what is rastra?

Rastra is an insulated concrete form system with 85% recycled content. It is so strong that it can withstand hurricanes, tornados, fires, termites and rodents, and it does not mold. Rastra provides outstanding sound and temperature insulation, utility bills may be reduced by 50% and allows unlimited architectural freedom and artistic expression.

Rastra panels are large building blocks with a grid of internal channels allowing panels to be used horizontally or vertically. Once the Rastra panels are joined together to form a story-high wall, they are filled with concrete. The cells in each element then form a continuous structural grid, which gives Rastra its high strength. Variation of the concrete formulation and amount of reinforcement allows Rastra’s load bearing capacity to be adapted to almost any application. Rastra walls serve as a fire and thermal barrier.

Rastra is made of Thastyron™, a mixture of recycled foam plastic and a cementitious binder. The excellent physical properties of Thastyron™, combined with the structural integrity of the concrete and grid and its flexibility makes Rastra the best building product on the market.
