Early 15th Century, composed in Italy in a mysteriously unknown, and as yet, undecipherable system of writing. The Author remains anonymous and the name comes from a Polish book dealer (Wilfrid Voynich) who purchased the manuscript in 1912. Owned by numerous Alchemists and Royalty the book while undecipherable is believed to be related to herbal medicine by its numerous botanical illustrations and vaguely alchemic imagery.
