Contribution of Course to Meetingthe ProfessionalComponent
Students learn the behaviour of traditional and ne w ma terialsand their relevant properties for the use in civilengine ering construction purposes.
Students improve their writing, communication andpresentation skills.
Students recognize the role of professional societies indeveloping codes and standards and updating currentknowledge.
Relationship of Course to ProgramOutcomes
Students apply algebra, eleme ntary calculus, a nd principlesof mechanics.
Students are able to identify and formulate an engineeringproblem and to develop a solution.
Students recognize the importance of various materialsrelated to civil engineering
Students are encouraged to submit accurate analysis in an
efficient and professional way.
Students recognize their role with an enginee ring team
carrying other aspects for construction, in te rms of choosing the materials and the interaction of decisionsmade by various architectural a nd enginee ring teams.
Students are encouraged to recognize the different types of materials and their range of applications.
Students recognize the ethical and professional responsibilityin achieving materials for safe and economical design, and its impact on the well-being of the society.
Students recognize the need for technical updating on acontinuing basis, since the course empha sizes on thechanging nature of software, codes and specifications.
Students recognize the importance of reading andunderstanding technical contents in English in order toachieve lifelong learning and be able to carryout their responsibilities.
Students recognize the important role of computers infacilitating analysis of material properties.
Students are encouraged to improve their writing, communication and presentation skills.
