WZ Hockey Room 2 attended the Western Zone Hockey Tournament on Tuesday at the National Hockey Stadium. All the students played extremely well and showed off some great skills.

A big thank you to all the parents who helped us with umpiring, transport and team management. A special thank you goes out to John McCrystal and Conor Ryan for umpiring our games.

Library News Your child will be able to borrow 5 books for the two week holiday break. To be able to do this they need to make sure they have no overdue books. Please help them to return books so they can get fresh ones for the holidays. Yummy stickers Don’t forget to keep munching apples and collecting yummy stickers. Hugh and Nell are our star apple eaters so far. The more stickers we send in, the more free sports gear we will collect. Stationery and EOTC payments Just a little reminder that we still have a number of outstanding stationery and EOTC payments. Pop along and see Suz in the office to discuss payment options.

Writing from Room 3 This week Room 3 have been working on using adjectives and creative vocabulary to make our writing interesting. We re-created The Furry Ones poem by Aileen Fisher. These are some of Room 3’s favourites by Shevinka, Sasha and Elise.

I was surprised that we were playing on the artificial turf because all the other tournaments have been at a park. The turf was wet which made lots of splashes and sometimes it distracted me when we were playing the game. Some people kept slipping over. Hockey was fun because it is a fast-paced game that moves up and down quickly. The best part of the day was facing the other CMK team and drawing the game. I didn’t get injured but there were some close calls with the sticks. I’d love to play again next year because it was really fun. By Rian

Winter Netball

The Rubies played Karori Normal Kauri and won 23-6. Player of the day went to Amber who has played consistently well for three weeks and had a particularly strong game at Centre this week.

With only one more game to play to the end of Round 1, Team Emerald’s are rocking on the court. A team effort saw the Emerald’s come away with another win 20-4 against St Teresa’s Thunderbolts. A big shout out to Coach Moana Solia for her tenacity in playing the girls out of their normal positions! My final word goes to Gerardine, who fitted right into position of GA/GS, and that is why she was MVP this week.

The Sapphires played Te Aro school on Saturday. They played brilliantly coming away with a win of 35-2. Chantelle was our star player of the day, making huge progress having only just started playing netball this season. She was able to get the ball on the opposition's pass off most of the time. High scores can also be attributed to our "Rubie helpers" this week Laura and Tiffany, thank you girls, game on next week!

Thank you to those parents who helped with our duty at the courts last weekend. This weekend is the last game before the holidays. The draw is: 8.30 am Cardinal McKeefry Rubies v Northland The Pink Ferns (Crt 1 VUW) 9.20 am Cardinal McKeefry Sapphires v Wadestown Tornadoes (Crt 3 VUW) 11.00 am Cardinal McKeefry Emeralds v Wadestown Blizzard (Marsden Crt 2) Red Puppy Bikkie Day - Monday 4 July See the notices up around the school for more information.
