3. Rapport du Secretaire general L'impression des actes du congres d'1ngolstadt est retardee; le secretaire general presente neanmoins la maquette des actes. Le secretaire general remercie Mme. G. Bock Berti de l'organisation du Congres. - 11 fait part du nombre des membres: plus de 150 actuellement.

4. Elections

Une seule liste de 11 membres est presentee. Les candidats ont ete presentes 60 jours avant les elections. Le secretaire general a re9u conformement au reglement interieur la nomination et cooptation des membres suivants:

Die vielen Gesichter des Wahns Patientenportraits aus der Psychiatrie der lahrhundertwende. 1988, 156 Seiten, 42 Fotos, 9 Abbildungen, gebunden Fr. 39.- / DM45.-

Die Portraitfotos der ersten Patienten in der 1903 eroffneten «Konig­lichen Heil- und Pflegeanstalt Weinsberg» bei Heilbronn nahm der erste arztliche Direktor selbst auf. Es gelangen ihm ktinstlerische Aufnahmen von seltenem Rang in der Art des Fotografen Sander, sowohl von Patientenpersonlichkeiten als auch von heute (nach Einftihrung der Psychopharmaka) verschwundenen Krankheitszustanden, z. B. der Katatonie, Katalepsie und Paralyse. Zusammen mit den Originaldia­gnosen, wie Amentia, Moral insanity, degenerativem Irresein - und den Originaltexten der Krankengeschichten ergeben sie ein lebendiges Bild des Anstaltlebens und der therapeutischen Bemtihungen von der lahrhundertwende bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg, einer Zeit, die heute oft wegen ihrer humanen Einstellung zu Geisteskranken gertihmt wird. Marie-Gabrielle Hohenlohe gibt ausserdem einen Uberblick der Psychiatriegeschichte in Europa bis zur lahrhundertwende.

1989: The Year of the Microscope (Summer 1989 to January 1990)

The Year of the Microscope commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Royal Microscopical Society - the first Society in the world wholly devoted to micoscopy.

The special exhibition at the Science Museum is an exciting and hugely important event designed to bring an understanding of microscopy to a wider public than ever before. It is the first interactive exhibition of light and electron microscopy ever staged, allowing ordinary visitors to observe their own specimens and operate a wide variety of microscopical equipment for themselves.

ANGERS (France) 6 - 9 juin 1989 a Angers (France): commemoration de la mort de Michel-Eugene CHEVREUL (1786-1889). Mort a 103 ans Chevreul est connu pour ses travaux sur le "contraste simultane des couleurs". Il isola et decrivit de nombreux acides gras et fut le premier a expliquer la saponification. Un congres international pour l'etude des corps gras doit reunir plus de 400 participants.
