セクシーだけどとてもかわいらしくて、なんだか心が温まり、笑顔が自然とこぼれ、応援したくなってしまう素敵なショーです。これを機会にみんなで見に行きましょう！

What motivated you to organize this event?

It has been 5 months since the Japanese earthquake. While I see that the Japanese are trying hard to rebuild their country, I fear that the interest from people living inside and outside Japan may be declining. I believe it is necessary to provide ongoing support to the Japanese since their struggle of reconstructing their lives is far from over.

Miss Sugarpuss, an actress and burlesque dancer from Montreal, worked in musicals and even made two appearances in musicals in Japan. Her strong love for Japan compelled her to make continuous personal donations.

However, she felt that she could not fulfill her

commitment to providing ongoing

support by working alone; she felt limited. Her love of the country led her to come in contact with

Coco Montreal in order to discuss

about a possible charity event.

Please tell us more about Burlesque dance.

Originally, Burlesque dance stood for “entertaining shows mixed with song and dance”. In the early 20th century, stage shows with sensual female dancers became quite popular. Then, in the late 90s, came a movement called “Neo Burlesque”. Many dancers began expressing not only sensuality, but also the strength of women, the zest for living, peace, gender issues, etc. Nowadays, Burlesque is a widely popular form of entertainment in both Europe and America.

Could you provide us with some details and highlights of this event?

The theme of the event is “Love”. We are hoping to bring smiles to the audience with an exciting show filled with humor and beauty. Our sense of humor will be the driving force for helping people! Also, there will be a small market area held by Japanese and other supporters. There, the merchants, such as costume designer and fabric recycler Mayu Takeda, will display and sell various crafted items. No one should miss this opportunity to purchase cute accessories and find bargains! All proceeds will be donated to charities which provide support to Japan.

We hope that this event, made possible by the Burlesque dancers’ profound sympathy towards Japan and their ability to take action, will truly benefit the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Those who may feel uncomfortable or shy about attending a Burlesque show shouldn’t be. Burlesque dance is sensual, yet attractive and inspiring. The audience will likely appreciate this show and have a more positive outlook on the current situation. This event is truly a must-see.

Typhoon, danseuse burlesque, en collaboration avec Coco Montréal, aura lieu le 1er septembre 2011. Nous avons posé quelques questions à Cherry Typhoon sur le spectacle à venir.

Qu’est-ce qui vous a motivé à organiser cet événement?

Cela fait déjà cinq mois depuis le séisme au Japon. Bien que je constate que les Japonais essaient durement de reconstruire leur pays, j’ai bien peur que l’intérêt des personnes habitant à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur du Japon ne tombe en déclin. Je crois qu’il est nécessaire de fournir un appui constant aux Japonais, étant donné que leur lutte pour rebâtir leur vie est loin d’être terminée.

Miss Sugarpuss, actrice et danseuse burlesque de Montréal, a joué dans des comédies musicales. Elle a même fait deux apparitions dans des comédies musicales au Japon. Son fort amour pour le Japon l’appelle à faire constamment des dons personnels. Elle a cependant constaté qu’elle ne pouvait accomplir son dévouement en travaillant toute seule; elle se sentait restreinte. Son amour pour le pays l’a poussée à contacter Coco Montréal dans le but d’arranger un éventuel événement de charité.

Pouvez-vous nous en dire plus sur la danse burlesque?

À l’origine, on entendait par danse burlesque « les spectacles divertissants accompagnés de chanson et de danse. » Au début du 20ème siècle, les spectacles sur scène avec des danseuses sensuelles étaient plutôt en vogue. Puis, à la fin des années 90, est arrivé un mouvement appelé « Néo-burlesque ». Beaucoup de danseurs ont commencé à exprimer non seulement la sensualité, mais aussi le pouvoir de la femme, la joie de vivre, la paix, la problématique homme-femme, etc. De nos jours, le burlesque est une forme de divertissement très appréciée en Europe ainsi qu’en Amérique.

Pouvez-vous nous donner plus de détails sur les points marquants de cet événement?

Le thème de cet événement est « l’Amour ». Nous espérons apporter, avec un spectacle rempli d’humour et de beauté, des sourires à l’auditoire. Notre sens de l’humour sera la force motrice pour aider les personnes! Il y aura aussi un petit marché tenu par des Japonais et d’autres fervents. Là-bas, des marchands, comme Mayu Takeda, créatrice de costumes et récupératrice de tissu, présenteront et vendront différents articles d’artisanat. Personne ne devrait manquer l’opportunité d’acheter de mignons accessoires ou de dénicher de bonnes affaires! Toutes les recettes seront remises aux charités fournissant soutien au Japon.

Nous espérons que cet événement, rendu possible par la profonde sympathie des danseurs burlesques envers le Japon et leur capacité d’agir, pourra vraiment aider les victimes du tremblement de terre et du tsunami japonais. Ceux qui se sentent mal à l’aise ou timides à l’idée d’assister à un spectacle burlesque ne devraient pas l’être. La danse burlesque est sensuelle, mais aussi attirante et imposante. L’auditoire saura sans aucun doute apprécier ce spectacle et avoir une perspective plus positive sur la situation actuelle. Cet événement est à voir.
