Terminology & Ontology: Theories and applications

Under the patronage of an international scientific committee, the TOTh Conferences cover anextensivefieldofstudiesandresearchconcerningterminologyand/orontology.Theopeningtalk,givenbya renownedpersonalitywithinhis/herdomain,aims toopennewdisciplinary fields thatcanrelatetothosefromTOTh.Scheduled every year at the University of Savoie (France) on two days in early June, the TOThConferenceshavealsocomprised,since2011,adisputatio,whichconsistsofacommentedreadingmadebyamemberoftheScientificCommitteethataimstoprovideaccesstofundamentalauthorsandtextswithinourfieldofstudy.Moreover,a«YoungResearcher»prizehasbeenawardedsince2011 (all theauthorsof thepapermustbelongtothiscategory).

TOTh The TOTh community was created more than ten years ago and, ever since, has drawn togetherresearchers,teachers,trainers,practitioners,usersandindustrialistswhoseinterestsconcernterminologyand,inamoregeneralway,thelinksbetweenlanguageandknowledgeinthecontextofourdiscipline.

TOTh isopen toall streamsof thought,andsetsout toprovidea forumofexchangeandsharingwhereproblemsarepresentedalongwithsolutionsandfeedbackfromexperience,onboththetheoreticandtheappliedplanes,aswellasnewtendenciesandperspectives inthedisciplinesassociatedwithterminology(translation,lexicography,knowledgeengineering,theinformationsciences…).

TheTOThinternationalcommunitycomprisesmorethan20differentnationalitiesandthemostprominentpersonalities in thedomain. Theofficial languages are French and English. The annual events that TOThorganizesincludeaconference,atrainingsession,andaWorkshop.
