Point Clouds

August 25 - December 4, 2014

“Spatial Drawing #2”, Found lumber and mixed media, 66 x 72 x 72 inches, 2009

Neil Lawley’s interests lie in the interrelatedness of things, across cultures, languages, and objects. Acknowledging contradictions, tensions, transfers of energy, moments of stasis and entropy, his ambition is to create a cohesive piece, giving the viewer a felt sense of form.

He strives to make visible the connections that are made in the mind. Lawley is currently investigating connections with interactive electronic objects and using 3D modeling and printing to inform his sculptures.

The campus and area residents have watched the Center for the Arts rise from the ground at the corner of Homer and Ford Streets on the Pittsburg State University campus for the last 18 months. Excitement has been growing as students, faculty and others see what an impressive facility it will be. Much of the construction is expected to be completed in the Fall 2014 with inaugural events in the Spring 2015.

Visit the Center for the Arts website for future announcements on a ribbon cutting planned for late fall 2014 semester and the spring 2015 schedule of events.

The new arts center includes an 1,100 seat performance hall, a 250-seat theater, an art gallery/museum exhibition space, and many other support spaces. Construction of the $33 million project has been funded with private gifts and student fees.
