For me, wearing hijab is a responsible daily practice which affords me the
dignity Allah (SWT) intended for all believing women.*I am also sure you
know that a proper hijab first, and foremost, generates modesty in your
appearance. But, secondarily, the hijab creates style. It is one of the most
prominent features of our appearance. While we do not need "beauty queen"
looks anymore than we need a magazine about Hollywood gossip, I believe
that when a modest Muslim woman looks polished and confident, it is great
dawah to others. Carefully choosing your hijab with just a few basic principles
is the first step to a coordinated overall appearance.
The #1 Principle - Color
The first of those principles to consider when choosing a hijab is color. The hijab really commands
attention to your face, and it can highlight either the flaws or the fine points of your appearance,
depending on whether the hijab color is right for you. The wrong color hijab can make you look older,
tired, and washed out. It can draw attention to scars, dark spots and dark circles. Allah (SWT) blessed
each of us with our own palette of colors for our features. It is important to learn to wear the colors that
bring out your natural glow by wearing colors that complement your skin tone, natural hair color and
eyes.
Right Color
Autumn Color Palette
The burgundy color complements the models warm tone complexion to give it a healthy glow.
Wrong Color
Winter Color Palette
The cool black and gray tones wash out her complexion which makes her look pale.

4 Seasons of Color
Every woman fits into one of the four season color palettes winter, spring,
summer or autumn. Each season color palette is true to the season such as
winter colors are cool vivid icy colors. Summer colors are shades of ocean
blue, watermelon red and summer flowers. Autumn colors reflect the warm
golden tones seen in fall leaves and lastly springs warm bright and soft
colors with yellow tones.
There are a broad range of colors in each season palette but as a group each set of colors tend to lean
towards either cool (bluish tones) or warm (orange/yellow tones).
Winter & Summer Palettes are cool bluish tone colors.
Spring & Autumn Palettes are orangey/yellow tone colors.

Each of the 4 Season Color Palettes has a variation of red and green in different shades.
Notice how Winter & Summer colors are cool, whereas the Autumn & Spring colors are warm.
Wrong Color
Summer Color Palette
The soft-white makes the model look pale and emphasizes any flaws in her complexion.
Right Color
Spring Color Palette
The soft peach color complements her features.

How to know which Season of Colors to wear?
1. Check your closet Begin by thinking about the clothes in your own closet. Which ones make you look and feel
great? Chances are, those colors are ones other people think you look great in too. Put your
favorite clothing together to compare the colors with the season color charts provided here. You
will notice one seasons chart of colors will stand out from the others by having many of your
best colors. Your best colors may actually cross into two different season color charts but one will
be predominant with almost all of its colors attractive on you.
2. Features Evaluate whether your features (natural hair color, eye color and skin tone) have warm tones or
cool tones. Cool tones tend to be more bluish/gray, whereas, warm tones tend to be more
orangey-gold. This narrows down your season color palette to either Winter/Summer if you have
cool tone features or Spring/Autumn if you have warm tone features. Then the intensity of your
features determines whether you are either Winter or Autumn categories for darker features and
lighter features for Summer or Spring. Or you can simply look for your combination of features
from the following 4 season charts to find your season of colors.
Features Charts Pick the combination that best describes you, starting with your hair color.

3. Website Test **To help you determine your season go to the link called colormebeautiful.com. Once you have
finished the test, a page will tell you whether you are a winter, spring, summer or autumn. Then
come back to this page for your seasons color palette for the colors which bring out the best in
your natural appearance.
Tips to help you determine your colors :
Get a trusted friends honest opinion about which colors look best on you.
Be open-minded. We all tend to cling to old habits and colors.
Take a photo of yourself in different colors the camera does not lie.
Standard iridescent light bulbs cast a more yellow glow and florescent white light bulbs will cast a whiter glow which affects the appearance of colors. A classic example is department
store dressing room overly bright florescent lights which tend to distort colors. For best
results look at the article of clothing under natural light.

If you have enjoy the information in this report, you will love the book Color
Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson. The author came up with the season color chart
system and does a stupendous job explaining how it works. The book includes pages
displaying full color palettes with thirty shades for each season.
